I am busy developing a Vaadin with Maven project. I would like to integrate Hibernate with this project, but I can't do it.
I've added the dependencies and libraries, but Hibernate does not work.
This is the pom.xml

If you are including just hibernate-entitymanager Maven will download hibernate-core, hibernate-annotations and hibernate-commons-annotations on it's own in the right version.

When deploying my maven application to heroku, I get the error mesage:
app[web.1]: Error: Could not find or load main class MainView
My procfile path matches the classpath in my manifest (procfile below), so I am unsure why it can't find the class.
web: java -cp target/classes/com/vaadin/app MainView
I am deploying the app with 'git push heroku master', the build succeeds on heroku but gives the above error after building.

I'm trying to create a war file, and the push that to my tomcat8 webserver.
The problem is, that tomcat throws the following error while trying to access the webapp:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/lib/tomcat8/webapps/tdc-stress-test-2.0-Web.war!/WEB-INF/classes (No such file or directory)
then after comes:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: org.hibernate.hql.internal.ast.QuerySyntaxException: Basedevice is not mapped [Select t from Basedevice t]
The database is located on the server on which I have pushed the war-file. The persistence.xml is configured to use the database on the server.
This works fine if I run it by jetty::run local, but not when I push it to the server.
What is going on?
The plugin for creating the war:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-war-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.6</version>
<configuration>
<failOnMissingWebXml>false</failOnMissingWebXml>
<!-- Exclude an unnecessary file generated by the GWT compiler. -->
<packagingExcludes>WEB-INF/classes/VAADIN/widgetsets/WEB-INF/**</packagingExcludes>
</configuration>
</plugin>

When I run mvn hibernate3:hbm2cfgxml it does not generate hibernate.cfg.xml file.
However it generates pojos and daos but does not generate hibernate.cfg.xml file.

What needs to be added in pom.xml so that I can generate hibernate.cfg.xml file.
Based on the documentation you need to create a part like the following:
<component>
<name>hbm2cfgxml</name>
<implementation>...</implementation>
...
</component>
Also, in addition to above answer, I think you have duplicate declaration of "hbm2ddl" component in your POM.

I am not using ejb3 timer in my application as of now
What seems to be the problem ?
please help :(
the dendency "jboss-ejb3-timerservice-spi" is most likely your problem. not sure why you need to depend on that, but you certainly shouldn't be including it in your deployment. if you do need it as a dependency for some reason, it should be marked as scope "provided". all of those jboss dependencies and any other of those jars which are in the jboss lib directory should be marked as scope "provided". generally, your app should not contain any jars which are part of the jboss server.
Looks like at the time of your .jar deployment something has already instantiated the TimerServiceFactory.
Check your dependencies, I once had a similar problem where one of the jars I had as a maven dependency actually had a jboss.xml in its META-INF folder and was binding a bean I was using to a JNDI name I was already using.
Its a pain to search your dependencies, but this looks like its conflicting with something.
Its possible that one of your dependencies depends on an older version of interface org.jboss.ejb3.timerservice.spi.TimerServiceFactory and it gets instantiated before yours.
Check your .m2 folder and see if you have 2 versions of jboss-ejb3-timerservice-spi downloaded.
