tomcat 8 war: Class is not mapped - java

I'm trying to create a war file, and the push that to my tomcat8 webserver.
The problem is, that tomcat throws the following error while trying to access the webapp:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/lib/tomcat8/webapps/tdc-stress-test-2.0-Web.war!/WEB-INF/classes (No such file or directory)
then after comes:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: org.hibernate.hql.internal.ast.QuerySyntaxException: Basedevice is not mapped [Select t from Basedevice t]
The database is located on the server on which I have pushed the war-file. The persistence.xml is configured to use the database on the server.
This works fine if I run it by jetty::run local, but not when I push it to the server.
What is going on?
The plugin for creating the war:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-war-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.6</version>
<configuration>
<failOnMissingWebXml>false</failOnMissingWebXml>
<!-- Exclude an unnecessary file generated by the GWT compiler. -->
<packagingExcludes>WEB-INF/classes/VAADIN/widgetsets/WEB-INF/**</packagingExcludes>
</configuration>
</plugin>

It looks for that artifact in the place defined in settings.xml. how do i change that. And I need the settings.xml since there are dependencies coming from jfrog, which are defined in the settings.xml
I even tried the force update -U, which doesn't work
mvn -U clean package -s settings.xml
Your settings.xml overrides the location for MavenCentral by using the central id.
If you don't want that, use a different id in the settings.xml.
I think you override the Url to the central maven repository.
Try to change the id in:
<pluginRepository>
<snapshots>
<enabled>false</enabled>
</snapshots>
<id>central</id>
<name>plugins-release</name>
<url>https://loyalty.jfrog.io/loyalty/plugins-release</url>
</pluginRepository>
The same for the repository

Does anyone experince the same thing? I have tried a lot of different things, but can't seem to get it to work. Mostly different maven dependencies and excluding libs from dependencies.
But since mvn exec:java works and I can run the jar build with mvn clean install then I would expect VSCode to be able to run it aswell.

Vaadin doesn't compiles Widgetset after adding googlemaps vaadin library

Today I tried to add a googlemaps library to my vaadin project.
I added the required dependency to my pom.xml, but however after I added the library, maven doesn't wanted to recompile my widgetset, because of this error:

Hope somebody knows what to do, because I found nothing on the internet...
You are using vaadin 7 but version 2.0.0 of googlemaps addon is targeted to vaadin 8.
Try using version 1.3.4 of googlemaps addon

Maven-embedded Tomcat6 doesn't start

I'm trying to use embedded Tomcat6 (mvn tomcat6:run) to run my Vaadin application (pom.xml is given below).
It doesn't work - when I run it, I get the messages
окт 18, 2013 1:51:57 PM org.apache.catalina.startup.Embedded start
INFO: Starting tomcat server
окт 18, 2013 1:51:57 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardEngine start
INFO: Starting Servlet Engine: Apache Tomcat/6.0.36
окт 18, 2013 1:51:57 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol init
INFO: Initializing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-9090
окт 18, 2013 1:51:57 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol start
INFO: Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-9090
And then nothing happens.
What's wrong with my project setup? How can I make Tomcat6 run my web app (as it happens with mvn jetty:run) ?

Update 1: I get the same problem, if I create an empty Vaadin project and try to run it using Tomcat.
mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeGroupId=com.vaadin -DarchetypeArtifactId=vaadin-archetype-application -DarchetypeVersion=LATEST -DgroupId=your.company -DartifactId=project-name -Dversion=1.0 -Dpackaging=war
mvn tomcat6:run
tomcat6 does not provide servlet-api:3.0, it only 2.5 compilant container, you should use tomcat7 or write correct web.xml

Building Maven Projects with Jenkins

I'm new to both Maven and Jenkins so bear with me here...
I've got a Maven project that builds correctly when I run mvn install from within the project folder, but when I attempt to build via Jenkins, no dependencies can be resolved at all. Am I missing something/screwed something up in my Maven or Jenkins settings?
Project POM and .m2/settings.xml are below...

That's, probably, because Jenkins (if she is running on the other computer) doesn't know the extra repository identified as central which seems to be a private nexus instance in your domain area.
Setting Jenkin's own settings.xml varies on the way of how she installed.
In my case (native ubuntu install), Jenkins' home is /usr/lib/jenkins. Maybe you can copy your local settings.xml into Jenkins' /usr/lib/jenkins/.m2/?
