I want to deploy my Spring boot application (.war) to an external Tomcat-Server. My application works fine in Eclipse with my local Tomcat 8 and jdk 8. Furthermore, we are using maven and
Now we had to setup a whole server from scratch and we tried to do our best, but the application won't find any Services. We just can call static html, css and js files. As far as we want to call a service we get an 404 error.
Can anyone show me a step-by-step setting up tomcat with deploying the war?
Here is my startclass:
#PropertySources({
#PropertySource("classpath:/application.properties"),
#PropertySource("classpath:/messages_de.properties")
})
#SpringBootApplication
public class Application {
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
SpringApplication springApplication = new SpringApplication(Application.class);
springApplication.run(args);
}
}

Now you can run mvn tomcat7:deploy( or redeploy)
PS : i know that the command tomcat7:deploy (redeploy) exists but i'm not sure for tomcat8:deploy !

Hi' I'd like to make my application deploy in ROOT folder (I hope to fix my problem about twice deploy).
I'm using maven and Tomcat v8 but even if I change pom.xml like below the result doesn't change.
I have tried to manually ad ROOT.war but when I start Tomcat from Eclipse it make deploy under application name folder. The path into the web modules is /ROOT
Do you know how can I deploy as ROOT.war? Thanks

If I export as ROOT.war and deploy from command line it works
You can try using the tomcat plugin to do so with the following configuration:-
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.tomcat.maven</groupId>
<artifactId>tomcat-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.2</version>
<configuration>
<path>/</path> <!-- root folder currently -->
</configuration>
</plugin>
This trick worked for me:
Before
After
I had exactly the same issue, and spend lots of time trying to find the solution. Eventually, I solved it so I'm posting the answer here so that my future self may find it again if required!
The m2e WTP integration uses a different property for the name it gives the target war file. See M2E-WTP-FAQ for details.
Add the following code to pom.xml
<properties>
<!-- Eclipse will use this value when auto-deploying into Tomcat -->
<m2eclipse.wtp.contextRoot>/</m2eclipse.wtp.contextRoot>
...
<build>
<!-- Maven (and build servers) will use this value when building war -->
<finalName>ROOT</finalName>
...
</build>
</properties>
I have a project i export to jar file and install with maven:
mvn install:install-file -Dfile=/home/myuser/workspace/libs/mylib.jar -DgroupId=br.com.mylib -DartifactId=mylib -Dversion=1.0 -Dpackaging=jar
In other project i just import in pom.xml:
<dependency>
<groupId>br.com.mylib</groupId>
<artifactId>mylib</artifactId>
<version>1.0</version>
</dependency>
This works fine, if i use this setup in pom.xml of "mylib":
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">
<modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
<groupId>br.com.mylib</groupId>
<artifactId>mylib</artifactId>
<version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
<name>MY LIB</name>
Now i want to change for 2.0 version, like this:
<version>2.0</version>
But when i remove the SNAPSHOT word nothing works, if i use "1.0" without SNAPSHOT i can't import this library in another project, the error is : ClassNotFoundException like jar aren't imported.
My pom.xml of "mylib" project:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">

#SergeyPauk is correct. the "packaging" should be "jar", or removed at all as "jar" is the default.
did you make sure you built the "mylib" in version:2.0-snapshot, BEFORE you tried to use it as dependency in another project? in "mylib"'s pom I see that the version is 1.0-SNAPSHOT. If you want to change to 2.0, then first of all you have to change mylib itself to 2.0, build it and install to the local repo, and only then try to use it as dependency in another project.
the right way to use maven's versions is to use SNAPSHOT version during development, e.g. X-SNAPSHOT, and only after you finish development (i.e. releasing the product) you change the version to X
I used this tutorial to build Spring Boot application. It appeared super easy at first glance but I ran into number of problems right away. When trying to access /hi or /thing tomcat 7 returns 404 error. How to fix it?
#Controller
public class MainController {
#Autowired
ParserService parserService;
#RequestMapping("/thing")
public Record thing() {
return new Record();
}
#RequestMapping(value="/hi", method= RequestMethod.GET)
public #ResponseBody String displayStartPage(){
return "{hello}";
}
}
Application
#Configuration
#EnableAutoConfiguration
#ComponentScan(basePackages = "go")
#EntityScan
public class Application extends SpringBootServletInitializer{
public static void main(final String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
}
#Override
protected final SpringApplicationBuilder configure(final SpringApplicationBuilder application) {
return application.sources(Application.class);
}
}
RecordDao
#Transactional
#Service("recordDao")
public interface RecordDao extends CrudRepository<Record, Long> {
}
PS. Here I had to add #Service("recordDao") because IntelliJ was warning that Cannot Autowire bean. although in tutorial this line is not presented.

When I run it as maven spring-boot goal it gives error:
Exception in thread "main" org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'mainController': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: go.service.ParserService go.controller.MainController.parserService; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'parserService': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: go.dao.RecordDao go.service.ParserService.recordDao; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [go.dao.RecordDao] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. Dependency annotations: {#org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired(required=true)}
Put your Application class in a package (e.g. "go"). Otherwise the Spring Data repository scan won't work (it would have to scan all the jar files on the classpath).

Project is located within D:/Projects/MService.
But since recently, compilation fails with FileNotFoundException and this message.
Information:Internal caches are corrupted or have outdated format,
forcing project rebuild: java.io.FileNotFoundException:
D:\Projects\MService\C:\MService\classes\com\example\mservice\data\data.txt
(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)
As given in the message a path confusion happens somewhere and I can't figure it out. If I remove the <directory> within <build> everything works fine.
com.example.mservice.data is a package within the resources folder. All my google searches have been in vain. Is this a problem with IntelliJ or is it a problem with my pom.xml? Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
I'm facing some issues configuring Tesseract to work with Maven.
I've imported a the related jar files via mvn install but am unsure what to do with the other 2 dll files. Mainly:

libtesseract302.dll

The is my folder structure:
The strange thing it is that it works when i run it as a java application but does not when i try to use it in a servlet.
Anyone one has any experience configuring this to work with maven?
UPDATE:
I added one line into my code which gave a more specific error.
ImageIO.scanForPlugins();//before String result = instance.doOCR(imageFile);

Did you check your JVM? Tesseract only runs on 32-bit JVM. Check this question:
