Entity cannot be resolved to a type

I'm trying to do a simple app with Spring.
I installed the plugin spring (Spring Tool Suite (STS)) for eclipse.
I added Maven dependencies in the file pom.xml but did not load the jar files. I can not import the #Entity #Id in my class Produit and I do not know where is my problem.

As already mentioned above
Make sure your XML structure is valid. An open tag always need a close tag or slash(/) at the end.
In my case, the pom.xml file had a warning because I explicitly mentioned version of sql lite under . Thus, even after reload of project project was not getting updated(because of presence of warning).
To remove warning, I deleted the line that showed version number of sql lite dependency explicity and reloaded project. This fixed the issue for me.

your pom depends on spring-core 4.1.1, this method has been introduced from version 4.2 , your spring-context version and spring-core version are not compatible each other.

You most likely have an older version of Spring being pulled in as a transitive dependency of another library. Spring 4 introduced a Bill of Materials feature to solve just such issues. You can use this:
by removing the <version/> element from all Spring libraries declared in your POM.
by adding the following section to your POM (setting the version as required).

JBoss will not start with Hibernate Validator 5.1.3 Final

I asked a question along these lines here
I ended up going to 4.0.2 version on validator, but our application overall uses JPA 2.0 and so I was getting errors when attempting to fire validators. So, I decided to go back to trying to get 5.x of HV working since it was based on JPA 2.0. But, my JBoss will not start, it gets :
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.validation.beanvalidation.LocalValidatorFactoryBean#0': Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.hibernate.validator.internal.engine.ConfigurationImpl
So, using Eclipse Luna, I created a new Spring MVC maven based project. I left the pom bone stock as the wizard created it. I compiled, deployed and started JBoss, no issues. Then I added the pom entry for HV as is indicated here and here.
After adding the indicated pom entry JBoss will not start, and the only addition is the HV pom entry as shown in the docs.

I am out of ideas. According all the doco I find and all the example project setups, the pom entry is all that is needed. The only other thing I can think of is there is something not documented that is required. Or, there is an incompatibility with Spring.
Any ideas?

Unable to load servlet listener class

In advance, I apologize for the lengthy post, but there are a lot of details to this issue:
It started with me receiving the below error when trying to run my Java EE application:
SEVERE: Unable to load Persistence Unit from EAR: E:\workspace-sts\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server.core\tmp0\wtpwebapps\CAT, module: file:/E:/workspace-sts/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.wst.server.core/tmp0/wtpwebapps/CAT/WEB-INF/classes/. Exception: unexpected element (uri:"http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/persistence", local:"persistence"). Expected elements are <{http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence}persistence>

This seemed to be pointing to my persistance.xml file:

however, your first declaration of persistence element is correct, while the second one is deprecated.
and the error seems to be tied to OpenEJB. maybe you have it as transient dependency, and is referenced an old version, but this is just a supposition.
another thing is that you are using javax.inject and i'm not sure it is usable standalone on Tomcat.
you should use a full-featured application server (glassfish, jboss, maybe TomEE) instead of an enhanced Tomcat, which is although a servlet container, and avoid these compatibility issues.

I had the same problem and i SOLVED it updating the jcl-over-slf4j jar file.
I'm using 1.7.5 version and it succesfully deploys.

This issue has been bugging me for some time and it appears to catch quite a number of people.(See here also) Fresh install of STS, download latest MVC template, builds OK, won't run because of this SLF4J issue.
This issue appears to be incompatibilities between slf4j libraries and dependencies that are used by maven.
The easy solution (here) is to edit the pom and remove the exclusion for commons-logging, and then delete the dependencies for slf4j. Spring drops back to commons logging when slf4j is not available.
The harder solution I gave up on and that is to track down which versions work with the current shipping STS(3.1) and ensure that the template works with the correct versions.
I hope this post assists others who have tried the template and cannot get it to run out of the box as it should.

There is some version conflict between some commons logging lib and one of the slf4j libs.
(This is not a maven problem, it is a problem that occures if you maintain the libs by hand too.)
Open the maven pom with eclipse. There is a Tab called "hirarchy" it will show the used and required versions. Try to use a cobination of the logging liaries that does not have so much conflicts.
I have had a look at your pom. The problem is the jcl-over-slf4j-1.5.8.jar it CONTAINS some org.apache.commons.loggin jars that are not compatible to slf4j 1.6.6.
jcl-over-slf4j-1.5.8.jar is referenced by org.jasig.cas
What I would try is to replace the jcl-over-slf4j-1.5.8.jar with jcl-over-slf4j-1.6.6.jar

But I do not know cas-server-core 3.5.0 is compatible with jcl-over-slf4j-1.6.6.jar. But in most cases the "outer" API of an logging framework is more stable then the "inner" API that is used by the logging Bridges. -- So good luck.
