I have a web project which is working fine when I am deploying that project to individual tomcat but when I am trying to run same project from inside Eclipse and in same tomcat instance it is not working throws the following exception:

NullPointerException at com.amazonaws.util.VersionInfoUtils.initializeUserAgent when using AWS 1.6

I have code that works fine with aws-java-sdk-1.0 .
I have downloaded the source for aws.java.sdk-1.6.4, have built, and included the jar within my project.
I am getting a null pointer exception.

Anybody have any idea what changed between 1.0 and 1.6 such as API changes?
After investigating the source code, it seems that it throws this exception because the property file com/amazonaws/sdk/versionInfo.properties doesn't have the property platform.

You need to make sure that jboss uses its own servlet-api.jar and not any other one. If you are packaging the servlet-api.jar in your war file then simply remove it and try.

You shouldn't be putting stuff in the Tomcat /lib directory except, as noted by Mike Baranczak below, JDBC driver JARs. (And even that is true only for Tomcat 6.x and higher. It used to be that those would go in your WEB-INF/lib as well.)

Spring's file-upload stuff uses Apache Commons FileUpload under the covers. You'll need to download that and include it in your app. This, in turn, also requires Apache Commons IO, so youi'll need that also.
you missed to add jar "common file upload" or "file io" or added older verson of jar
good example of file upload is http://hmkcode.com/spring-mvc-upload-file-ajax-jquery-formdata/
thank you
