I am learning Java, and I am planning to develop a property management software for Windows.
I need to build the architecture for the program, and I am thinking of learning some technology for it.
I am considering Java FX 2.x, since I am also interested in web or mobile development.
However, there does not seem to be many Java FX 2.x books available at this time, while it has been quite a long time since JavaFX 2 has been released.
What is the problem? Is it not successful?
Also, is learning JavaFX 2.x recommended for me to develop the office software relatively easily?

JavaFX is a very power full way of creating GUI applications for the developers who are familiar with Java, but none of any updates happened for javaFX in java newer versions. and in Java 13, some of the previous features are not included.
as a beginner should I learn javaFX or Swing or any other way to create java GUI applications
In case you want to create Java Gui programs that run on local machines, JavaFX is still the way to go. For starters, I can highly recommend the Scene Builder which is now customized and released by Gluon.
Eventhough JavaFX does no longer come with the JRE, its still Open Source in development.
These are just my two cents, you might get other opinions on that topic.

How can I develop in Java and still use Unreal Engine 4?
Do you have to use a wrapper (I have heard something about this), do I have to modify the source code that comes with purchase or is there a plugin out there that I can use?
http://jmonkeyengine.org/ seems good and I love the IDE (and the SDK itself), but I cannot get over having to place objects on certain coordinates.
There is, as of this moment time, no Java support on the Unreal Engine. There is a C# plugin available however, you could probably explore how they accomplished it if you plan on making your own wrapper.

For some time, I have wanted to do my development more efficiently and faster. I wonder what is the best technology for implementing sockets in a web application. Normally I use PHP and JSON for HTTP requests from the client, and I build my clients in GWT and mobile clients in Android and iOS.
Have you tried nodeJS? its a bit different to what you've been using before but it works well.
See this tutorial - http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/javascript-ajax/real-time-chat-with-nodejs-socket-io-and-expressjs/
and this demo - http://demo.tutorialzine.com/2012/08/nodejs-drawing-game/

I have a textbook, "5th Edition Lewis and Loftus Java Software Solutions: Foundations of Program Design". The edition is from 2007. Can I use this to learn java, or is too outdated to be worth my time?
Java is always changing but not be very much. I have used that book for the newest version of java and some stuff doesn't work but for the most part you should be good. If something doesn't work in that book then simple just go onto google or some other search engine and check out the new way.
Best of Luck,
Dev
