public JSONObject post(String url, ArrayList<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs) {
HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpContext localContext = new BasicHttpContext();
HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(url);
try {
MultipartEntity entity = new MultipartEntity(HttpMultipartMode.BROWSER_COMPATIBLE);
for(int index=0; index < nameValuePairs.size(); index++) {
if(nameValuePairs.get(index).getName().equalsIgnoreCase("uploadFile")) {
// If the key equals to "image", we use FileBody to transfer the data
entity.addPart(nameValuePairs.get(index).getName(), new FileBody(new File (nameValuePairs.get(index).getValue())));
} else {
// Normal string data
Charset chars = Charset.forName("UTF-8");
entity.addPart(nameValuePairs.get(index).getName(), new StringBody(nameValuePairs.get(index).getValue(),chars));
}
}
httpPost.setEntity(entity);
HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(httpPost, localContext);
HttpEntity httpEntity = response.getEntity();
is = httpEntity.getContent();
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
try {
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(
is, "iso-8859-1"), 8);
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
String line = null;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
sb.append(line + "\n");
}
is.close();
json = sb.toString();
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e("Buffer Error", "Error converting result " + e.toString());
}
// try parse the string to a JSON object
try {
jObj = new JSONObject(json);
} catch (JSONException e) {
Log.e("JSON Parser", "Error parsing data " + e.toString());
}
// return JSON String
return jObj;
}
How can I change this function so that I can do this
thanks :)

You can upload multiple files in one request along with other string parameters in Android.
For that, you have to include 2 libraries into your project build path, apache-mime4j-0.6.jar and httpmime-4.0.1.jar.
private void doFileUpload(){
File file1 = new File(selectedPath1);
File file2 = new File(selectedPath2);
String urlString = "Your server location";
try
{
HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost post = new HttpPost(urlString);
FileBody bin1 = new FileBody(file1);
FileBody bin2 = new FileBody(file2);
MultipartEntity reqEntity = new MultipartEntity();
reqEntity.addPart("uploadedfile1", bin1);
reqEntity.addPart("uploadedfile2", bin2);
reqEntity.addPart("user", new StringBody("User"));
post.setEntity(reqEntity);
HttpResponse response = client.execute(post);
resEntity = response.getEntity();
final String response_str = EntityUtils.toString(resEntity);
if (resEntity != null) {
Log.i("RESPONSE",response_str);
runOnUiThread(new Runnable(){
public void run() {
try {
res.setTextColor(Color.GREEN);
res.setText("n Response from server : n " + response_str);
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(),"Upload Complete. Check the server uploads directory.", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
});
}
}

Can someone tell me why is the null pointer exception is throwing up?
Try this
<?php
$con=mysqli_connect("localhost","root","") or die(mysql_error());
mysqli_select_db($con,"something")or die("Unable to connect 1");
$response = array();
$response["success"] = 0;
$email = $_POST['email'];
$passwd = $_POST['pass'];
$query1 = mysqli_query($con,"SELECT pass FROM userinfo where email='$email'");
$res= mysqli_fetch_assoc($query1);
if($res)
{
if($passwd!=$res['pass'])
{
$response["success"]=1;
print(json_encode($response));
}
else
{
$response["success"]=0;
print(json_encode($response));
}
}
else
{
$response["success"]=0;
print(json_encode($res));
}

Android: httppost Illegal character in query at index

Im trying to parse the json returned from graph facebook, a feed from a page.
The url is something like this: https://graph.facebook.com/pageId/feed?access_token=MyAppId|MySecretKey&limit=10.
But I'm getting the error: Illegal character in query at index 7. The character at index 77 it's the "|". My code:
private JSONObject getJSONFromUrl(String url) throws UnsupportedEncodingException {
// Making HTTP request
InputStream is = null;
JSONObject jObj = null;
String json = "";
try {
// defaultHttpClient
DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(url);
HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost);
HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity();
is = httpEntity.getContent();
} catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
try {
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(
is, "iso-8859-1"), 8);
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
String line = null;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
sb.append(line + "n");
}
is.close();
json = sb.toString();
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e("Buffer Error", "Error converting result " + e.toString());
}
// try parse the string to a JSON object
try {
jObj = new JSONObject(json);
} catch (JSONException e) {
Log.e("JSON Parser", "Error parsing data " + e.toString());
}
// return JSON String
return jObj;
}
If I replace the URL, using the encoder, like this:
String url = "https://graph.facebook.com/pageId/feed?access_token=MyAppId" + URLEncoder.encode("|", "UTF-8") + "mySecretKey&limit=10";
I receive the error:
{"error":{"message":"(#200) The user hasn't authorized the application to perform this action","type":"OAuthException","code":200}}
But If I copy and paste the original URL, it's returning successfully the JSON
How can I send correctly the url on this case?

Android - How to upload video/image to PHP Server

I am able to post string values to PHP server by using the following code:
public void callWebService(String strEmailList){
HttpResponse response = null;
String responseBody="";
List<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(6);
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringkey1",
String_Value1));
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringkey2", String_Value2));
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringkey3", String_Value3));
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringkey4", String_Value4));
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringkey5", String_Value5));
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringkey6", Here i need to post Image));
try {
HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://MY URL");
if (nameValuePairs != null)
httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs));
response = httpclient.execute(httppost);
responseBody = EntityUtils.toString(response.getEntity());
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
handleResponse(responseBody);
}
I am getting responseBody perfectly if i post only string values. In the nameValuePair, I need to post Image to Server. Can anyone help me how to post image using following code.
You can send image to the server as a Multipart entity
public void upload(String filepath) throws IOException
{
HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient();
httpclient.getParams().setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.PROTOCOL_VERSION, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1);
HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("url");
File file = new File(filepath);
MultipartEntity mpEntity = new MultipartEntity();
ContentBody cbFile = new FileBody(file, "image/jpeg");
mpEntity.addPart("userfile", cbFile);
httppost.setEntity(mpEntity);
System.out.println("executing request " + httppost.getRequestLine());
HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost);
HttpEntity resEntity = response.getEntity();
// check the response and do what is required
}
For uploading image and Video,,, you need to use MultiPart.First you need to Attach your file in fileBody which later attach in Multipart
public JSONObject file_upload1(String URL, String userid, String topic_id,
String topicname, String filelist, String taglist,
String textComment, String textLink) {
JSONObject jObj = null;
// Making HTTP request
try {
// defaultHttpClient
DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(URL);
FileBody bin = null;
MultipartEntity reqEntity = new MultipartEntity(
HttpMultipartMode.BROWSER_COMPATIBLE);
File file = new File(filelist);
try {
bin = new FileBody(file);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
reqEntity.addPart("post_data" + i, bin);
reqEntity.addPart("tag", new StringBody("savetopicactivities"));
reqEntity.addPart("user_id", new StringBody(userid));
reqEntity.addPart("text", new StringBody(textComment));
reqEntity.addPart("count",
new StringBody(String.valueOf(taglist.size())));
reqEntity.addPart("topic_id", new StringBody(topic_id));
reqEntity.addPart("topic_name", new StringBody(topicname));
reqEntity.addPart("link", new StringBody(textLink));
httpPost.setEntity(reqEntity);
HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost);
HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity();
is = httpEntity.getContent();
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
try {
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(
is, "iso-8859-1"), 8);
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
String line = null;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
sb.append(line + "\n");
}
json = sb.toString();
System.out.println("json " + json);
try {
jObj = new JSONObject(json);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
is.close();
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e("Buffer Error", "Error converting result " + e.toString());
}
// return JSON String
return jObj;
}
HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpContext localContext = new BasicHttpContext();
HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(url);
try {
MultipartEntity entity = new MultipartEntity(HttpMultipartMode.BROWSER_COMPATIBLE);
for (int index = 0; index < nameValuePairs.size(); index++)
{
if (index == nameValuePairs.size()-1)
{
entity.addPart(nameValuePairs.get(index).getName(),
new FileBody(new File(nameValuePairs.get(index)
.getValue())));
} else {
entity.addPart(nameValuePairs.get(index).getName() , new StringBody(nameValuePairs.get(index).getValue()));
}
}
httpPost.setEntity(entity);
HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(httpPost, localContext);
HttpEntity resEntity = response.getEntity();
if (resEntity != null)
{
String resdata = EntityUtils.toString(resEntity);
System.out.println("DATA :" + resdata);
}
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();

How do I display a Java HttpPost object as a string?

I am creating an HttpPost object in Android to communicate with a server operated by a client. Unfortunately the server isn't providing either of us with very useful error messages; I would like to see the content of the HttpPost object as a string so I can send it to our client and he can compare it with what he's expecting.
How can I convert an HttpPost object into a string that reflects how it would look as it arrived at the server?
Should use it after execute
public static String httpPostToString(HttpPost httppost) {
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
sb.append("\nRequestLine:");
sb.append(httppost.getRequestLine().toString());
int i = 0;
for(Header header : httppost.getAllHeaders()){
if(i == 0){
sb.append("\nHeader:");
}
i++;
for(HeaderElement element : header.getElements()){
for(NameValuePair nvp :element.getParameters()){
sb.append(nvp.getName());
sb.append("=");
sb.append(nvp.getValue());
sb.append(";");
}
}
}
HttpEntity entity = httppost.getEntity();
String content = "";
if(entity != null){
try {
content = IOUtils.toString(entity.getContent());
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
sb.append("\nContent:");
sb.append(content);
return sb.toString();
}
snippet
I usually do post in this way (The server answer is a JSON object) :
try {
postJSON.put("param1", param1);
postJSON.put("param2",param2);
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
String result = JSONGetHTTP.postData(url);
if (result != null) {
try {
JSONObject jObjec = new JSONObject(result);
}
} catch (JSONException e) {
Log.e(TAG, "Error setting data " + e.toString());
}
}
And postData is:
public static String postData(String url, JSONObject obj) {
// Create a new HttpClient and Post Header
HttpClient httpclient = null;
try {
HttpParams myParams = new BasicHttpParams();
HttpConnectionParams.setConnectionTimeout(myParams, 30000);
HttpConnectionParams.setSoTimeout(myParams, 30000);
httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(myParams);
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e("POST_DATA", "error in httpConnection");
e.printStackTrace();
}
InputStream is = null;
try {
HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost(url.toString());
//Header here httppost.setHeader();
StringEntity se = new StringEntity(obj.toString());
httppost.setEntity(se);
HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost);
HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity();
// // Do something with response...
is = entity.getContent();
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
// convert response to string
BufferedReader reader = null;
String result = null;
try {
reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is, "UTF-8"), 8);
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
String line = null;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
sb.append(line + "\n");
}
result = sb.toString();
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e("log_tag", "Error converting result " + e.toString());
} finally {
try {
if (reader != null)
reader.close();
if (is != null)
is.close();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
if (result != null) {
try {
#SuppressWarnings("unused")
JSONObject jObjec = new JSONObject(result);
} catch (JSONException e) {
Log.e("log_tag", "Error parsing data " + e.toString());
}
}
return result;
}
Hope it helps
Well i actually did HTTP-Post using NameValuePair...... I am showing the code which i use to do an HTTP-Post and then converting the Response into a String
See the below Method code:
public String postData(String url, String xmlQuery) {
final String urlStr = url;
final String xmlStr = xmlQuery;
final StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
Thread t1 = new Thread(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost(urlStr);
try {
List<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(1);
nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("xml", xmlStr));
httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs));
HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost);
Log.d("Vivek", response.toString());
HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity();
InputStream i = entity.getContent();
Log.d("Vivek", i.toString());
InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(i);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
String s = null;
while ((s = br.readLine()) != null) {
Log.d("YumZing", s);
sb.append(s);
}
Log.d("Check Now",sb+"");
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
});
t1.start();
try {
t1.join();
} catch (InterruptedException e) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
}
System.out.println("Getting from Post Data Method "+sb.toString());
return sb.toString();
}
