I want to connect from a Java Web application to a database called "libros", but when I try to run the application from the internal server (I'm using STS 3.6.1), I get the following error:

I know there is the "libros" table, because I created it myself and consult the MySQL Workbench. Clarified that the MySQL Server is local, as well as the application.
Further, the strangest thing is that if I connect with the same application to an online MySQL, no error is displayed.
I am connecting to the latest MySQL JDBC connector and also tried other previous versions, but the problem is the same.
Of course, I appreciate your attention.
Gustavo Echenique
You are getting " MySQLSyntaxErrorException: Unknown database 'libros' ".
You initially said libros was a database; but in a later statement called it a table - Check that you haven't created a table called libros, and not a database. Which is one potential cause for this type of error.
For further help, provide the create statement used, as well as the sql query.
Ensure that you are connecting to the correct host and that the MySQL host you are connecting to has the 'libros' database.
Also, check if the user you are using in your JDBC configuration have access to the 'libros' database.
Try this command:
SHOW GRANTS FOR 'user'#'localhost';
I am compelled to apologize for the time I lost them.
The database is called "arquitecturajava" and has a table called "libros".
When I tested with MySQL online, I called the database as "libros", so when I tried the local server did not work.
Thank you very much for your help.

I have been working on a web application that generates tests, given uploaded Java files and also tests uploaded code against said generated tests. I have been using Evosuite to generate the tests without a problem. However I have just updated to the latest release (1.0.3) and I am now getting the following error when running the generated tests:
initializationError(PackOfCrisps_ESTest)

To run the tests I am creating a new classloader that contains the URL to the directory where the files to be tested along with generated tests from Evosuite are placed.
My application was working successfully before I updated Evosuite but I would like to continue using this new version as the additional features are useful for my project. There may have been a subtle change that I am unaware of so any help would be very much appreciated.
yes, there was a subtle change in 1.0.3, particularly in the EvoRunner class used to run the tests. To do instrumentation, there are 2 methods: with Java Agent, and with custom classloader. Before the default was Java Agent, but now we use the custom classloader (long story...).
I guess there are some side effects with yours "I am creating a new classloader", if that is different from the one used to load the ES code itself.
A quick check is to set to false separateClassLoader in:
#RunWith(EvoRunner.class) #EvoRunnerParameters(mockJVMNonDeterminism = true, useVFS = true, useVNET = true, resetStaticState = true, separateClassLoader = true, useJEE = true)
if you run ES from command line, you can try the option -Duse_separate_classloader=false
i try to run my code on the server using tomcat8, spring4 and maven. Locally is everything fine, but no on the server.
jdbc.driverClassName=com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
jdbc.url=jdbc:mysql://IPADDRESS:3306/streaming
jdbc.username=root
jdbc.password=PWD
hibernate.dialect=org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLDialect
hibernate.showsql=true
hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto=create
With the same user and pwd can i connect to my DB on the server.
Hier is the output my catalina.date.log:

Any ideas?

Make sure you have the necessary user and host combinations visible in select user,host from mysql.user where user='root'
If they are not there for localhost or 127.0.0.1 or IPADDR or hostname then create them with mysql create user command and apply grants.
If the server is DNS blind and you are using a name to connect (DNS blind would not be the case for clients), then figure that angle out. For instance, my client can ping cnn.com, some of my servers cannot.
Look at most embedded exeption: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
It means, that there is some problem with network connection, not with the database itself.
Here some hints, which may help you:
make sure, that database is running on the DB server, and that ports are opened (tools like netstat may help);
check, if you can connect to the remote database with other software, for example MySQL Workbench;
check your network connection between peers. It is hard to advise anyhing detailed here, all depends on your network configuration.
I keep getting this error when I try to test a servlet I have written. When i deploy the same servlet to the production environment i get the actual application. I have double and triple check the login data for mysql. I have added port exceptions for my work station and verified that the server port is listening to me. I am trying to connect to the production database. All the connection string are the same and I have configured the context.xml to see the resource with exact spelling of the actual production system. I have also verified that the jar is present. I'm not sure what the issue is here.

Found out that because the server is a rds instance at Amazon the database was not set up for public accessibility. Restored a snapshot with the appropriate setting and we are in business.
I'm studing Java Web, and during my studies I learned that from version 4 of the JDBC no need to use the method Class.forName to load the driver. I confirmed this information in this link.
Based on this information, I developed my getConnection method without that call, but when I started my Tomcat and I went to test my method, the following exception was thrown.

I'm using on my tests:
Tomcat 8
Java 8
Eclipse Luna Service Release 1 (4.4.1)
mysql-connector-java-5.1.34-bin.jar
If I include the line Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); all works fine. Someone have any idea about this?
During the Tomcat startup, the Service Provider mechanism scans for database drivers in the $CATALINA_BASE/lib folder to register them. But this process is not executed for each web application.
Thus, the web applications that have database drivers in their WEB-INF/lib directory cannot rely on the service provider mechanism and should register the drivers explicitly.
See more in Apache Tomcat 8 - JNDI Datasource HOW-TO.
After a recent server failure and new cluster setup the web app for a BIRT report stopped working. I found that the Tomcat server it was stored on was offline so I started the service and now I get the following error message when trying to view the report:
org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.api.EngineException: An exception occurred during processing. Please see the following message for details:
Cannot open the connection for the driver: org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc.

Everything was working fine before the server failure but now I'm guessing the problem is with the JDBC listener. Does anyone know how to get it running again? There was an OS cluster and a database cluster but it was set up on the database server.
Thanks
You need to set new JDBC connection parameters for your report data sources, since DB host migrated/switched to clustered environment. Old connection parameters are probably pointing to old environment setup. Check out port connectivity to database using telnet.
