Maven: Compilation error package does not exist. How to add an extra source directory for maven to compile

I am working on Spring boot application with different project structure please find the attached screenshot.
When I go to eclipse and select Run as --> Maven Build with 'clean install' command it gives below error:
**[ERROR] COMPILATION ERROR :
[INFO] -------------------------------------------------------------
[ERROR] /C:/Users/UserName/Downloads/project-api/src/main/java/com/project/api/dto/APIDto.java:[6,35] package com.project.publicapi.dto does not exist**
As classes under src/public/java folder which contains package com.project.publicapi.dto is not compiled.
I have tried to build explicitly and run the project it works. But while building with maven the compilation fails with above mentioned error.
Any suggestion.

Not plugin found for prefix "spring-boot" & No goals specified - Maven Project

I've executed the command >mvn clean boot-spring:run, but the build fails because of the next error:
"No plugin found for prefix 'boot-spring' in the current project and in the plugin groups [org.apache.maven.plugins, org.codehaus.mojo] available from the repositories [local ], spring-releases https://repo.spring.io/libs-release, central ]
In addition, if I write >mvn -X or >mvn -e, it launchs the error message:
"No goals have been specified for this build. You must specify a valid lifecycle phase or a goal in the format : or [:]:. Available lifecycle phases are: (...)"
and the shows a list of names (verify, install, process-sources, etc.).

How can I avoid the error above?
If you want to pass version as the property you have to define them:
<properties>
<liferay.version>your_liferay_version</liferay.version>
<liferay.maven.plugin.version>your_maven_plugin_version</liferay.maven.plugin.version>
</properties>
You configured the versions in a profile.
If you don't need profiles, dont use any, and configure the resources globally (for your pom) in
<project><properties><liferay.version>....</liferay.version>
if you want to use profiles, you can read :
http://maven.apache.org/guides/introduction/introduction-to-profiles.html
