Apache POI ClasDefNotFoundException when in fat jar compiled with Maven

I had a pom.xml that was previously working, creating a fat .jar library with all the dependencies I need inside of it. Then I needed to use the library Apache POI, then I added this to my pom.xml

Then, using Eclipse, I run my JUnit tests, that covered the code which I am with the problem. Ok, then I run a Maven Build using Eclipse and then copied the .jar to the place where I am using.
When I called it, I got this error:

The code snippet that has the problem is this, in its first line, when creating XSSFWorkbook:

I wanted to run maven-assembly-plugin and create a jar file with all dependencies added to it. When I run java -jar jarfile.jar, I get the below error:
no main manifest attribute, in target/jarfile.jar
I went through several Stack Overflow posts for the same and tried all permutations and combinations. I tried adding both assembly and shade plugins. You can see the settings I have in my pom.xml above. I'm not really sure on how this is happening even though I added proper maven settings.
I verified that Java is running fine:
I verified whether I specified the main class correctly.
Everything looks fine for me except the results and I'm confused at the moment.
What might be going wrong? I expect some of them still mark the question as "duplicate", but I have been reading other posts and tried changing the settings accordingly. None of them worked.

Adding External JAR in Maven Causes NoClassDefFoundError

Found some other questions which are about this issue, but none of them seems to have a valid solution to solve my issue.
I have an external JAR that needs to be included in my generated jar. I'm currently doing this with:

When just running my main class within the IDE, everything works fine as it's supposed to. When however trying to run the Maven generated JAR, I'm getting a NoClassDefFoundError error. I already tried to generate a 'fat'/'shaded' jar and all that stuff, but none of it helps.
I also tried to install the jar with the Maven Install Plugin (https://eureka.ykyuen.info/2014/06/10/maven-include-system-scope-dependency-in-maven-assembly-plugin/), but this gives the exact same error as I get with my current solution.

This causes the JRPiCam jar to be in the /lib output directory together with the log4j depdendencies, but the JRPiCam still doesn't work.

I fixed this issue by uploading the jar to a private Nexus Repo. Other solutions that really 'solve' the main issue are always welcome..

Netbeans runtime configuration in jar

I have a maven project and jni4net is one of the dependency and it's running fine in Netbeans. But when i package it into a jar i get the error java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no jni4net.n-0.8.8.0 in java.library.path. I solved this problem in Netbenas by setting Working directory and VM Options in Project Properties -> Run. Now is there a way to include these configurations while packaging it as jar, or any other solution.

IntelliJ Maven Selenium Build jar

I am using IntelliJ 12, Java 7, Selenium 2.31.0 and Maven. I can run my tests out of the IDE just fine but I am running into a problem trying to create a jar file. I can create the jar file double clicking on mvn clean and then double clicking install. All is well and the jar is created. The problem occurs when I go to run the jar via command line.

Returns: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/openqa/selenium/WebDriver
I have added selenium-server-standalone-2.31.0.jar as a library in the project settings and as a dependency module in the project settings. I must be missing something in my pom file but I just don't know what it is. I have also attached my pom file as well.

You have to add your dependencies to the classpath when you run your program:
java -cp "selenium-java.jar:..." -jar xyz-selenium-test-1.0.jar
Maven also allows you to run a Main class with all the required dependencies in the classpath (see option 1 in the previous link).
Otherwise you can create a Jar with dependencies, which will contain everything you need to run your code:
