For some reason I found in my lib folder the following jar log4j-1.2.14.jar. I want to exclude this jar from my final war, so I tried mvn dependency:tree but I couldn't find the parent dependency.
Also I tried to open Dependency Hierarchy from Eclipse but also I couldn't find this jar. How can I exclude this jar?

A dependency that has another dependency that has the scope provided won't lead to that provided dependency being on the classpath. It probably is there because it is needed for testing or building.
So what you should do is check your end deployment unit (your own jar/war) and check if the jar is there in the lib directory. If it is something else is managing/including that dependency. (You can use mvn dependency:tree to figure out which one).
For more information on the Maven scopes, check this. How to include a certain version of Log4j2 (when you are using it) with Spring Boot is described in this Spring.io blog-post.

SLF4JLoggerContext cannot be cast to LoggerContext

I get known error:
Getting Exception org.apache.logging.slf4j.SLF4JLoggerContext cannot be cast to org.apache.logging.log4j.core.LoggerContext
I know that the solution is to remove log4j-to-slf4j from the classpath, as described here: Getting Exception org.apache.logging.slf4j.SLF4JLoggerContext cannot be cast to org.apache.logging.log4j.core.LoggerContext
But the project is build with maven and contains spring-boot-starter-web which imports the dependency. I can not get rid from spring-boot-starter-web, and I need log4j.
Here is the pom:

In Maven, you can exclude a sub dependency from a dependency. Try this:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.apache.logging.log4j</groupId>
<artifactId>log4j-to-slf4j</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
For me is spring-boot-starter-logging conflict with log4j-spring-boot, I exclude the log4j from spring-boot-starter-logging
<!-- Karate log depends on logback during test -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-logging</artifactId>
<scope>test</scope>
<exclusions>
<!-- Exclude the log4j that conflict with log4j-spring-boot -->
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.apache.logging.log4j</groupId>
<artifactId>log4j-to-slf4j</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>

Class not found in dynamic web project using maven in eclipse

I'm trying to connect to a JDBC database in my maven project, however the provider class path could not be found in the project. When I try the same code in a normal java project it works. Does anyone know how to include the classpath or something to solve this problem?
Class.forName("com.amazonaws.athena.jdbc.AthenaDriver");
Properties properties = new Properties();
properties.setProperty("user", user);
properties.setProperty("password", password);
properties.setProperty("aws_credentials_provider_class", "athena.AmazonCredentialsProvider");
connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:awsathena://athena.us-east-1.amazonaws.com:443", properties);

server is not refering to my dependency jar from my war but when I place the same jar in the server lib it works fine

I am working on a java webapplication in Netbeans8.0 IDE, apache-tomcat server.
I have three projects one of which has the parent pom.xml and the other two have their own POM.xml
This application has legacy code and in the runtime it references the ojdbc6 jars from the server lib. Now the management wants us to move all the dependency jars to the war's Web-Inf/lib
We have the jars downloaded in our local folder of the application, but for some reason, it is not getting referenced from the Web-INF when I moved them to the pom.xml, I thought that I may be wrong with the group and artifactID. So I am directly referring it from codeIds maven repository, Now I have two issues
1. I see this jar in the Web-Inf only if I build with dependency
2. after seeing it in the Web-Inf, when I debug or run it I am getting ojdbc-driver exception in the runtime.
But when I move the same jar to server/lib it works fine.
I spent almost this whole week to resolve this issue with the help of many documents from the internet but no luck.
My pom.xml parent

Just downloading a jar and putting it to the project folder is not the "maven way"...
If you want to use a library which is not in the central repo you have either to put it in your local repo or use another remote repo.
If I understood correctly you have choosen to use the code.lds.org repo.
What I can't see in your pom is the (real) dependency. There is only the dependency management for the ojdbc6.
You have to add this to you <dependencies> section and run mvn package (or in Netbeans build) and the ojdbc6 jar should be packaged into the war.
<dependency>
<groupId>com.oracle</groupId>
<artifactId>ojdbc6</artifactId>
</dependency>
(Version is skipped here, because it is already defined in the <dependencyManagement>; <type>jar</type> is not needed because its the default...)
You could also look at this question, maybe there are some more/other informations: Oracle JDBC ojdbc6 Jar as a Maven Dependency

how can I configure artifactory to work as mirror of eclipse link for Java persistence?

I have an internal repository at work, but I need to use the javax.persistence 2.0.3 by eclipse, if I change my settings.xml to work with internal repository, maven cannot find this artifact, if I remove it can resolve the depency and execute the enhancement goal. I try to add the repo http://download.eclipse.org/rt/eclipselink/maven.repo as external repository in artifactory, it seems to connect to this, but when I update my dependency not work, I add the repository tag to my pom but it doesn't solve the problem again. What can I do?
My settings.xml look so

Using the trace command usually gives you the answer why certain dependency can't be downloaded.
In your case it will look like:
http://foo.address.com:8081/artifactory/repo/org/eclipse/persistence/javax.persistence/2.0.3/javax.persistence-2.0.3.pom?trace
Once you will run it you will be able to see that this artifact is not found in the eclipse repo, nor in maven central.
2.0.5 works, BTW.

No classes found in classes folder inside war

I converted my eclipse project to maven by creating a pom.xml file. I built the .war file by maven build command by specifying the goal
clean compile install
and it build successfully. Now when I am running it on appache tomcate it throws no class found exceptions as I check .war/WEB-INF/classes folder is empty. Why classes folder is empty? Is this the reason why .war is not running on apache.
Please let me know if you need any further details

It is very hard to know the exact problem with so few details, however my guess would be that you have the wrong directory structure. Your code must be in the src/main/java/packagepath directory otherwise maven will not be able to find it and will create an empty jar/war.
As an additional note, the compile phase is included when you invoke the install phase so you do not need to explicitly call it.
