JSON by Jackson: hide field name but keep the value - java

I am creating a JSON using Jackson library.
For example I have an Employee with fields: name, surname, and a list of pair of info as showed below

I would like to get in the JSON, of course with the fields name and surname, the field addresses populated as list of the couple of values (as array in the JSON), but without, inside the array, the field list.
How can do that?
I tried with #JsonIgnore but all the field and the value disappear.
To get this at the end:

instead to be:
{"name":"giulio", "surname":"marri", "addresses":[{"list":["roma","piazza liberta'"]},{"list":["torino","via torre"]}}

you can use #JsonValue to get the addresses as list of lists with no field name:

JSON to Java object with Random Key

I am trying to convert following JSON to Java object and ending up with UnrecognizedPropertyException.

Here "5214" is the random key that I get. I can covert it by modifying JSON little bit. But I want to know whether any possible way to convert the mentioned JSON. I even tried with following snippet taking some reference.

I would use custom deserializer with few helper classes. To make the code (matter of opinion I guess) clearer, create the list object:

Then this list seems to be inside an object, say Wrapper:

So there is annotation #JsonDeserializer that handles deserializing Wrapper. It is not possible to directly deserialize unknown field names to some defined type so we need to use mechanism like this custom deserializer that inspects what is inside Wrapper and determines what to deserialize and how.
And here is how the deserializer works:

Please check it carefully it is not perfect in sense finding alwasy the correct node and maybe the instantiation can be done in other ways better. But it shoudl give you a hunch how it could be done.

Java iterate over class fields to create other class

I have a class like this:

and I want to convert it to something like this:

I want to have a method to iterate through the Example class so it will produce the Test class without including d attribute. How to achieve that?
This is something you can do easily with reflection. In the example below, I renamed class Test to Property because it represents a key-value pair. If you are happy with using whatever toString() returns as the value for a field, then the solution is pretty simple:

This sample requires you to specify the names of the desired fields explicitly, for example:
List<Property> properties = Property.toProperties(myExample, "a", "b", "c");
If you'd rather have the fields be auto-detected based on some criterion (for example all primitive and String-typed fields, then you could add this logic within toProperties and get rid of the varargs.
you would need to have some appropriate getters in class Example, and a proper constructor in class Test to initialize the object instance variables like

Then for each instance of class Example - lets say you have multiple of those in an array or list - you could iterate over them, retrieve the values you want via the getter methods, and initialize one Test object for each one, eg
List<Test> yourListOfTestInstances = new ArrayList<>();
for (Example exampleObject : yourExampleObjectsListOrArray) {
yourListOfTestInstances.add(new Test(exampleObject.getA() , exampleObject.getB()));
}
Then for each created Test instance inside your ArrayList, you could easily build your JSON as needed (even though I do not fully understand why you even need at all this intermediate Test class to do that)

How do I create Json Array in Java8 and only print json if I set value for it?

I am trying to generate the following using fasterxml jackson.. but I am stuck. I can't seem to work out how to create arrays.

1) How do I add the list:[ ... ] array & the sort: [ ] at the end too?
2) In class PrintJson, I don't set value for groupOf but it is still created in Json. How do I set it so if I set value, it is printed.. otherwise it is not included in the json being printed.

Answer: You can create two more classes one for list and one for sort. Now in the class DynamicJsonHelper you can add both of them like you have added accId or isEnabled
and they will be printed. Make sure to add the fields you want in them as instance variables in both of the classes. For example for list you can have a class like:

Now add a field in your class DynamicJsonHelper as List<StudentList>. Similarly you can do for sort.

Answer: You can either use Object mapper and set it to ignore the null fields during serialization. For eg: mapper.setSerializationInclusion(Include.NON_NULL);
Or you can set it at class level to ignore null values if any. For eg:

As mentioned in the comments by aBnormaLz above doesn't work if the type is primitive like you have for isEnabled. So consider changing it to Boolean and ensure the same for other fields also.

You missed a point that you have to have third class and it must have property of type java.util.List or array and name list for your example.
e.g.
public class JsonHolder {

then you have to create that object and when you created your DynamicJsonHelper put it into list or array.
After all you can serialize JsonHolder object and you will see your java List or Array as JSON array.
UPD: just note that in JSON structure like { ... } is an object and in Java there must be a class for it.
So, starting with JSON structure you posted

it is an object (let name it JsonHolder) with properties named setAcctId, groupOf, isEnabled, list, sort
So you have to have a Java class for it (similar as you did for your DynamicJsonHelper. You can use any #Json annotations you'd like to the same way (I omitted them and left for you). Even you will not have them Jackson or any other JSON serialiser will use property names in Java class by as default.
I mean as example your #JsonProperty("accId")
#JsonProperty("accId")
public void setAccId(String accId)
is not required as long as getter/setter/property named also getAcctId, setAcctId, acctId. Jackson will use that if there is no #JsonProperty annotation.
BTW it is better to do it as you did for code readability. :-)
Per your question:
list and sort properties in JSON are arrays. Jackson parses Java collections classes like List, Set or Arrays to JSON arrays.
Then according to required JSON structure list property is a such collection of DynamicJsonHelper objects you created. in Java class, List or Array is just your choice - use what is more suitable for you. I recommend to use a List rather than Array. Work with arrays in Java is not a good idea. :-)
So far you just created a Java class DynamicJsonHelper only for objects which must be in list property of JsonHolder object. What's left is to create that "JsonHolder" class and give that object to Jackson to serialize it into required JSON structure.
There are bunch of #Json annotations you can use to allow or not null or empty values, change property names, exclude Java class properties to be serialized and so, and so... All is up to you... good luck!

Java JSON deserialize String with property names as field names

I am receiving from API json like that:

Now I want to deserialize it to class, so this class(Stats) will have fields like channel, startTime and so on.
But how to handle countries property?
I thought about making class Countries but not sure about that cause it's have "US" as property name. Not "country": "US". And what's more it has own parameters. How to deserialize it?
Mostly I am using ObjectMapper object.readValue(jsonString) to do that but don't know how to handle 'countries'. In example is just one country 'US' but can be more.

In your Stats class you should declare countries as map of Country objects:

Now you can deserialize you object:

Stats stats = mapper.readValue(jsonString, Stats.class);
After deserialization your Stack object will get map with one Country object with key "US".
Basically, you need to define a POJO like ViewInfo that has the attributes like channel, startTime, endTime and so on. countries is also another attribute, but it isn't a primitive, it's like a map with country code as the key and Country as another POJO (which has attributes like uniques, views and so on). This way, you should be able to deserialize the json into this pojo.

How to rename root key in JSON serialization with Jackson

I am using Jackson for JSON serialization of a list of objects.
Here is what I get:

Well, by default Jackson uses one of two annotations when trying to determine the root name to be displayed for wrapped values - #XmlRootElement or #JsonRootName. It expects this annotation to be on the type being serialized, else it will use the simple name of the type as the root name.
In your case, you are serializing a list, which is why the root name is 'ArrayList' (simple name of the type being serialized). Each element in the list may be of a type annotated with #JsonRootName, but the list itself is not.
When the root value you are trying to wrap is a collection then you need some way of defining the wrap name:
Holder/Wrapper Class
You can create a wrapper class to hold the list, with an annotation to define the desired property name (you only need to use this method when you do not have direct control of the ObjectMapper/JSON transformation process):

This is the preferable option. Use a configured ObjectWriter instance to generate the JSON. In particular, we are interested in the withRootName method:
