hello guys i've come from a very long issue where i was obliged to remove the /System/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0 and the 1.6. now i downloaded the JavaForMacOSX10.5Update1, because it's not available anymore on the software updater, and run it.Now i can't find it in /System/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ where i'm expecting it.where should i find it? thanks i need for running various projects thanks for reading this.
If you manually have removed it, the software update system does not know that it is gone.
I would suggest doing a Time Machine backup, reinstall the machine from the isntallation media, and restore the Time Machine backup. This should repair everything, but might take a while.

I have IntelliJ IDEA Community Edition 15. I am not the admin of my Windows 10 desktop, but I have been trying extremely hard to get IntelliJ to work. I got the administrator to allow the installation of IntelliJ, but it would not let me run the program. Once I run it, IntelliJ will have an error message reading something like this:
Administrator Policy 1% is restricted by Administrator Policy 2%.
It gives no help whatsoever in how to fix this, but I realized there is this problem for many other of my Java-using applications. I have poured many days trying to research and fix this problem, but I have found no success. Please help. Thank You!
Also, if you extract the JDK (instead of installing it), you can get away with "not having to install java", which some administrators dislike.
TL;DR: Apple has dropped native feature support in Java. Especially touchpad gestures are not working any longer. I wrote a library that does the job using JNI. Take a look at my answer below.
I'm searching for about hours to make the Apple Java Extensions work on JDK 7 or 8. I have been trying all I can think of. All threads on the internet about this simply blame the JDK for this. I think this should be solvable, because it worked in JDK 6. For clarity: I can make it work in JDK 6, but I don't want this legacy dependency, because not everybody that will use my application has JDK 6 or knows how to install it, let's say. The goal is to make a double-clickable JAR file that will run as expected with the OS X features (menu bar, gestures, about handler, etc...) with every version of Java installed (greater than JDK 6).
Since the developer preview release of OS X El Capitan, it became impossible for 99% of average computer users to install Java 6, so this was no longer an option for me. I finally decided to write a native library that will inform Java about gestures through JNI. The project works great and is hosted on GitHub.
Take a look at it here:

I just happened to run across your question and noted that it has not been answered yet. I have a Java program that I have been developing on the Mac, and noted that when I ran it under Java 7, the menu bar, Preferences, Quit and About all worked fine using rt. jar in the program's libraries folder and using a MacAppMenuHandler class that I wrote to provide functionality for those items.
However, when I switched to Java 8, they no longer worked. I'm not sure what the issue is though reading other web sites today suggest a "permissions" issue in Java 8 regarding these files.
However, I solved the problem by copying the rt. jar from Java 7 into the program's libraries, and it has continued to work for me while continuing to develop under Java 8.
I suggest this as one possible solution to the problem.
Hope this helps.
Go on your project Properties and select the Java Build Path Libraries, your JRE System Library should have an Access rules field like the one displayed in the image
Hit the Edit button and add an access rule to allow access to the com.apple.eawt package.
I had the same problem with "pinch to zoom" - it works in java 6 but not 7 or 8. I came across this bug in the jdk which seems to be responsible. It says it is fixed in Java 9.
I have been looking for a solution to this problem because I want to use this software in my mac but seems not to work any of the solutions I found..
of course installing the latest version of JAVA -> JDK 7
changing sqldeveloper-Darwin.conf and SetJavaHome /Library/java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_51.jdk/Contents/Home
same but changed to /Home/bin just to try diff solutions to the problem
I also changed the sqldeveloper.conf and put the SetJavaHome /Library/java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_51.jdk/Contents/Home there
try to run the sqldeveloper (/Applications/SQLDeveloper.app/Contents/Resources/sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin) shell waiting to see if was going to prompt me or ask me for JDK or whatever a set it to /usr (but never happened)
going crazy now, so decide to make the post to see if someone can help or figure which step I am missing and maybe not seen the mistake..
This is where the program hangs...

I really hope, someone can help me, I really tired of booting on Windows to run SQL Developer plus I find it kinda dumb that Oracle don't encounter this kind of issue to make users experience more nice.. ;)
There is one solution. I have been using SQL Developer for some time now, and i am not happy about it (I am on a MAC btw), there are so many bugs and the intellisense sucks. It is a functional program nevertheless.
Download and use navicat instead. Or try to find another one instead. It might not be the solution you are looking for, but i will recommend it.

When i try to launch it any way, Java ME just freezes. To be more specific, javaw.exe called by device-manager.exe seems to go into infinite loop, since not a single exception or error message is passed. Icon in tray appears, but its menu, instead of devices list, shows only one entry: Exit, which incidentally doesn't work. I can only shutdown it through task manager. And since device-manager is required for emulator, i can't work with it at all.
I tried versions 3.0,3.2,3.3 of Java ME SDK and this problem persists in each one. OS: Windows 7. JDK: 7u25.
I've tried each and every advice i found on the Internet and still can't get it working. Device-manager log shows that the problem starts upon calling "rmiRegistryPortFile".
[2013-07-02 19:20:53.070] DEBUG - strap.BasicObjectConfiguration - Calling create on rmiRegistryPortFile
That's always the last entry in the log.
There was only one way i've managed to get it working - by installing and running it under Windows Virtual PC. Curious thing is, under VM it's working fine in the same very OS (freshly installed Windows 7). But unfortunately that didn't really give much on the cause of the bug, and that's not a solution :( I have to somehow get it working without VM.
I tried reinstalling Windows, that didn't help. Looked through javaw I/O in Process Monitor and compared it with working one. It looks like one of the application threads suddenly shuts down after reading file "rt.jar" (when loading "rmiRegistryPortFile" i guess?), whereas working javaw writes to log-file immediately after that. Windows logs got nothing on the subject: no permission issues, no errors or warnings at the time.
Tried modifying PATH variable to the dir with rmiregistry.exe, did not help. Network sockets are available. Changed DEP settings, same.
Could anyone please help? I've spent days on this bug already.
It's definitely a permission problem. Try to look if any folder related to Java is "READ ONLY".
If you get this error message when trying to run midlets through the built-in emulator of the JavaME SDK 3.0, try disabling DEP for runMidlet.exe.
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) configuration can be found at the following place in Windows: Control Panel > System Security > System > Advanced system Settings > Advanced tab > Performance > Data Execution Prevention.
Add this file to the DEP exclusion list:
<javame-install-dir>\runtimes\cldc-hi-javafx\bin\runMidlet.exe
If things work for you now, complain loudly to Sun (now Oracle) that they need to make software without buffer overflows.
Personally I filed a bug-report against the JavaME SDK 3.0. You should do that too, or make your voice heard on the same bug-report that you're having this problem as well.
Freshly installed windows doesn't have msvcrtXX.dlls
Go to folder runtimes\\cdc-hi\\bin and copy Microsoft.VC80.CRT into runtimes\\cldc-hi-javafx\\bin. This problem will be fixed over autoupdate soon.
Problem with localhost
Please edit <javamesdk_installdir>\\toolkit-lib\\modules\\bootstrap\\conf\\system.properties and change
device-manager.object-registry.host=localhost to: device-manager.object-registry.host=127.0.0.1
Port 1299 might be taken
Please edit <javamesdk_installdir>\\toolkit-lib\\modules\\bootstrap\\conf\\system.properties and change
device-manager.object-registry.port=1299 to: device-manager.object-registry.port=1999
XP 64-bit
Please use 32-bit version of JDK.
Firewall
Make sure that firewall is not blocking communication on ports given in 3. Default port numbers are 1299 for windows and 1999 for Mac.
I have tried all those steps above to no avail, until I replaced my JDK jdk-8u117 with jdk-8u112 (Must be 32 bit) after reading this thread https://community.oracle.com/thread/4009110. I had to restart my machine after changing the Java version because it was not detecting right away after installation. I'm using Netbeans 7.4.
I installed Netbeans IDE on Mac OS X few weeks ago. In the code-completion window while writing Java code, I always get the proper full list of possible code completions but in the window that pops-up which is supposed to display JDK documentation entry (all details) for each possible completion, it always say that JDK documentation was not found! It never happened to me when I worked on Windows.
I even downloaded and explicitly added JDK docs library to Netbeans library but to no use. Has anybody faced such problem? Please help! Thanks a lot in advance.
Well since nobody else answered and I had the same issue, but wasn't motivated enough to figure it out, I tracked down the way to do it... look here.
The only changes I did was to use the latest JavaDoc instead of the 1.5 one and to use Java Platforms in step 3 (I am using Netbeans 6.5, I guess the menu structure changed from when he did it).
