Hibernate: org.hibernate.AssertionFailure: null id in com.xxx.Bean entry - java

I was faced to the following error:
com.google.gwt.user.server.rpc.UnexpectedException: Service method 'public abstract void com.xxx.Service.save(com.xxx.Bean)' threw an unexpected exception: org.hibernate.AssertionFailure: null id in com.xxx.Bean entry (don't flush the Session after an exception occurs)

Here is MySQL table definition:
CREATE TABLE `tblARF` (
`ARF_ID` bigint(19) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
`ARF_MANUFACTURER_MNF_ID` bigint(19) NOT NULL,
...
PRIMARY KEY (`ARF_ID`),
KEY `ARF_MANUFACTURER_MNF_ID` (`ARF_MANUFACTURER_MNF_ID`)
)
And here is Hibernate mapping:
<class name="Bean" table="tblARF">
<id name="key" type="long" unsaved-value="null">
<column name="ARF_ID" not-null="true"/>
<generator class="identity" />
</id>
<many-to-one column="ARF_MANUFACTURER_MNF_ID" name="manufacturer"
class="ManufacturerBean" not-null="true" lazy="false"/>
...
</class>
Java code:
Session s = hibernate.getCurrentSession();
Transaction t = s.beginTransaction();
s.merge(bean.getManufacturer());
s.save(bean);
t.commit();
I noticed that if I remove KEY ARF_MANUFACTURER_MNF_ID (ARF_MANUFACTURER_MNF_ID) than AssertionFailure doesn't happen. Is there a way to avoid this error without removing the KEY?
This solution doesn't work for me unfortunately.

The answer was found here:
https://forum.hibernate.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1009141
'order' is a reserved keyword in SQL
so if you want to use if as a column
name it needs to be quoted. See
http://docs.jboss.org/hibernate/core/3.6/reference/en-US/html/mapping.html#mapping-quotedidentifiers for instructions how to
enabled this.

The Exception you have posted said what the problem is:
Caused by: org.hibernate.AssertionFailure: null id in com.xxx.Bean entry (don't flush the Session after an exception occurs)
In Hibernate you have to throw away the Hibernate Session after a Session related Exception occures.
But I guess that is not your question.
You need to set the ID of your Bean or use <generator class="native" /> (#GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO)) instead.
Added
try to replace: merge by save

I'm not sure whether it's related to your problem, but note the wrong usage of merge().
merge() doesn't make the object passed into it persistent, it returns another instance with the same state instead, so you should write
bean.setManufacturer(s.merge(bean.getManufacturer()));

Sometimes the real error lies somewhere else. To check the exact error use Debug mode and make use of printstacktrace() method of exception. It gives you the more detailed reason. In my case I had used String where the column was of type int.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening "org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: could not execute query"?

Our server is running on client site from last one year, but last night suddenly the server stopped responding because of some SQL/Hibernate exception, but after restarting server everything started working again.
Here is our hibernate configurations(.hbm.xml):

You are using an old mysql driver, use
com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
The nested exception suggests that something on the MySQL server-side has interrupted the query. I suggest you check the MySQL logs, and the system log (on the database server) for clues as to the possible cause.
There is not enough evidence to say whether the root cause is in Hibernate, C3PO, MySQL or the JDBC driver. Or something else. Without knowing what the root cause, nobody can confidently suggest a fix. (Or at least, nobody can do that with justifiable confidence. IMO.)

Issue with Hibernate and Apache Tomcat

I use Hibernate implementation of JPA in my project, with Apache Tomcat as server and PostgreSQL as database. From some time, I got an error, that isn't present every time. After I got it, if I restart the server, in general every thing goes well. Bellow is the stack trace:

Question: I can't understand why I get this error. If you think you can suggest what's the issue, just do it please.
(N.B. If you need more details just tell me).
The PostgreSQL logs should tell more but you may be running out of
connections. Check max-connections in postgresql.conf. Link to doc for 9.1
out of memory and the oom-killer kills your connection. Link to doc for 9.1 and an article on PostgreSQL memory management and linux
My problem was related to connections, as #BGR suggested. There was a funnction that created a connection (an EntityManager on hibernate) and forgot to close() it. After some time - because that function was called relatively frequent - the maximum connections number specified in my configuration file was filled up, and resulted that behaviour.

I tried to use google to solve my problem and get this post as searching result:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF28/Fix+'Not+supported+by+BasicDataSource'+Setup+or+Startup+Error
So it seems that i need additional configuration on cloud tomcat but i don't have access to it.
May be i missed something. Could you please advice some solution and working code example?
P.S. I know about jdbc template, actually it is not good solution because my task is practice with JPA.
If you only have one type of RDBMS service in your application, then you wont even need to use the <cloud> namespace. If you look at the following docs page: http://docs.cloudfoundry.com/frameworks/java/spring/spring.html
and look at the "Relational Database (MySQL and vFabric Postgres)", you can see how auto-reconfiguration works.
This solution also work for me not related to the cloud. I move my dataSource to Tomcat instead of manully creating it in application and get same error. Removing hibernate.connection.username and hibernate.connection.password from properties help to solve this issue as discribed here:
Fix 'Not supported by BasicDataSource' Setup or Startup Error
add packagesToScan into your EntityManagerFactory configuration
<bean id="entityManagerFactory"
class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean">
<property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource" />
<property name="packagesToScan" value="com.example.domain" />

Spring Hibernate - Saving multiple entities associated with each other

I'm trying save 3 entities, address, name and employee, with employee containing an address and a name. I already made the DAO's for each entity, but for some reason, this exception keeps popping up even when the address and the name have already been saved and flushed.

Anybody got any ideas on this?
As per the your exception, one of the reason was 'addressID' is mandatory in database and while inserting that value is missing.i can assume ''addressID' is primary key and that value is not generating while save.
java.sql.SQLException: Field 'addressID' doesn't have a default value
In your database is the address id column marked as auto incrementing? That's assuming that you want the database to generate ids for you.

HQL : LEFT OUTER JOIN

I have two tables and respective classes in java.The mapping in the HBM.xml is as follows :
<class name="com.hcl.spring.db.sample.model.Parts" table="MARM_PARTS">
<id name="partNo" type="int" column="PART_NO">
<generator class="increment" />
</id>
<property name="imageId" column="IMAGE_ID"></property>
<property name="groupId" column="GROUP_ID"></property>
</class>
<class name="com.hcl.spring.db.sample.model.Reports" table="MARM_REPORTS">
<id name="reportId" type="int" column="REPORT_ID">
<generator class="increment" />
</id>
<property name="noteId" column="NOTE_ID"></property>
<property name="deptNo" column="DEPT_NO"></property>
<property name="badgeNo" column="BADGE_NO"></property>
<many-to-one
name="parts" class="com.hcl.spring.db.sample.model.Parts"
column="partNo"
update="false" />
The query in the HBM.xml is as follows :
<query name="selectReports">
from Reports as rep left join rep.parts as parts
</query>
I am getting the following exception while executing the code :

Do request your help on the same.
You have many-to-one relationship, which means many Reports are linked to 1 Part. So your model should look like this:
class Report {
private Part part;
}
And query like this:
from Report r where r.part.imageId = :value
PS. Naming your classes in plural form is not a good idea.
