So it has worked before you killed Eclipse/Tomcat by taskmanager? Maybe the deploy or work folder of Tomcat is actually dirty while Eclipse still thinks that it is clean. Rightclick Tomcat in Eclipse (first shutdown Tomcat if not done yet) and choose Clean and then Publish and then start it.

Java Restful Web Service using Jersey implementation developed in Eclipse IDE not deployed and call on JBoss server

I have created a web service that uses Jersey implementation. It is working fine when using it locally in system. But, it creates problem when i deploy it on JBoss AS 7 server. Somehow i resolved that problem by adding following code in web.xml file :
<context-param>
<param-name> resteasy.scan </param-name>
<param-value>false</param-value>
</context-param>
<context-param>
<param-name> resteasy.scan.providers </param-name>

Is anyone have faced this problem ? If yes, then kindly reply.
Thanks in advance.
I was getting a similar issue and this is what made it work. I had to go through a lot of posts here in which it kept emphasizing the entries need to be set right in web.xml and for my case this is where the problem seemed to occur.
This was a piece of my service class:
package com.tel.rest.customer;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.util.List;
import javax.ws.rs.*;
import javax.ws.rs.core.MediaType;
import javax.ws.rs.core.Response;
import javax.xml.bind.annotation.XmlRootElement;
import org.json.JSONException;
import com.sun.jersey.api.JResponse;
#Path("/PR/customers")
#XmlRootElement
public class Customer{...}
The web.xml was something like this:
<welcome-file-list>
<welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
<welcome-file>index.htm</welcome-file>
<welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file>
<welcome-file>default.html</welcome-file>
<welcome-file>default.htm</welcome-file>
<welcome-file>default.jsp</welcome-file>
</welcome-file-list>

<param-value>com.eteller.rest.customer</param-value>
</init-param>
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Jersey REST Service</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/api/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
<context-param>
<param-name>resteasy.scan</param-name>
<param-value>false</param-value>
</context-param>
<context-param>
<param-name>resteasy.scan.providers</param-name>
<param-value>false</param-value>
</context-param>
<context-param>
<param-name>resteasy.scan.resources</param-name>
<param-value>false</param-value>
</context-param>
This was the error i was seeing:

To fix this I had to remove these line of codes from the web.xml to make sure that JBoss can do what it needs to do:
<init-param>
<param-name>com.sun.jersey.config.property.packages</param-name>
<param-value>com.eteller.rest.customer</param-value>
</init-param>
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
Once i removed this from my web.xml I was able to deploy and use the services on my JBoss server.
Not sure if this helps but you could try it.

Ali.

Could somebody explain what is the problem?
Try this configuration or rename your config accordingly :
I prefer to name the servlet as 'dispatcher' and it's context file as dispatcher-servlet.xml. It worked fine for me.
<servlet>
<servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
<param-value>/WEB-INF/spring/appServlet/dispatcher-servlet.xml</param-value>

</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
The Servlet.init() errors mainly occur due to mismatching of versions of the Jar files of your spring MVC, Check out all your libraries by right click on the project>properties>build path, and remove any mismatched jar release.
Also delete the jar library from your lib folder.
Build the project again and the run it.
try this out:
servlet-context.xml:

I'm playing with Spring Framework in IntelliJ IDEA 13.1.1.
In IntelliJ I choose: File -> New Project -> Spring -> Spring MVC -> Create Project From Template. It creates default Spring project with configuration of deploying WAR:exploded to Tomcat Server. I change nothing to the default configuration. It builds and deploys correctly, but the result is following:

This occurs on two different machines, under Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7.
I downloaded some other Spring MVC projects from the Internet and they run just fine, so I guess the problem is with the files IntelliJ generates automatically, which I find weird. However, I was not able to find which part causes this problem.

I was facing the same problem and changing the JAVA SDK (File >> Project

First you need to add the listener class on web.xml, its the ContextLoaderListener
after your </servlet-mapping> add:
<listener>
<listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class>
</listener>
If you get errors about the mvc-dispatcher-servlet.xml location add this to the top of <servlet>:
<context-param>
<param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
<param-value>/WEB-INF/mvc-dispatcher-servlet.xml</param-value>
</context-param>

Deploying WAR file on Apache Tomcat - Not working

I implemented an API in Java using Eclipse and exported it in the form of a war file.
It is working fine on the system I developed it on.
This is the web.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<web-app xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_3_0.xsd" id="WebApp_ID" version="3.0">
<display-name>Favorite-API</display-name>
<servlet>
<servlet-name>Favorite-API</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>com.sun.jersey.spi.container.servlet.ServletContainer</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>com.sun.jersey.config.property.packages</param-name>
<param-value>favorite.api</param-value>
</init-param>
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Favorite-API</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/rest-videos/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
</web-app>
Now I want to deploy the API on another system.
Hence I took the war file and deployed it on the Apache Tomcat server of the other machine, following the steps given here.
But on running the API I am getting the following error:
HTTP Status 500 -

What is going wrong? Any help please.
You might have some dependencies missing in your class path.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/objectweb/asm/ClassVisitor
Assume your development tomcat has this class/package but not in the tomcat which you are trying to deploy the war.
class def not found for servlet means something servlet api that is regularly available to tomcat is now missing for some reason. Possibly the jar file in tomcat's lib folder (maybe other jar files in the tomcat lib folder) have become corrupted or removed. Both have happened to me at times, bad virtual machine to work on, failed disk, or a maven based build process that would deploy additional api to the lib folder and delete things in there before copying the new lib files.
Seems you are missing the ObjectWeb ASM artifact in your $TOMCAT_HOME/lib directory.
It sounds like the tomcat use does not have permissions to unpack the WAR file into relevant directories, which means the application itself cannot find required classes.
Ensure that Tomcat can write to the temp, work and webapps folder, and their subdirectories.

Custom error page does not work with Weld & Tomcat7

In my web application I'm trying to use custom error page.
However this does not work with Weld. When I navigate to a non-existing page in my app instead of getting custom error page I see exception from Weld:

I thought that this is bug in Tomcat:
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=50789
however it has been fixed in v.7.0.9
Excerpt from my web.xml:
<error-page>
<exception-type>java.lang.Exception</exception-type>
<location>/pages/error.xhtml</location>
</error-page>
<error-page>
<error-code>500</error-code>
<location>/pages/error.xhtml</location>
</error-page>
<error-page>
<error-code>404</error-code>
<location>/pages/pageNotFound.xhtml</location>
</error-page>
I'm using Tomcat 7.0.19, JSF 2.0 and Weld 1.1.2.
Any ideas what happens?
In context of weld only weld-servlet.jar is present in classpath, nothing more
