Anyone knows why Tomcat deliberately left some empty packages, including org.apache.juli, in catalina.jar? I need org.apache.juli.logging.*, any idea where to find those classes? Thanks
The available versions are:
juli-6.0.13.jar in org/apache/tomcat/juli/6.0.13
juli-6.0.13.jar in org/apache/tomcat/extras/juli/6.0.13
juli-6.0.14.jar in org/apache/tomcat/juli/6.0.14
juli-6.0.14.jar in org/apache/tomcat/extras/juli/6.0.14
juli-6.0.16.jar in org/apache/tomcat/juli/6.0.16
juli-6.0.16.jar in org/apache/tomcat/extras/juli/6.0.16
juli-6.0.18.jar in org/apache/tomcat/juli/6.0.18
juli-6.0.18.jar in org/apache/tomcat/extras/juli/6.0.18
Try one of those.

I have below code in old version. Now I have upgraded the axis2 version from 1.1.1 to 1.6.2. It then have compile problem as indicated below. I find in the web with link: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AXIS2-4363
But I do not understand it. First of all Do I need to amend code? If yes, is there any example for me to follow?
if (reader.getEventType() == javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamConstants.START_ELEMENT && reader.getName().equals(new javax.xml.namespace.QName(org.apache.axiom.om.impl.MTOMConstants.XOP_NAMESPACE_URI, org.apache.axiom.om.impl.MTOMConstants.XOP_INCLUDE)))
{
java.lang.String id = org.apache.axiom.om.util.ElementHelper.getContentID(reader, "UTF-8");
object.set_return(((org.apache.axiom.soap.impl.builder.MTOMStAXSOAPModelBuilder)
((org.apache.axiom.om.impl.llom.OMStAXWrapper)
reader).getBuilder()).getDataHandler(id));
<--- highlight this The type org.apache.axiom.om.impl.llom.OMStAXWrapper is not visible
reader.next();
reader.next();
}
This appears to be generated code. If you upgrade from Axis2 1.1.1 to 1.6.2, then you need to regenerate that code. Note that the usual best practice applies here: generated code should always be generated during the build, not checked into the source control system.
Currenty I have a web project with JSF 1.2 and Facelets running in tomcat 6.0.18.0. I decided to upgrade the servlet container, thus i deployed in tomcat 7 and all seemed ok until we hit one view using my custome facelet functions.
javax.el.ELException: Failed to parse the expression [{pz:instanceof(object,'com.project.domain.MyClass')}]
Caused by: org.apache.el.parser.ParseException: Encountered " ":" ": "" at line 1, column 5. Was expecting one of:
"}" ...
"." ...
"[" ...
This error occurs when parsing the following code:
<ui:repeat var="object" value="#{objects}">
<ui:fragment rendered="#{pz:instanceof(object,'com.project.domain.MyClass')}">
...
If i understand correctly it throws an error because of the colon in the expression . I have tracked it down to the jasper-el that come with in the tomcat/lib directory, and if I replace jasper.jar and jasper-el.jar with the ones from tomcat 6.0.18 everythign works well.
Has anyone else had this problem before upgrading their tomcat? And How did they resolve it?
Could I deploy in production tomcat 7 with these jasper jar from tomcat 6, or could this cause further problems.
This is actually a misleading exception. It has a different underlying cause. The function name instanceof is invalid.
The EL 2.2 specification says the following:
1.14 Reserved Words
The following words are reserved for the language and must not be used as
identifiers.
and eq gt true instanceof
or ne le false empty
not lt ge null div mod
Note that many of these words are not in the language now, but they may be in the
future, so developers must avoid using these words.
and
1.19 Collected Syntax
...
Identifier ::= Java language identifier
...
Where the Java language identifier stands for keywords like instanceof, if, while, class, return, static, new, etc. They may not be used as variable/function names in EL. In case you have properties with those names, use the brace notation instead like so #{bean['class'].simpleName} instead of #{bean.class.simpleName}.
This was been fixed in Tomcat 7.0.4 or somewhere near before this version as indicated by issue 50147 wherein someone else pointed out the same problem as you have. So, to solve your problem, you have to rename your EL function name to for example isInstanceOf or something.
Add this line in catalina.properties ([tomcat folder]/conf), and it should fix the issue.
org.apache.el.parser.SKIP_IDENTIFIER_CHECK=true
However, you should not use the reserved words.
You can also try changing the syntax. I had the same exact problem with code that I was maintaining when we were moving from Tomcat 6 to 7. I had to change myobject.class.name to myobject['class'].name. After I made this change my code worked perfectly again.
Great hint, indeed! I had to change in my jspx ${instance.class.simpleName == ...} with ${instance['class'].simpleName eq ...}.
I was moving from vFabric on tomcat 6 to vFabric on tomcat 7
With reference to my previous question,
Executing a lisp function from Java
I was able to call lisp code from Java using ABCL.
But the problem is, the already existing lisp code uses CL-PPCRE package.
I can not compile the code as it says 'CL-PPCRE not found'.
I have tried different approaches to add that package,
including
1) how does one compile a clisp program which uses cl-ppcre?
2)https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/cl-ppcre/juSfOhEDa1k
Doesnot work!
Other thing is, that executing (compile-file aima.asd) works perfectly fine although it does also require cl-pprce
(defpackage #:aima-asd
(:use :cl :asdf))
(in-package :aima-asd)
(defsystem aima
:name "aima"
:version "0.1"
:components ((:file "defpackage")
(:file "main" :depends-on ("defpackage")))
:depends-on (:cl-ppcre))
The final java code is
interpreter.eval("(load \"aima/asdf.lisp\")");
interpreter.eval("(compile-file \"aima/aima.asd\")");
interpreter.eval("(compile-file \"aima/defpackage.lisp\")");
interpreter.eval("(in-package :aima)");
interpreter.eval("(load \"aima/aima.lisp\")");
interpreter.eval("(aima-load 'all)");
The error message is
Error loading C:/Users/Administrator.NUIG-1Z7HN12/workspace/aima/probability/domains/edit-nets.lisp at line 376 (offset 16389)
#<THREAD "main" {3A188AF2}>: Debugger invoked on condition of type READER-ERROR
The package "CL-PPCRE" can't be found.
[1] AIMA(1):
Can anyone help me?
You need to load cl-ppcre before you can use it. You can do that by using (asdf:load-system :aima), provided that you put both aima and cl-ppcre into locations that your ASDF searches.
I used QuickLisp to add cl-ppcre (because nothing else worked for me).
Here is what I did
(load \"~/QuickLisp.lisp\")")
(quicklisp-quickstart:install)
(load "~/quicklisp/setup.lisp")
(ql:quickload :cl-ppcre)
First 2 lines are only a one time things. Once quickLisp is installed you can start from line 3.
I'm using the owl2java plugin to generate Java code from an Ontology file. But I'm always getting de same error.

Thanks you a lot.
I looked at the top line on your exception, and see com.hp.hpl.jena.ontology.impl.TransitivePropertyImpl.
Googling for that leads to a version of the source code. It may not be exactly the same version as you're using, but is probably close enough to be informative. Reading the code leads to these questions:
Does your Model have a profile? It must.
Does the profile support Transitivity? It must.
Are you combining Transitive with something else that it's incompatible with?
I have a problem while transforming the xslt to pdf in java, i am following the same process posted in this link

Please let me know what could be the problem.
As described in the documentation
Thrown if an application tries to call a specified method of a class (either static or instance), and that class no longer has a definition of that method.
Here's how this can happen. Imagine you built some code that used a library with a method called foo(). You compiled your project and then later decided to upgrade the library. You do this by overwriting the old jar file with the new one. You don't recompile your code.
But what you didn't know is the new library removed the foo() method. Now if you run your code, it will throw this exception because your compile code calls this method and it's no longer there.
In your specific case, this isn't necessarily your code with the problem. It could be that you have one library that uses another library and the problem is there (for example, Library X uses version 2 of Library Y, but you only have Library Y version 1 in your classpath). If this is happening, you need to make sure the libraries are using the version they expect.
For your specific problem, you need to find the version of the jar that has org.apache.xmlgraphics.java2d.GraphicContext in it and it needs to have a constructor that takes a... list of org/apache/xmlgraphics/java2d/GraphicContext... maybe. I forget what (L...;)V means.
