Google has announced its new framework for Android, its a home automation system API developed for android.
I would like to know, whether they have released the SDK for this framework or not, because my googling didnt help.
Please let me know, about it.
As far as I know, Android#Home is just concept. To develop it, you need to check AOA(Android Open Accessory) API and ADK(Android open accessory Development Kits). There are two type: USB and Bluetooth. Some videos introduce the demo of Android Home Automation using NFC.

I'm an iOS developer, but I recently developed an Android app for a customer, because they were unable to find a developer. So I made it and it works. But, I'm a complete newbie.
My customer says that their users complain than the app is not available for the newest versions of Android. I build the app against the latest version of the SDK. How do I make it compatible with new versions of Android?
The Play console lets you see thousands of devices in the app ecosystem, whether they are compatible with your app, and why. The help article gives more details.
I am trying to make an application which uses speech to text for command input. I am making this for Android 6.0.1 and 5.1.1. I started by trying the examples with Google services, but none of them seem to work on my devices. Most of the time there is no clear error or a crash. I have gotten the no network error while using wifi and mobile internet. For the record, I did try to use the Google app speech recognition directly, but this gave no error nor answer. After that I have tried other examples which seem to not use Google services. I would also prefer for the example to work offline, but this is more of a preference than a requirement. I am looking for an example for android speech recognition which does not use any of the google services.
Some of the examples that I have tried:
Did not work on a device without Google -
https://github.com/gotev/android-speech
I got a ERROR_INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS error (RECORD_AUDIO and INTERNET were allowed) -
http://www.truiton.com/2014/06/android-speech-recognition-without-dialog-custom-activity/
My main question is if such thing is at all possible and if yes then how (an example please)?
edit 1:
Fixed the insufficient permissions error using the example from:
https://inducesmile.com/android/android-6-marshmallow-runtime-permissions-request-example/
Now I am getting ERROR_CLIENT error (I have no idea what it means).
edit 2:
the project
logcat output
Android devices ship with Google Mobile Services and some platform level functionality, such as an implementation of a RecognitionService which is used by SpeechRecognizer. The built-in service has support for offline functionality (and you can actually specify via option you prefer offline use). When not using offline support, it will need INTERNET permission.
However, your issue is most likely with the RECORD_AUDIO permission, particularly on Android 6+. Starting with Android 6 (Marshmallow, API 23) you have to use the runtime permissions model to gain access to any dangerous permission (which RECORD_AUDIO is.)
I am a web developer, recently i have developed a android app using cordova.
But my application is slow, so i deside to developed the same app using andoid no native code. But the challenge is making same gui. i am new in android.
So my question is that what tools i use for gui design, and is there any framework like bootstrap? thanks in advance.
Maybe this might help: http://www.androidbootstrap.com/
Github link: https://github.com/AndroidBootstrap/android-bootstrap
Android app is also a browser app designed in xml, what kind of app you want to build if its an offline app you have design in xml but if it's online app (ex: playstore) you can use WebView it gives you a browser(with your webpage address hard coded in it) within an app and there you can open your mobile website.
Just like other apps do flipcart, jstdial, amazon etc.
Tools: Android Studio is best but for Start download Eclipse Atd bundle its comparatively light later you can switch to Android Studio.
Unfortunately there is no
and
www.androidbootstrap.com/
You have to do all your design in xml resource, where you can use tags like - style, selector, layer-list, item, shape etc. And these resources have to be controlled dynamically using java (in activity).
In Developers documentation of android (provided by Google) you will find details Style elements
I am on the lookout for doing analytics for a desktop application written in Java. I came across two services viz: TrackerBird and DesktopMetrics , but for a small time developer like me , those services are not affordable.
Google analytics has android support. So I was wondering if I could use the same in the desktop application which is on Java.I am looking for a headsup if anyone has implemented the same and tips on how to proceed on using GA on desktop.
the SO link here says no , but I think it can be done.
Here is the link of google code on using GA in android , says it should bind to an application context. I was wondering if I could hack it to work in a desktop app.
There is no Google supported library for GA on desktop Java. The Google Analytics Android library has a lot of dependencies on Android infrastructure (for extracting basic user information, maintaining persistent state, and tracking application lifetime). But, since GA just boils down to HTTP image requests, it should be possible for a desktop Java app to mimic those. I have not used it, but this library looks like what you want: http://code.google.com/p/jgoogleanalytics/

Have you thought about using Mixpanel? It gives you 25,000 to 175,000 free data points a month and has a Java integration library:

I need to know how to use the jquery mobile with java coding in the same application, so I can merge some features not available in the jquery platform to make some advanced android application.
appreciate your responses.
First don't listen personne3000, apparently he never touched Phonegap.
It can be done with jQuery Mobile if you use it with Phonegap. Phonegap, while working as a wrapper for HTML5/JS/CSS will give you access to native JAVA code (Android only of course). Phonegap will give you access to the wide range of mobile phone compatibilities ranging from camera, sound record up to creating native tab bar for your app.
Here you will find a "iOS Getting started" tutorial for Phonegap/Cordova and here's an Android tutorial.
Here you can find basic Phonegap/Cordova API reference and this is just a basic list, much more can be found in 3rd party plugin list here.
In case you can't find functionality you need you can create your own plugin and here you will find a Phonegap plugin tutorial for Android platform. In case you are going to use an older version of Phonegap (pre Cordova) here's an older plugin creation tutorial.
I don't think you can directly use jQuery mobile to develop your app. However, you can :
Develop an Android application using Phonegap or Cordova in HTML5/Javascript, and use jQuery mobile, but you won't have access to Java
Use WebViews to display webpages with Javascript included. You might want to look at the addJavascriptInterface method.
Javascript and Java can't be mixed just like that in an application : they work very differently.
