I am writing a game in java and it has a grid view where you can left click on a single box (the box becomes red). How can make it so that after left clicking on a box if I keep pressing the left click and move the cursor onto another box it will keep clicking. Any suggestions ? I hope I was clear. Thanks.
You need to add a MouseMotionListener to your component.
The mouseDragged method will be called when the user moves the mouse whilst holding a mouse button down. You can then check if the cursor is over another box and fill it red.

I'd like to know if it's possible to navigate through Vaadin grid or treegrid and select an item using only keyboard arrow keys? From what i've seen while testing the components, the default behavior seems to be either to move only to one specific cell in grid or to a specific row in treegrid. Selection can be achieved if the user presses spacebar.
I've tried to add a shortcutListener to grid but it doesn't seem to work with arrow keys. And the grid scrollbar doesn't move with the selected item.
grid.addShortcutListener(new ShortcutListener("Down", KeyCode.ARROW_DOWN, null) {
#Override
public void handleAction(Object sender, Object target) {
//..//
selectedItem = dataSource.get(currentSelectedItemIndex);
grid.select(selectedItem);
grid.scrollTo(currentSelectedItemIndex); // this doesn't seem to do anything??
//..//
}
});
I guess my problem is that i don't know how to acquire event that moves selection to other cell/row.
Here's an image to represent the problem which i'm facing. The item that has only blue border was selected using arrow keys. I'd like to select an item automatically when user presses arrow keys (Down or Up) without the spacebar.

Edit1:
I'm using latest version of Vaadin - 8.1.6.
Edit2:
I tried to add couple of listeners to see if i could at least register the movement to the next/previous cell by using arrow up/down but without any luck.
Here's a list of listeners i've tried:
addSelectionListener - only registers selection after spacebar press
or mouse click. Not quite what i'm looking for.
addItemClickListener - only registers selection from mouse click.
addShortcutListener - registers pressed key but it doesn't work with arrows.
Is there any listener that could potentially help me with this issue?
The Grid component has basic keyboard navigation. If you need advanced options, like you have mentioned, for keyboard navigation, I would warmly recommend to test this add-on:

I'm getting some trouble with a toolbar I made. In this I have 4 JButtons and below a JTable, which is set on focus when my windows shows in order to see the JButtons unfilled.
This is how I set each JButton:
btn = new JButton("New");
btn.setFocusPainted(false);
btn.setBackground(SystemColor.window);
btn.setVerticalTextPosition(SwingConstants.BOTTOM);
btn.setHorizontalTextPosition(SwingConstants.CENTER);
btn.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
...
});
btn.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.HAND_CURSOR));
toolBar_General.add(btn);
btn.setIcon(new ImageIcon(MainWindow.class.getResource("/icons/file11.png")));
Example of my toolbar at start: http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=0ef950b
But after clicking on a JButton, it remains filled after itsactionListener does his work.

My question is: how can I mantain my buttons contentAreaFilled property true (so the user can tab between components in my window and see which control he has selected) and unfocus my button after the user click?
The result I would like to have is that of the first photo.
I think the call you are looking for is:
btn.setRequestFocusEnabled(false);
this will stop your buttons from taking over the focus when the mouse clicks them, achieving the goal of not having the keyboard focus painted for mouse users. However it still lets keyboard-centric users "tab over" to them.
If one of your buttons gets the initial focus, however, then the keyboard focus will still render there. In that case, you probably want to select some other sensible component to place the initial keyboard focus onto by calling:
otherComponent.requestFocusInWindow();
Are you talking about the input Focus? (the dotted rectangle a component shows when it has the focus)
You can explicitly disable a component getting the focus by calling setFocusable(false) on the component (e.g. every button). It does not prevent you from clicking on the buttons, but it does prevent you from cycling the focus with the tab-key to it.
I would like to know how can I create a mouse move after pressing a button?
I am a fish in coding starting with a simple project and would love to create a step by step clicking process where the mouse will be scrolling and pointing in a certain point, img, or maybe to a class of my project?
Currently, there is no way to force a mouse movement via Javascript mainly due to its security implications.
In your case, you can use focus to guide the user to the specific portion of the page that you want.
You cannot move the mouse in JavaScript for the moment. What you can do however is scrolling the page so that a elements goes under the mouse cursor.
My idea is to move the element you want with JavaScript under the mouse cursor. When the user clicks your button, you can, in the event handler capture the mouse coordinates and use those to place any element exactly under the mouse cursor.
The result of the mouse cursor is above this element can be achieved that way.
try to Create COM, then client will ask to accept some installation.

I am having one simple form i created using JFrame.
In which i used one small JButton in which i set text only "X", now the problem is that when i press that button some border appears around the text which should not appear.
So, how can i resolve it?
How can i remove this border.I mean to say when the user clicks then also it should not show this border.
Here Try to look at the button at the corner with red background.
Looks like a keyboard focus indicator. If you want that never appear call setFocusable(false) for that button.
How to auto scroll JTextArea on middle mouse button click? To be clear, when we click the mouse wheel (middle button) in Firefox (for example) and push it down/up we will be able to scroll the page automatically when we release the middle button, we can alo see a round icon at the point of middle button click.
Here is a screenshot of it.
I think there is no such functionality for JTextArea in Java. Is there any hack to implement it.
Any answer is appreciated.
To determine which of the Mouse buttons is pressed, these three methods from SwingUtilities could help you:
isLeftMouseButton
isMiddleMouseButton
isRightMouseButton
Based on the mouse button clicked, you can take appropriate action to scroll the JTextArea programmatically. Probably, you can use something like this:
textArea.setCaretPosition(textArea.getDocument().getLength()); -> to move to the end of the JTextArea
You can look at this link to get a good idea of positioning the cursor position in JTextArea
