Java Swing Container Won't Appear - java

I'm designing a game through Java, using swing as my GUI. NetBeans is my editor, and I'm trying to use their editor mode, however whenever I run the code, nothing appears. I tried building it into a jar, but when I run the jar nothing appears still.

When I run this code under JDK1.6, the window shows just fine. Although, I had to comment out the following line which is JDK1.7 API
setType(java.awt.Window.Type.POPUP);
And I think that line is the problem. You made it a pop-up window. I would suggest to try with Type.NORMAL.
Small side-note: you should adjust your main method to trigger the UI-code on the EDT:

I just pasted your code into Eclipse and it appears to be working (Java 7):

I am able to execute the program in Eclipse with absolutely no probs.
and my Java version is version "1.7.0_03"
But still follows these two points below to have a better approach.
1. Take out the declaration of the components from main method and put them in the Class scope, at the beginning of the class.
2. Place the setVisible(true) in the main
In the main use this...
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {

How do i get multiple double inputs separated by ; from one JtextField and store them on an array?

I have this problem in JAVA where I need to take multiple doubles separated by; from a single jTextField and store them into an array each time I click save button, I also want to set a limit of 5 inputs for example :
12;13;14;15;16 into my jtextfield and then I want it to stop until I click on save and then it became blank and so on

you can take the JTextField text with getText() method and then you can tokenize this string with StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(textField.getText(),";"). Then you can store every char between ";" with

Remember that a size of an array is static and defined when the array is declared and initialized. You can use other data structure, such as an ArrayList<T>.

How to "save" my program?

Hi guys I'm currently working on a kind of "dungeon crawler" game and i need some help with saving my program. I would like for my jFrame to save(all of my entered text)so that when i close the program and open it back up from my Desktop it will have my entered text and everything i have changed still in the program. I'm confused as to how to save and am hoping for some help. Thanks ahead of time for all of your time, anwsers, links, examples, and advice. To be clear i am new to this and only have been coding for about 5 days now and i still use the Netbeans jFrame "Design" feature to generate most of the code for me. another idea is create a separate class containing all the information you need to save.
And use the class as an object in your main class and then save the object like this.
Look into serializing a class (this is called serialization).

I think you may be able to use a FileOutputStream and PrintWriter to create an xml file with data nodes keeping data of the state of everything in the game. to read it back, you might want to use Simple API for XML (SAX). Just an idea.

Need some help copying my Map into this List

I'm doing a homework assignment using HashMap with GUI. The user will enter a Country, and the Capital of that country, and press Add, this will add those two Strings to the map, and it should add the Capital to the list on the right. The search function is next. The user will be able to type the name of the country, and it will highlight that countries capital in blue on the right among the other capitals that were added. Here is what it should look like.
How can I copy the contents of my hashMap to my JList? I only need the Capitals to display so I can search them.

How to open another jframe with button click in different package

You can do it with next code in your actionPerformed() method:
AnotherFrame f = new AnotherFrame();
f.setNeededData(/*object*/);
f.pack();
f.setVisible(true);
AnotherFrame is JFrame which you want to create and show.
setNeededData(/*object*/) is method of your frame to transfer neededData.
and last 2 lines show it.
On the click of button you can simply create the object of the JFrame which you want to open and it will load the components in it (as you must be calling initComponents() method in the default constructor).
For passing the parameters from one frame to another you can simply create a POJO and set its properties in the current frame and pass this object to the destination frame while creating the object.
