Develop Reference

Can you upgrade rundeck straight from 3.0.22 to 3.2.1 on Ubuntu 18.04.3 "bionic" with OpenJDK on GCP?

Failed with this so I did a systemctl stop rundeckd followed by an apt-get --purge remove rundeck followed by restoring three files in /etc/rundeckd (profile, framework.properties, rundeck-config.properties which I had backed up) and restarted with systemctl start rundeckd and things are working again. Now I don't want to upgrade rundeck again due to the above experience. Can one not go directly from 3.0.22 to 3.2.1 rundeck?

The value of framework.projects.dir in the default install of Rundeck 3.2 in the config file framework.properties has changed to:

I have upgraded to Spring source 3.1.0 and i am not sure why my project can no longer find the
ReflectiveLoadTimeWeaver
I have made sure to add the server runtime libraries in my build path but i still end up with BeancreationExceptions. The stack trace:

I was able to once update my server's context.xml and add the InstrumentalLoadtimeWeaver loader but it no longer works.

When you run FirstFoundationClient, you are executing a Java program that runs the Alfresco server within the same process. When that program starts up the repository it needs to know information about your repo configuration. It does this by reading the alfresco-global.properties file. Inside that file you'll see things like dir.root, which points to a directory on your local file system where indexes and content lives, and you'll see a set of db.driver and db.url properties. Your error log appears to indicate that you have not set the db.driver and db.url appropriately. For example, if you are using MySQL, make sure the following is uncommented:
db.driver=org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
db.url=jdbc:mysql://localhost/alfresco
If you already have a working Alfresco repository running in Tomcat, you might want to grab your alfresco-global.properties file that is proven to work and copy it into the source folder for the FirstFoundationClient Eclipse project and try again. Make sure your Tomcat is not running when running this example from Eclipse.

Could someone kindly explain to me why it says "Unable to locate method [receiveAward] on bean [ken]" even though I have declared a parent? Is the syntax wrong?

Note that <aop:config> sees beans before aspects are applied, therefore I guess that you can't use methods introduced by <aop:declare-parents> in other aspect declarations.
If you want to check whether <aop:declare-parents> worked, you can do something like this:
Performer p1 = (Performer) context.getBean("ken");
p1.perform();
((Contestant) p1).reveiveAward();

I think when you write
<aop:aspect ref="ken">
...
</aop:aspect>
what you are saying is that the aspect is implemented in the bean named "ken". This is not the case in your example, the aspect is in the bean "contestantDelegate". So I would try with;
<aop:aspect ref="contestantDelegate">
...
</aop:aspect>
