How to use java enum as bean in spring - java

My goal I want to achieve is to inject enum to Spring managed bean.
I do not want my bean be configured in XML (there no reason to do so except this not-working enum).
I have simple maven project:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">
<modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
<groupId>net.betlista</groupId>
<artifactId>test.spring.enum-injection</artifactId>
<version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
<version>3.1.3.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aspects</artifactId>
<version>3.1.3.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>aspectj</groupId>
<artifactId>aspectjrt</artifactId>
<version>1.5.4</version>
</dependency>
<!-- testing -->
<dependency>
<groupId>junit</groupId>
<artifactId>junit</artifactId>
<version>${junit.version}</version>
<scope>test</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-test</artifactId>
<version>3.1.3.RELEASE</version>
<scope>test</scope>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
<properties>
<junit.version>4.11</junit.version>
</properties>
</project>
I created simple test
import net.betlista.spring.enum_injection.EnumInjectionComponent;
import org.junit.Assert;
import org.junit.Test;
import org.junit.runner.RunWith;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;
import org.springframework.test.context.ContextConfiguration;
import org.springframework.test.context.junit4.SpringJUnit4ClassRunner;
#RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
#ContextConfiguration("classpath:applicationContext.xml")
public class TestClass {
#Autowired
EnumInjectionComponent component;
#Test
public void test() {
Assert.assertNotNull(component.roundingMode);
}
}
and my bean is
package net.betlista.spring.enum_injection;
import java.math.RoundingMode;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;
import org.springframework.stereotype.Component;
#Component
public class EnumInjectionComponent {
#Autowired
public RoundingMode roundingMode;
}
When I'm trying to run my test Ipm getting

root of factory hierarchy
So I have rounding bean in context.
What I missed?
edit: I just found, the problem is with Spring version 3.1.x only, in 3.2.x it works, any workaround available?
edit2: here is definition of beans
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context"

">
<context:spring-configured />
<context:annotation-config />
<context:component-scan base-package="net.betlista"/>
<bean id="rounding" class="java.math.RoundingMode" factory-method="valueOf">
<constructor-arg value="UP" />
</bean>
</beans>
edit3:
as workaround I used Dev Blanked's workaround to specify the list, and use #Value in my bean as
#Value("#{roundingModes[0]}")
public RoundingMode roundingMode;
if there is a better (nicer) solution I'd like to see it ;-)

It should be possible to provide the bare enum name and specify the value-type. below is an example where the rounding mode has been injected to a list. should be the same for a property as well.
<util:list id="roundingModes" value-type="java.math.RoundingMode">
<value>UP</value>
</util:list>

Another approach one can use is to specify UP as String and in bean implement InitializingBean interface and create the enum in afterPropertiesSet() from that String.
#Override
public void afterPropertiesSet() throws Exception {
roundingMode = RoundingMode.valueOf(roundingModeName);
}

Unsatisfied dependency error in Spring project

I have a simple Spring project which includes Product, ProductRepository and ProductdataApplication classes. It will connect to MySQL database and save product into this database via JUnit test.
Unfortunately, when I try to run a test, an error appears.
I tried to add #ComponentScan with path to the ProductRepository, #EnableJpaRepository, checked hierarchy of the project, but none of this solved the problem. Spring does not see ProductRepository class.
In one question here I saw the answer that I should add annotations only to classes, not to interfaces. Yeah, when I create ProjectRepositoryImpl that implements ProjectRepository, then inject it in JUnit test, no errors appears. However, it adds nothing to the database because of need to override all standard methods of CrudRepository. It doesn't make any sense.
I really hope for your help.
Part of error:

UPDATE
Thanks to everyone !!!
Problem was due to the exclude configuration DataSourceAutoConfiguration.class, HibernateJpaAutoConfiguration.class. It was inserted unconsciously.
The main problem was in trying to connect to the database, and I "got rid" this errors with this annotation. Haha :)
You are missing the magic word: #EnableJpaRepositories(basePackages = "package.where.your.repositories.are")
add it to your configuration class
:)
I have been through this couple of times. My two cents.
Cent #1
Try enabling component scan.
In your ProductdataApplication add component scan like this:
#SpringBootApplication
#Configuration
#ComponentScan (basePackages = "your.base.package.name.here")
Cent # 2
Also make sure if you have any Service(s) they are annotated with #Service. Try this and share your outcome.
(Key is to - scan all your repositories, configurations, services, components at load/compile time, without fail)

Problem
Unexpected Output while running a simple Aop application.
Task I did:
1) I created a Camera class and a Logger class.
The Camera class has a snap() method and the Logger class has a takePhoto() method.
public class Camera {
public void snap(){
System.out.println("SNAP");
}
}
public class Logger {
public void takePhoto(){
System.out.println(" About to take photo ... ");
}
}
2)I have configured the pointcut, aspect and advice in my beans.xml file.

Also, I have seen some previous questions but I am not able to figure out the proper solution.
Can anyone guide me how to correctly solve this problem?

Your Repository is not wired to the Controller.
#Controller
public class ManagementManufacturerController {
#Autowired
private ManufacturerService manufactureService;
----
Should do the trick. You already did this with the SessionFactory. Autowired tells Spring it should inject a Bean which matches type and/or name.
€:
Your service class is not instantiated. Difficult to say why but most likely you are missing some #ComponentScan annotation or there is an error before.
As the service just wraps the method from the repository try to directly autowire the repository instead the service class.

Spring 3.x failed to load applicationContext

I am trying to run a simple junit test on my Spring 3.x MVC project and having trouble doing so due to a test error stating how it fails to load the ApplicationContext which I do not need for this particular unit test.
I am testing a simple Controller that mocks a HTTP request that adds a user to the system but it fails.
Here is my test controller class:
#RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
#ContextConfiguration(locations = { "file:src/test/resources/controller-context-config.xml" })
public class ControllerTest {
#Autowired
private UserController controller;
private String jsonUser = "{ \"Username\":\"jonneymendoza\",\"EmailAddress\":\"jon#google.com\", \"Password\":\"12345678\",\"FirstName\":\"jono\", \"Surname\":\"richy\", \"Country\":\"united kingdom\",\"Bio\":\"Bio stuff goes here about the user. where he comes from etc etc. all is well. lets go go go\" }";
#Before
public void setup() {
//controller = new UserController();
assertNotNull(controller);
}
#Test
public void testCreateNewAccount() {
ResponseEntity<String> response = controller
.createNewAccount(new HttpEntity<String>(jsonUser));
assertEquals(HttpStatus.CREATED, response.getStatusCode());
}
}
Controller class
#Controller
public class UserController {
#RequestMapping(value = "/user", method = RequestMethod.PUT,consumes="application/json")
public ResponseEntity<String>createNewAccount(HttpEntity<String>request) {
try {
userService.registerNewUser( JSONObject.fromObject(request.getBody()));
} catch (JSONException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
return new ResponseEntity<String>("Hello World", responseHeaders, HttpStatus.BAD_REQUEST);
} catch (InvalidDataException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
return new ResponseEntity<String>("Hello World", responseHeaders, HttpStatus.BAD_REQUEST);
}
return new ResponseEntity<String>(null, responseHeaders, HttpStatus.CREATED);
}
}

Thanks
If you do not require an Application Context then remove the following annotation:
#RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
Then in the setUp create your object under test and wire it manually with your mocks, e.g.:
controller = new UserController();
controller.setUserService(mockUserService);
... etc...
If you do need an Application Context then one of the ways you can load it is by adding the #ContextConfiguration annotation. For an xml configuration it may look like the following:
#RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
#ContextConfiguration("/controller-context-config.xml")
public class ControllerTest {
...

BeanCreationException NoSuchBeanDefinitionException using Spring roo

I am getting an exception thrown when i attempt to access my service, i used spring roo to create my spring data jpa repository which generated the file applicationContext-jpa.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<beans:beans xmlns:beans="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/jpa"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/jpa http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/jpa/spring-jpa.xsd">
<repositories base-package="org.bixin.dugsi" />
</beans:beans>
My applicationContext.xml is in the same directory META-INF/spring/ and i have made sure to include the component-scan
<context:component-scan base-package="org.bixin.dugsi">
<context:exclude-filter expression=".*_Roo_.*" type="regex"/>
<context:exclude-filter expression="org.springframework.stereotype.Controller" type="annotation"/>
</context:component-scan>
The test use case in how i am using it, is below:
#RooIntegrationTest(entity = UserAccount.class)
#ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:META-INF/spring/applicationContext.xml" })
public class UserAccountIntegrationTest extends AbstractJUnit4SpringContextTests {
#PersistenceUnit(unitName = "persistenceUnit")
private EntityManagerFactory factory;
PasswordService testsPasswordService = new CustomPasswordService();
#Autowired
private AccountSettingsRepository accountSettingsRepository;
#Autowired
private AccountService accountService;
#Test
public void testAccount(){
accountService.saveAccountSettings(accountSettings);
Assert.assertNotNull(accountSettings);
}
I cant figure out what could be causing this exception, i told it exactly where to find the service implementation and repository. Full stack trace is below:

Check that your applicationContext-jpa.xml is loaded by your main context.
To do that, check that your applicationContext.xml contains:
<import resource="applicationContext-jpa.xml"/>
You're not loading the applicationContext-jpa.xml in your test. Modify the locations attribute within the ContextConfiguration annotation of the UserAccounIntegrationTest.
You'd better let Roo to create the tests with "-testAutomatically" in the "entity" command or using the command "integration test".
Roo will create the appropriate location using a wildcard: "classpath:META-INF/spring/applicationContext*.xml" in an AspectJ file (.aj) for the integration test.
NOTE: if you want to add your own applicationContex-test.xml in the test/resources folder, you need to modify the locations by adding a '' after classpath: "classpath:..."
