org.mockito.exceptions.misusing.InvalidUseOfMatchersException - java

I have this test
#Test
public void addVacancy() throws Exception{
Vacancy mockVacancy = Mockito.mock(Vacancy.class);
BindingResult mockResult= Mockito.mock(BindingResult.class);
RedirectAttributes mockRedirectAttributes=Mockito.mock(RedirectAttributes.class);
Model mockModel = Mockito.mock(Model.class);
ModelAndView modelAndView;
when(mockResult.hasErrors()).thenReturn(false);
VacancyService vacancyService = Mockito.mock(VacancyService.class);
vacancyMenuController.vacancyService = vacancyService;
modelAndView = vacancyMenuController.addVacancy(mockVacancy, mockResult, mockModel, mockRedirectAttributes);
Mockito.verify(vacancyService, Mockito.times(1)).add(Mockito.any(Vacancy.class));//good work
Mockito.verify(mockRedirectAttributes,Mockito.times(1)).addAttribute("message",anyString());// exception
}
for this method:
#RequestMapping("/addVacancy")
public ModelAndView addVacancy(#ModelAttribute("myVacancy") #Valid Vacancy vacancy,BindingResult result, Model model,RedirectAttributes redirectAttributes){
if(result.hasErrors()){
model.addAttribute("message","validation error");
return new ModelAndView("vacancyDetailsAdd");
}
vacancyService.add(vacancy);
ModelAndView mv = new ModelAndView("redirect:goToVacancyDetails");
mv.addObject("idVacancy", vacancy.getId());
redirectAttributes.addAttribute("message", "added correctly at "+ new Date());
return mv;
}
why this string is works good:
Mockito.verify(vacancyService, Mockito.times(1)).add(Mockito.any(Vacancy.class));//good work
but here I see exception
Mockito.verify(mockRedirectAttributes,Mockito.times(1)).addAttribute("message",anyString());// exception

When using matchers, all arguments have to be provided by matchers.
For example:
//correct:
someMethod(anyObject(), eq("String by matcher"));

Your addAttribute() verify needs to have eq() around the String "message".
When you use one of the matchers you have to use it for all parameters in the method.
Mockito.verify(mockRedirectAttributes,Mockito.times(1)).addAttribute(eq("message"),anyString());
See the added eq.

I am getting the following assertion error in junit

This is my test case:
public class SearchStudentDetailsServiceImpl extends JunitCommonUtil {

String sortFlag = "name";
UserService userService = (UserService) ServiceLocator.getInstance()

srchFld.setValue("stu1");
studentDetailsSearch.setId(srchFld);
userService.searchStudentDetails(studentDetailsSearch, sortFlag);
assertEquals("Result", "stu1", studentDetailsSearch.getId());

How to rewrite mockControl test to spring 4

In spring 3.6 I am testing client side according to this example: http://javacrumbs.net/spring-ws-test/
Problem is this doesn work with spring 4. It throw exception:

how should I rewrite this test to spring 4 ?
First I try to debug this error with some more information so I create class:
import net.javacrumbs.springws.test.simple.annotation.WsMockControlTestExecutionListener;
import net.javacrumbs.springws.test.util.MockMessageSenderInjector;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.config.ConfigurableListableBeanFactory;
import org.springframework.context.support.AbstractApplicationContext;
import org.springframework.test.context.TestContext;
public class WsMockControlTestExecutionSpring4Listener extends WsMockControlTestExecutionListener {
private static final String MESSAGE_SENDER_BEAN_NAME = "net.javacrumbs.springws.test.simple.annotation.WsMockControlMockWebServiceMessageSender";
private static final String MOCK_CONTROL_BEAN_NAME = "net.javacrumbs.springws.test.simple.annotation.WsMockControl";
#Override
public void prepareTestInstance(TestContext testContext) throws Exception {
ConfigurableListableBeanFactory beanFactory = ((AbstractApplicationContext) testContext.getApplicationContext())
.getBeanFactory();
if (!beanFactory.containsBean(MOCK_CONTROL_BEAN_NAME)) {
beanFactory.registerSingleton(MOCK_CONTROL_BEAN_NAME, createWsMockControlFactoryBean());
beanFactory.registerSingleton(MESSAGE_SENDER_BEAN_NAME, createMessageSender());
new MockMessageSenderInjector().postProcessBeanFactory(beanFactory);
}
}
}
and in test I used this listener:
#TestExecutionListeners({ WsMockControlTestExecutionSpring4Listener.class,
DependencyInjectionTestExecutionListener.class })
and now the weird part. Tests are again working but I really dont understand why. I did nothing. Just override method prepareTestInstance with the exactly same code as in WsMockControlTestExecutionListener. Can someone explain me this "solution"

MockMVC and Mockito returns Status expected <200> but was <415>

I'm testing an api endpoint which works from a http poster (namely PAW) but I cant get a test in the code to pass.
I'm new to both Mockito and MockMVC so any help would be appreciated.
Test below:
#Test
public void createPaymentTest() throws Exception {
User user = new User("ben", "password", "a#a.com");
SuccessResponseDTO successDTO = new SuccessResponseDTO();
successDTO.setSuccess(true);
when(userService.getLoggedInUser()).thenReturn(user);
when(paymentService.makePayment(Mockito.any(PaymentRequestDTO.class), Mockito.any(User.class))).thenReturn(successDTO.getSuccess());
this.mockMvc.perform(post("/payment")).andExpect(status().isOk())
.andExpect(content().contentType(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON)).andDo(MockMvcResultHandlers.print())
.andExpect(jsonPath("$.success").value(successDTO.getSuccess()));
}
SuccessResponseDTO just contains one attribute, a boolean 'success'.
The method it's testing is below:
#RequestMapping(value = "/payment", method = RequestMethod.POST, produces = MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_VALUE)
#ResponseBody
public SuccessResponseDTO createPayment(#RequestBody PaymentRequestDTO payment) {
User loggedInUser = userService.getLoggedInUser();
LOGGER.info("Logged in user found...creating payment...");
Assert.notNull(payment.getAccountId(), "Missing user account id");
Assert.notNull(payment.getPayeeAccountNumber(), "Missing payee acount number");
Assert.notNull(payment.getPayeeName(), "Missing payee name");
Assert.notNull(payment.getPayeeSortCode(), "Missing payee sort code");
Assert.notNull(payment.getPaymentAmount(), "Missing payee amount");
Assert.notNull(payment.getPaymentDescription(), "Missing payment description");
Boolean paymentResult = paymentService.makePayment(payment, loggedInUser);
SuccessResponseDTO successResponse = new SuccessResponseDTO();
successResponse.setSuccess(paymentResult);
return successResponse;
}

HTTP Error 415 Unsupported media type - means that you send the data which is not supported by the service. In this case it means that you don't set the Content-Type header and actual content in the request. I suppose the JSON is expected content, so your call should look like this:
this.mockMvc.perform(post("/payment").contentType(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON)
.content("{\"json\":\"request to be send\"}"))
.andExpect(status().isOk())
.and_the_rest_of_validation_part
You might also be missing some annotations on your controller class. Make sure you use #EnableWebMvc and #Controller
Check out this answer for details
Also you might add accept
mockMvc.perform(post("/api/sender/sms/")
.accept(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_UTF8)
.contentType(MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_UTF8)
.content("{ \"serviceName\":\"serviceName\", \"apiId\":\"apiId\", \"to\":\"to\", \"msg\":\"msg\" }")
)
.andExpect(MockMvcResultMatchers.status().isOk())
.andReturn();

I see that getBusGroups() is not static. This means that in busGroupsList=XYZ.getBusGroups(); XYZ is a variable. The NPE is probably thrown because XYZ is null.
securityBusService is probably null. Where is it initialized?

.category(newCategory)
.description("Maximize Resources")
.points(50)
.active(true)
.build();
Assert.assertEquals(newRPoint, this.RpointDao.findById(3));
}
I've been using debug, and both entities have the same data. Could this be caused by the equals/HashCode implementation in the entity?
Edit: added equals and hashcode:
#Override
public boolean equals(Object instance) {
if (instance == null)
return false;
if (!(instance instanceof Rpoint))
return false;
Rpoint o = (Rpoint) instance;
return new EqualsBuilder().append(this.getId(), o.getId()).
append(this.getCategory(), o.getCategory()).
append(this.getDescription(), o.getDescription()).
append(this.getPoints(), o.getPoints()).
append(this.getActive(), o.getActive()).
isEquals();
}
#Override
public int hashCode() {
return new HashCodeBuilder(23, 25).append(this.getId()).
append(this.getCategory()).
append(this.getDescription()).
append(this.getPoints()).
append(this.getActive()).
toHashCode();
}
Yes, if equals is implemented badly so that it returns false even if you use the same reference, this would definitely cause the failure. Note that it's not just a case of the data within the object being the same, but the diagnostics suggest it's the same object on both sides:
expected [...].Rpoint<com.develop.test.data.entity.Rpoint#7668e5b5>
but was: [...].Rpoint<com.develop.test.data.entity.Rpoint#7668e5b5>
The 7668e5b5 shouldn't really be treated as object identity, but it's extremely suggestive here...
Please show the equals method you're using.
