I'm trying to set up 'GWT configuration' in IntelliJ Idea using JBoss 5.1 as my server.
I add a new GWT configuration in the DevMode parameters I give this:
-noserver -startupUrl http://localhost:8080/ -logLevel INFO -codeServerPort 9997 -war "C:\Users\user\Documents\IdeaProjects\project\ru.project.maven\frontend\target\frontend-2.0.1-SNAPSHOT" ru.project.frontend.Frontend
After launch the debug configuration I am getting this in the console:
Dev Mode initialized. Startup URL: http://localhost:8080/?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997
But when I access the page using that URL I get only background of my page.
Also I get:
Connection received from 127.0.0.1:52435
in log when trying to start the page.
Point is that in eclipse the same project debugs fine. DevMod parameters is mostly the same except this:
-remoteUI "${gwt_remote_ui_server_port}:${unique_id}"
when I add this parameter in Idea it gives me error:
A port must be an integer Google Web Toolkit 2.5.1
Does anybody know how to configure debug in Idea in this situation?
Add also -nosuperDevMode as this defaults to ON(superDevMode)
This param is not mentioned in gwtproject but you can try add any not correct param and try launch. Intellij IDEA will tell you all available params.

I want to debug a Vaadin 8 app, when I launch the Gradle-Task "vaadinRun" the console tells me the debug port:
Application running on http://localhost:8080 (debugger on 8000)
Unfortunately IntelliJ doesn't attach the debugger to the port. But is listening on port 65757?
What works is to attach a remote-debug session to port 8000, but thats odd there must be a simpler way. The question is how?
IntelliJ IDEA: 2017.2.5
Gradle: 4.2.1
Gradle-Vaadin Support: com.devsoap.plugin.vaadin 1.2.5
Is only option to connect new Debug Configuration in IntelliJ for Remote and connect it to port 8000? I do not think you can configure port for Groovy plugin in IntelliJ.
You could change Groovy configuration from 8000 to 65757 but I guess that can change.
Best option for debugging Vaadin app in Intellij is using WAR packaging and deploying app in Tomcat Server.
https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/run-debug-configuration-tomcat-server.html
For those using Maven instead of Gradle, i.e. starting the Vaadin appklication with ./mvnw, you need to set the following env var to activate remote debugging on port 8000:
export MAVEN_OPTS="-Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=8000"
I have big problem to run activiti-explorer when i try access: http://localhost:8080/activiti-explorer/ tomcat shows me HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource is not available. I'm really don't have any idea why that dosen't work. Can you help me?
This what have I done on my PC:
I'm using 5.19.0 version of activiti-explorer
7.0.63 tomcat
JDK 1.8.0.77 (i think there is no point to downgrade java to previous versions (<=1.7) becouse my main application using this version)
I'm sure I have correctly configured environment variables (JAVA_HOME,JRE_HOME,PATH,CATALINA_HOME)
I configured data base connection (db.properties, context.xml) in activiti-explorer.war and i moved this file to tomcat/webapps
I don't have any errors about activiti during tomcat start
Check if activiti explorer is deployed to tomcat in manager.
http://{host}:{port}/manager/html
More info in https://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/manager-howto.html
Check the catalina.out log. There will be something in there that leads you to the solution.
Check Admin Console (cmd that runs behind) after hitting the link. most recent exception occurred will be displayed there.
I have a problem with running JHipster in Production Mode. After building the .war by
mvn -Pprod package
and uploading it to my server, I get the "normal" start page - so the page loaded, but with following errors:
"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://server.net:9080/studentenhelfer-intern-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.original/api/authentication?cacheBuster=1459611519471"
"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://server.net:9080/studentenhelfer-intern-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.original/api/logout?cacheBuster=1459611519626"
The second point - when I "install/start" the Application on the server, the database will be not created. (No tables and no data)
I can´t figure out why.... With the dev-profile everything is working fine.... (Also with the same DB settings in application-prod.yml)
Additionial Info: the spring profile has also been set to prod profile in
/etc/default/tomcat7
JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -Dspring.profiles.active=prod"
(This should be ok, yes?)
I´m using MySql as Db (with liquibase) and Maven for building. The server is a linux server (ubuntu) with Plesk 12.
For information - that´s my first experience with a linux-server. So maybe I forgot some extra configurations, but I think if the page gets loaded, the tomcat should not be the problem)
I also can´t find any "usefull" logs from catalina or tomcat...
var/log/tomcat7/catalina.out
var/log/apache2/error.log
But if someone needs to see the logs, I will post them..
Please help :(
Thanks, Fab
EDIT: I have tried to run the application on a local running tomcat -> And it works... so it´s a server-side problem?
I have developed an java ear that i deploy from my local eclipse to my local websphere 8.5 by using the publish button in eclipse. When I try to deploy my ear from command line I get an error after I try to access the webpage.
I update my ear from common line like this:
${was.dir}/profiles/${was.profile}/bin/wsadmin.sh -lang jython -username ${was.username} -password ${was.password} -c AdminApplication.updateApplicationUsingDefaultMerge('${was.app.name}', '${build.dir}/${ear.name}')
The deployment is successful but when I access my application thru my web browser I get the following message instead of seeing my application:
Error 404: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.servlet.exception.NoTargetForURIException: No target servlet configured for uri: /wwww/index.html
I have verified that the ear is ok by updating it thru the web admin interface of websphere without any configuration.
What am I doing wrong or what additional steps do I need to do to successfully update my ear?
You are using wrong command. You should use something like this:
AdminApp.update('MyAppEAR', 'app', '[ -operation update -contents
MyApp.ear -nopreCompileJSPs -installed.ear.destination C:\WAS\MyAppEAR
-nodistributeApp -useMetaDataFromBinary -nodeployejb -createMBeansForResources -noreloadEnabled -nodeployws -validateinstall warn -noprocessEmbeddedConfig -filepermission ..dll=755#..so=755#..a=755#..sl=755
-noallowDispatchRemoteInclude -noallowServiceRemoteInclude -asyncRequestDispatchType DISABLED -nouseAutoLink -noenableClientModule -clientMode isolated -novalidateSchema -MapModulesToServers [[ MyApp MyApp.war,WEB-INF/web.xml WebSphere:cell=Node02Cell,node=Node02,server=server1 ]]]' )
Also, in WebSphere Application Server you can log every command you issue through Administrative Console.
Steps
login to admin console with administrative user (e.g. wasadmin)
click "System Administration" -> "Console Preferences"
check "Enable command assistance notifications" and "Log command assistance commands"
click Apply button to save changes
You can see commands in help portlet on the upper-right side of admin console:
If you checked "Log command assistance commands", you can also see jython commands in a log file "<WAS_HOME>\profiles\<PROFILE_NAME>\logs\server1\commandAssistanceJythonCommands.log"
I'm not sure about updateApplicationUsingDefaultMerge vs update (the latter is what I use), but don't forget you also have to AdminConfig.save() after you're finished.
i am running james as window service.I have put my mailet their in config.file which further calls my my application specific libs. Now i want to debug the some classes in my application once i receive the mail. I am not getting how to start the james window service in debug mode so that i can connect to same port from my eclipse and start debugging.
One more thing is james server works fine when i start it as window service but once is start it using James.bat file it gives some errors related to my application. so looks like running james from James.bat is out. Please provide your inputs how i can start james service in debug mode. james version is 2.3.2
James doesn't support start in debug mode, so you have to start it in debug mode by yourself.
For James 3 (beta) it's easy, I assume you can use this solution for version 2.3.2 as well.
First create rundebug.bat file in JAMES\bin directory with the following content:
set JAVA_OPTS=-agentlib:jdwp=transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=8000
run.bat
Run it from command line. James server is now ready for remote debugging.
In Eclipse, create a new "Remote Java Application" in Debug Configurations dialog with default configuration. In "Project" field choose the project that contains the mailets you want to debug.
Place breakpoints and run the configuration.
Good luck!
You should uncomment following row in JAMES_HOME/bin/run.bat to get enable remote debugging:
from
rem set DEBUG=-Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8000,server=y,suspend=y
to
set DEBUG=-Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8000,server=y,suspend=y
