Hi there
I have some weird problem about my code
it says
Multiple markers at this line
- button1 cannot be resolved
- overrides
android.app.Activity.onCreate
on code
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}
which was totally fine before (button1 is the trigger which do the acts)
the error part was provided when the file created
any tip please? android noob here :s
Thank you :)
I already did clean and rebuild everything and still not working :(

Remove
android:onClick="open"
from your Xml . And try this into your OnCreate method
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
Button button1 = (Button)findViewById(R.id.button1);
button1.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v)
{
// do whatever you are doing in open method
}
}
}
Basically your code and this edit is same , but certainly something wrong going on. Hope it helps.

Try to create an adapter once and then update items
Add next code to your adapter class
ArrayList<DeliveryReportResource> listDeliveryReport = new ArrayList<DeliveryReportResource>();
public DeliveryReportAdapter(Context context) {
this.context = context;
}
public void updateItems(List<DeliveryReportResource> list) {
listDeliveryReport.clear();
listDeliveryReport.addAll(list);
notifyDataSetChanged();
}
Then create adapter once in onCreate() and place it as global variable
And now you should call adapter.updateItems(...) every time you want to change data
I have made a progress bar in Android but it is not at all working. What am I doing wrong? I have just started to learn android. Below is my code.
MainActivity.java-
public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {

EditText time;
private Handler mHandler = new Handler();
private static final int PROGRESS = 0x1;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}
public void Startbuttononclick(View view){
Button startbutton=(Button) findViewById(R.id.button);
startbutton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener(){
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
mporgress = Integer.parseInt(time.getText().toString());
progressBar.setProgress(mporgress);
new Thread(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
while (mporgress < 100) {
// Update the progress bar
mHandler.post(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
progressBar.setProgress(mporgress);
mporgress = doWork();
try{
Thread.sleep(1000);
}catch (InterruptedException e){}
}
});
}
}
}).start();
}
});
}
public void doprogress(View view) {
}
public int doWork(){
mporgress++;
return mporgress;
}
}
Activity_main.xml-

Check out this image below-

Note- Enter the time in this image is an EditText with a hint and not a TextView.
It is appearing but not working.
I have done these changes so far.-
https://i.stack.imgur.com/UujpB.png
But still the progress bar is still continuously rotating.
Seems you forgot to initialize EditText -time and ProgressBar. Init it inside onCreate:
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
progressBar =(ProgressBar) findViewById(R.id.progressBar4);
time = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.editText); //here
}
Also inside button click the bar:
progressBar = new ProgressBar(this);
mporgress = Integer.parseInt(time.getText().toString());

.............

// image = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.image);
Toolbar toolbar = (Toolbar) findViewById(R.id.toolbar);
setSupportActionBar(toolbar);
ObservableListView listView = (ObservableListView) findViewById(R.id.list);
listView.setScrollViewCallbacks(MainActivity.this);
ArrayList<String> items = new ArrayList<String>();
for (int i = 1; i <= 100; i++) {
items.add("Item " + i);

I have a simple listView via a custom adapter. Each row in the list view is composed of a ImageButton and TextView.
The idea is to change the ImageButton when user taps on it and it does not work. However, ImageButton changes for the views that are scrolled and recycled. I mean, when user scrolls down the list and comes back to the top and tap on the ImageButton it works as expected for those rows that were scrolled and back again.
Can you guys help me out what i'm missing? I'm extremely new to Android and have been stuck around this for about a week now trying to fix this.
Here's the APK for the sample test app:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pzlahtqkgj010m8/app-ListViewExample.apk?dl=0
Here are the relevant parts of my code:
avtivity_main.xml
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent" android:paddingLeft="#dimen/activity_horizontal_margin"
android:paddingRight="#dimen/activity_horizontal_margin"
android:paddingTop="#dimen/activity_vertical_margin"
android:paddingBottom="#dimen/activity_vertical_margin" tools:context=".MainActivity">
<ListView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:id="#+id/listView"
/>
</RelativeLayout>
and to render the single row in the ListView the following xml is utilized:
single_row.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:layout_marginTop="20dp"
android:layout_marginBottom="20dp"
>
<ImageButton
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:id="#+id/imageButton"
android:src="#drawable/b"
android:layout_weight="2"
style="#style/ListView.first"
android:layout_gravity="center"
/>
<TextView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge"
android:text="Large Text"
android:id="#+id/textView"
android:layout_weight="10"
android:layout_gravity="center"
/>
</LinearLayout>
coming to the Java code,
MainActivity.java is
public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {
String[] titles;
ListView list;
private listViewAdapter adapter;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
Resources res = getResources();
titles = res.getStringArray(R.array.titles);
list = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.listView);
adapter = new listViewAdapter(this, titles);
list.setAdapter(adapter);
}
}
and the custom adapter listViewAdapter.java look like this
class sListItem {
public ImageButton button;
public TextView text;
public boolean active;
}
public class listViewAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<String> {
private final String[] titles;
Context context;
private int size = 15;
public sListItem mp[] = new sListItem[size];
public listViewAdapter(Context context, String[] titles) {
super(context, R.layout.single_row, R.id.imageButton, titles);
this.context = context;
this.titles = titles;
}
#Override
public View getView(final int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
View row = inflater.inflate(R.layout.single_row, parent, false);
if(mp[position] == null)
mp[position] = new sListItem();
mp[position].button = (ImageButton) row.findViewById(R.id.imageButton);
mp[position].button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
mp[position].active = !mp[position].active;
setIcon(position, mp[position].active);
}
});
mp[position].text = (TextView) row.findViewById(R.id.textView);
mp[position].text.setText(titles[position]);
setIcon(position, mp[position].active);
return row;
}
private void setIcon(int position, boolean active) {
Drawable drawable;
if(active){
drawable = getContext().getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.a);
} else {
drawable = getContext().getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.b);
}
mp[position].button.setImageDrawable(drawable);
}
}
EDIT: Added link to sample test app.
You should tell adapter to update by calling notifydatasetchanged in the click listener
mp[position].button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
mp[position].active = !mp[position].active;
setIcon(position, mp[position].active);
notifydatasetchanged();
}
});
I'm attempting to change a TextView between two activities. The problem is, when I change the text in the other activity from main activity, it works fine, the screen goes to the other activity and the text has been changed. However I have another button which takes me to the other activity from Main, but the newly updated text has disappeared when I press it. Any help?

android:textSize="30sp"/>
</LinearLayout>
AndroidManifest.xml
Second class activity:
I presume the problem lies here:
public void onClickGoToActivity(View view) {
setContentView(R.layout.second);
}
where the newly changed TextView is being reset back to the original layout (where the TextView is empty with no text). I'm not sure how to fix this as I'm new to Android.
Thank you.
changing content view of activity is a bad idea to start another activity. Simply you just do the same thing which is
public void onClickGoToActivity(View view) {
Intent intent = new Intent(MyActivity.this, Second.class);
intent.putExtra("thetext", et.getText().toString());
startActivity(intent);
}
