Failed to get Acknowledgement of Email Send Using Java in Android? - java

i am newbie in android.I have written this code its working fine and sending email as well but when i am pressing submit button it opens "Choose an email Client" on choosing "GMAIL" it opens gmail account and send it and showing toast message "Sending Message" and email send to destination address successfully and i am still on "Email Screen" Is there any method to check if email has reached to destination address successfully it returns me "true" else it returns me "false" so that on the basis of that boolean value i can set empty values on all editboxes or Refresh all Textboxes.
ImageView submitBtn = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.askscreen_submit_btn);
submitBtn.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {

AlertDialog does not show up at the whished time. Is there a way to force the ui to reload?

The problem is not to get the Dialog to show up at all. It shows up when I comment out stuff behind dialog.show(). If i do not comment the lines behind it out, it will simple wait after the uploading in the line: 'boolean uploadSuccessful =', which just means it will never show up because i dismiss it there. It still freezes tho. Sorry for the bad explanation. And yes, I am quite new to coding for/in Android... And also yes there is a lot of code which should not change the behavior of the dialog, just didnt want to have to less to be seen. Thanks for every help in advanced! Also nothing here should be async. Please take a look:

How to open exact app with Intent.ACTION_VIEW and Uri

I am trying to open zoom app by passing uri to the intent with below and it works fine.
val intent = Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("<zoom url>"))
val packageManager = packageManager
if (intent.resolveActivity(packageManager) != null) {
startActivity(launchApp)
}
But this shows my browser also as user can select it and open the uri I pass. what I want to do is only open zoom app with the uri.
By using val activities = packageManager.queryIntentActivities(intent, PackageManager.MATCH_DEFAULT_ONLY) I can filter the apps that can open my intent but how can I select the exact app(zoom) and pass uri to it and open zoom app only with my meeting url?
May be need a packageName?
I referenced some code from Google in this
public static void openCustomTab(Activity activity,
CustomTabsIntent customTabsIntent,
Uri uri,
CustomTabFallback fallback) {
String packageName = CustomTabsHelper.getPackageNameToUse(activity);
//If we cant find a package name, it means theres no browser that supports
//Chrome Custom Tabs installed. So, we fallback to the webview
if (packageName == null) {
if (fallback != null) {
fallback.openUri(activity, uri);
}
} else {
customTabsIntent.intent.setPackage(packageName);
customTabsIntent.launchUrl(activity, uri);
}
}
it use setPackage(),then the app will open the chrome app without chooser.
This is the method of getPackageNameToUse
static final String STABLE_PACKAGE = "com.android.chrome";
static final String BETA_PACKAGE = "com.chrome.beta";
static final String DEV_PACKAGE = "com.chrome.dev";
static final String LOCAL_PACKAGE = "com.google.android.apps.chrome";
...
...
public static String getPackageNameToUse(Context context) {
if (sPackageNameToUse != null) return sPackageNameToUse;
PackageManager pm = context.getPackageManager();
// Get default VIEW intent handler.
Intent activityIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("http://www.example.com"));
ResolveInfo defaultViewHandlerInfo = pm.resolveActivity(activityIntent, 0);
String defaultViewHandlerPackageName = null;
if (defaultViewHandlerInfo != null) {
defaultViewHandlerPackageName = defaultViewHandlerInfo.activityInfo.packageName;
}
// Get all apps that can handle VIEW intents.
List<ResolveInfo> resolvedActivityList = pm.queryIntentActivities(activityIntent, 0);
List<String> packagesSupportingCustomTabs = new ArrayList<>();
for (ResolveInfo info : resolvedActivityList) {
Intent serviceIntent = new Intent();
serviceIntent.setAction(ACTION_CUSTOM_TABS_CONNECTION);
serviceIntent.setPackage(info.activityInfo.packageName);
if (pm.resolveService(serviceIntent, 0) != null) {
packagesSupportingCustomTabs.add(info.activityInfo.packageName);
}
}
// Now packagesSupportingCustomTabs contains all apps that can handle both VIEW intents
// and service calls.
if (packagesSupportingCustomTabs.isEmpty()) {
sPackageNameToUse = null;
} else if (packagesSupportingCustomTabs.size() == 1) {
sPackageNameToUse = packagesSupportingCustomTabs.get(0);
} else if (!TextUtils.isEmpty(defaultViewHandlerPackageName)
&& !hasSpecializedHandlerIntents(context, activityIntent)
&& packagesSupportingCustomTabs.contains(defaultViewHandlerPackageName)) {
sPackageNameToUse = defaultViewHandlerPackageName;
} else if (packagesSupportingCustomTabs.contains(STABLE_PACKAGE)) {
sPackageNameToUse = STABLE_PACKAGE;
} else if (packagesSupportingCustomTabs.contains(BETA_PACKAGE)) {
sPackageNameToUse = BETA_PACKAGE;
} else if (packagesSupportingCustomTabs.contains(DEV_PACKAGE)) {
sPackageNameToUse = DEV_PACKAGE;
} else if (packagesSupportingCustomTabs.contains(LOCAL_PACKAGE)) {
sPackageNameToUse = LOCAL_PACKAGE;
}
return sPackageNameToUse;
}
Maybe it will help you.

NumberFormatException For Input String "4018.B"

The following code comes from a Android App for Handheld Scanner Device; the Device should scan different Barcodes and QR codes, different digit ranges, numbers and digits;
that´s why I decided to go with .matcher instead of Regular Expressions; The following code works fine when it comes to parse combinations like "1367+700" etc.:
editBarcode.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { //tv is the TextView.
public void onClick(View v) {
code = editBarcode.getText().toString();
XXXStorageApp.getInstance().setScannedCode(code);
editBarcode.setText("");
if (ScanService.checkEnteredCode(code, basic, content, MainDetailActivity.this) == true) {
return;
}
else {
Pattern p = Pattern.compile(code);
Matcher matcher = p.matcher(Pattern.quote("\\+"));
if (matcher.find()){
retrievedItemNo = String.valueOf(matcher);
}
String intermediateItemNo = code;
String[] splitString = intermediateItemNo.split(Pattern.quote("+"));
retrievedItemNo = splitString [0];
String intermediateString = code.substring(code.indexOf("+") + 1);

}
editBarcode.setText("");
}}
however the App crashes with a
java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "4018.B"
So, the problem here is to parse a string like "4018.B+95".
I don´t know how to handle this mixed input String with .matcher and definitely don´t want to use a Regular Expression; so basically, all of the following Input Strings - including Type conversion - should be handled correctly:
1256+70
1235.B+70
1256+70+DB
1235.B+70+DB
1256+70+DB2020-123
1235.B+70+DB2020-123
1256+0+DB2020-123
1235.B+0+DB2020-123
So, basically I need a condition for .matcher() that handles input like
"1235.B"
a mixed Integer and String; I need to store it in one variable which is of type String;
the problem here is that the "." in "1235.B" is not recognized and the App crashes hence, because the Number contains a string (".B")
So, two questions here:
How can I use .matcher() to recognize if a String contains ".B" or ".C" or anything similar?
How do I handle the different Types correctly in one Variable type?
As I am stuck with this, I would appreciate any hints or help.

How to launch specific activity from GooglePlayGames invitation

I'm trying to create a new android application that is comprised of multiple mini-games. The launcher activity extends BaseGameActivity and has a sign-in button and a ListView containing all the possible games that can be played.
Inside of a mini-game activity (also extends BaseGameActivity), how can I get it to create a notification which will launch a specific Activity? Currently, when I call invitePlayersToGame, the invitation that gets sent is for the full application (Mini-Games) and not the individual game (specific dice game).
public void invitePlayersToGame(View pView) {
Intent intent = Games.RealTimeMultiplayer.getSelectOpponentsIntent(getApiClient(), 1, 1);
intent.putExtra("gameName", "Patman Yahtzee");
startActivityForResult(intent, RC_SELECT_PLAYERS);
}
Is there a way to get the notification to generate with a specific message? Is there a way to get notification to open directly to the mini-game activity without going to the main launcher activity first?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
You can send sendReliableMessage for method handshaking.
First enter a room (quickgame or send invite).
public void openInvitationIntent() {
// launch the player selection screen
// minimum: 1 other player; maximum: 1 other players
Intent intent = Games.RealTimeMultiplayer.getSelectOpponentsIntent(mGoogleApiClient, 1, 1);
startActivityForResult(intent, RC_SELECT_PLAYERS);
}
onConnected:
#Override
public void onConnected(Bundle connectionHint) {
// QuickGame
if (mGameMode == 1) {
Log.d(TAG, "onConnected() called. Sign in successful!");
Log.d(TAG, "Sign-in succeeded.");
startQuickGame();
// register listener so we are notified if we receive an invitation to play
// while we are in the game
if (connectionHint != null) {
Log.d(TAG, "onConnected: connection hint provided. Checking for invite.");
Invitation inv = connectionHint.getParcelable(Multiplayer.EXTRA_INVITATION);
if (inv != null && inv.getInvitationId() != null) {
// retrieve and cache the invitation ID
Log.d(TAG, "onConnected: connection hint has a room invite!");
acceptInviteToRoom(inv.getInvitationId());
return;
}
}
}
// Send request
else if (mGameMode == 0) {
// request code for the "select players" UI
// can be any number as long as it's unique
invitationInbox();
}
// request accepted
else {
mIncomingInvitationId = getIntent().getExtras().getString(AppConstants.RC_INVITATION_ID);
RoomConfig.Builder roomConfigBuilder = makeBasicRoomConfigBuilder();
roomConfigBuilder.setInvitationIdToAccept(mIncomingInvitationId);
Games.RealTimeMultiplayer.join(mGoogleApiClient, roomConfigBuilder.build());
// prevent screen from sleeping during handshake
getWindow().addFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON);
}
}
After this, you can send model class (includes what you need).
private void broadcastMessage(ModelGameRecievedMessage broadcastedMessage, boolean isFinal) {
try {
if ( mParticipants != null && broadcastedMessage != null) {
byte[] bytes = Utils.serialize(broadcastedMessage);
// Send to every other participant.
for (Participant p : mParticipants) {
if (p.getParticipantId().equals(mMyId)) {
continue;
}
if (p.getStatus() != Participant.STATUS_JOINED) {
continue;
}
if (mRoomId != null) {
if (isFinal) {
// final score notification must be sent via reliable broadcastedMessage
Games.RealTimeMultiplayer.sendReliableMessage(mGoogleApiClient, null, bytes,
mRoomId, p.getParticipantId());
} else {
// it's an interim score notification, so we can use unreliable
Games.RealTimeMultiplayer.sendUnreliableMessage(mGoogleApiClient, bytes,
mRoomId, p.getParticipantId());
}
}
}
Logy.l("broadcastedMessage.getMessageTypeId(); " + broadcastedMessage.getMessageTypeId());
Logy.l("broadcastedMessage.getMessage(); " + broadcastedMessage.getMessage());
}
} catch (IOException e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
finally you can reach the data on other devices:
#Override
public void onRealTimeMessageReceived(RealTimeMessage rtm) {
byte[] bufy = rtm.getMessageData();
ModelGameRecievedMessage recievedMessage = null;
try {
recievedMessage = (ModelGameRecievedMessage) Utils.deserialize(bufy);
Logy.l("recievedMessage.getMessageTypeId(); " + recievedMessage.getMessageTypeId());
Logy.l("recievedMessage.getMessage(); " + recievedMessage.getMessage());
} catch (Exception e) {
Logy.e("Exception onRealTimeMessageReceived deserialize: " + e);
}
switch (recievedMessage.getMessageTypeId()) {
case AppConstants.RC_MULTI_START_TIMEMILIS_MULTIPLAYER:

Android Paypal Integration: Sandbox to Production

I've tested my android app successfully using Paypal Sandbox environment. I am about to release my app, so want to change the paypal configuration to 'PRODUCTION'
To do this, I've changed the following for production:
private static final String CONFIG_ENVIRONMENT = PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_PRODUCTION;
private static final String CONFIG_CLIENT_ID = "my client id for production";
private static final String CONFIG_RECEIVER_EMAIL = "live-id#gmail.com";
Now when I try to make a payment using my another paypal account, I am getting error:
Login Failed
System error. Please try again later.
Same thing happens using the emulator with production settings.
My question is do I have to make any other changes to move from sandbox to production env?
Thanks
UPDATE 1
All the above settings are for the 'production' environment.
Using direct payment
I've noticed problems using paypal from my app when I name the String before onCreate so what I did was..
//When you want to initiate payment...
public void onBuyPressed(View pressed) {
PayPalPayment thingToBuy = new PayPalPayment(new BigDecimal(valuez), "USD", iu);
PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_LIVE);//etc
I dont know if "PRODUCTION" or "LIVE" makes a difference but give it a try.
I'm going to add more hope this helps this is what i did
get rid of all those paypal strings before onCreate and just when they get ready to pay have textbox with onClick is onBuyPressed...
public void onBuyPressed(View pressed) {
TextView inptP =(TextView)findViewById(R.id.WHATHEYAREBUYING);
String iu =inptP.getText().toString();
TextView inptt =(TextView)findViewById(R.id.WHATITCOST);
String it =inptt.getText().toString();
try{
double valuez =Double.parseDouble(it);
if(valuez> 0)
{
PayPalPayment thingToBuy = new PayPalPayment(new BigDecimal(valuez), "USD", iu);
Intent intent = new Intent(this, PaymentActivity.class);
TextView id =(TextView)findViewById(R.id.MYPAYPALID);
String uname = id.getText().toString();
TextView iz =(TextView)findViewById(R.id.MYPAYPALEMAIL);
String insane = iz.getText().toString();
TextView name =(TextView)findViewById(R.id.MYCUSTOMERSNAME);
String custname = name.getText().toString();
Time now = new Time();
now.setToNow();
// comment this line out for live or set to PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_SANDBOX for sandbox
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYPAL_ENVIRONMENT, PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_LIVE);
// it's important to repeat the clientId here so that the SDK has it if Android restarts your
// app midway through the payment UI flow.
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_CLIENT_ID, uname);
// Provide a payerId that uniquely identifies a user within the scope of your system,
// such as an email address or user ID.
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYER_ID, custname);
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_RECEIVER_EMAIL, insane);
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYMENT, thingToBuy);
startActivityForResult(intent, 0);
}
else{
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "You haven't entered anything.",
Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}} catch (NumberFormatException e) {
}}
#Override
protected void onActivityResult (int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK) {

//THINGS YOU WANT IT TO WHEN THE PAYMENT IS FINISHED GO BETWEEN HERE
//AND HERE
if (confirm != null) {
try {

} catch (JSONException e) {
Log.e("paymentExample", "an extremely unlikely failure occurred: ", e);
}
}
}
else if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_CANCELED) {
Log.i("paymentExample", "The user canceled.");
}
else if (resultCode == PaymentActivity.RESULT_PAYMENT_INVALID) {
Log.i("paymentExample", "An invalid payment was submitted. Please see the docs.");
}}
No need to put PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYPAL_ENVIRONMENT for live.
This is my code which is working fine.
Declare these constants is class scope. NOTE: There are two client ids in page of your application in developer Paypal. One in "Test credentials" and The other under "Live credentials" that you should click on "show" link in order to see it. Select client id of "Live credentials" if you want to release your application.
private static final String PAYPAL_CLIENT_ID = "YOUR-CLIENT-IT";
private static final String PAYPAL_RECEIVER_EMAIL = "YOUR-EMAIL";
Then define service in onCreate():
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
// start Paypal service
Intent intent = new Intent(this, PayPalService.class);
// live: don't put any environment extra
// sandbox: use PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_SANDBOX
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYPAL_ENVIRONMENT, PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_PRODUCTION);
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_CLIENT_ID, PAYPAL_CLIENT_ID);
startService(intent);
}
When user hit a button following method will run:
private void openDonateBtnPressed(BigDecimal donation) {
PayPalPayment payment = new PayPalPayment(donation, "USD", "Donation");
Intent intent = new Intent(this, PaymentActivity.class);
// comment this line out for live or set to PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_SANDBOX for sandbox
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYPAL_ENVIRONMENT, PaymentActivity.ENVIRONMENT_PRODUCTION);
// it's important to repeat the clientId here so that the SDK has it if Android restarts your
// app midway through the payment UI flow.
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_CLIENT_ID, PAYPAL_CLIENT_ID);
// Provide a payerId that uniquely identifies a user within the scope of your system,
// such as an email address or user ID.
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYER_ID, "<someuser#somedomain.com>");
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_RECEIVER_EMAIL, PAYPAL_RECEIVER_EMAIL);
intent.putExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_PAYMENT, payment);
startActivityForResult(intent, 0);
}
and this is onActivityResult():
#Override
protected void onActivityResult (int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
if (resultCode == Activity.RESULT_OK) {
PaymentConfirmation confirm = data.getParcelableExtra(PaymentActivity.EXTRA_RESULT_CONFIRMATION);
if (confirm != null) {
