I have the following HTML for embedding my Java applet:
<applet code="MyClass" URL="path/MyClass.class" height="200" width="400"></applet>
The applet does not work and I am getting the following error in the console:

What is causing this?
Thank you for your help.
Looking your error I see:
Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: MyClass cannot be cast to java.applet.Applet
Probably the JVM plugin is not loading your class correctly, I think that you have to use archive parameter instead of URL in order to specify the path to your applet classes, if is the case in code parameter you must specify the complete path mypackage.MyClass, and be sure that your applet main class extends javax.swing.JApplet or java.applet.Applet.
Also I recommend you to use < Object> and < embed> instead of < applet> because is deprecated in html4 and html5 specification:
Hope this helps,

When I googled this problem, I find that's a problem of conflict different Java JDK but I don't get it because I have the same version of java in my project and in the server.
I am working with GWT 2.8.2 and I am trying to start GWT in dev mode by invoking the main of com.google.gwt.dev.DevMode in a Linux Server.
I got the following exception when the -Djava.awt.headless property was set to false:

ya i too faced the same problem initially while executing on ubuntu.B'coz swt jar changes from OS to OS for Mac OS X mac download appropriate swt jar.Event Swt changes for 32 bit and 64 bit architecture so make sure you use proper swt jar
for msc go to below link
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.3-201306052000/swt-4.3-cocoa-macosx.zip
After waiting long finally i found jar files for that.
here
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/S-4.4M5-201401231600/
in that
Mac OSX (Mac/Cocoa/x86_64)
that is for 64 bit mac systems. I run in mac With that swt.jar

Line 89 is

Any ideas how to solve this ? I also searched online to find any help but i didn't found anything. All answers are appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Have you initialized jButton1?
Since the NullPointerException occurs an line 89, jButton1 is probably null.
To be sure, try simply System.out.println(jButton1);, if it prints out Null, it means you didn't initialize it correctly.
I don't know if it's the case, but if it is, avoid variable declarations like JButton jButton1 = null;, using JButton jButton1; instead, because by initializing a variable with null you're preventing the compiler to warn you whenever you forget to initialize an object.

Exception: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jdesktop/beansbinding/Property
I have read some places that I need to right click on my project and then go to the libraries. Once I'm there I do have Beans Binding Library installed. Also there was somewhere else where a beans.jar file is installed (which I have).
How do I solve this run-time exception?
