Making the android app connected in one session - java

I'm making this android app where you user must login to enter the app, I'm connecting my app to the database via web-services
I created the login page successfully, however, my question is, how can the user move into the second page with the same session ID and how can the system retrieve the user details who logged in in other pages
Thats my login.java code

This is a great example of persisting data across activities. To do this, the most common example is to use "Preferences" files. If you don't want the data to persist very long you either control it server-side (expire a cookie or session ID):
How do I get the SharedPreferences from a PreferenceActivity in Android?
Passing the data using intents is not bad, but if a phone call comes in and the app moves to the background, Android may kill and then restart your app causing a loss of data. That may sound "secure" but the situation could also be that the phone simply rings or the user responds to a text message, and if this happens often, your user may be irritated.
A database is typically overkill, unless you already have one along with a USER object, etc.

Hot to set alarm and notification when new message arrives from Firebase Realtime Database to android Device [duplicate]

This question already has answers here:
How to sound notifications sound when new Message arrives from Firebase Realtime Data base
(4 answers)
Closed 4 years ago.
I'm using firebase data base to create my chat applicaiton. Now that I have sucessfully completed my chat application, but when new message arrives I would like to notify user with sound and NOtification in Notification bar even when the app is not running.
I used the below code to do that
NotificationCompat.Builder builder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(this)
.setSmallIcon(R.drawable.ic_launcher)
.setContentTitle("Notifications Example")
.setContentText("This is a test notification");
Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(this, MenuScreen.class);
PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(this, 0, notificationIntent,
PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
builder.setContentIntent(contentIntent);
builder.setAutoCancel(true);
builder.setLights(Color.BLUE, 500, 500);
long[] pattern = {500,500,500,500,500,500,500,500,500};
builder.setVibrate(pattern);
builder.setStyle(new NotificationCompat.InboxStyle());
builder.setSound(Settings.System.DEFAULT_NOTIFICATION_URI)
NotificationManager manager = (NotificationManager)
getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
manager.notify(1, builder.build());
But it only set alarm when i open the chat activity, then aftearwards when new message arrives it does nothing.

Here is my Firebase Data structure file
Firebase Data Structure
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If you are using FCM, you need to understand this part of the doc before proceeding:
The onMessageReceived is provided for most message types, with the following exceptions which are listed below:
Notification messages delivered when your app is in the background. In this case, the notification is delivered to the device’s system tray. A user tap on a notification opens the app launcher by default
Messages with both notification and data payload, both background and foreground. In this case, the notification is delivered to the device’s system tray, and the data payload is delivered in the extras of the intent of your launcher Activity.
So if you need to decide the type of payload you re sending to the android device. You may want to go for Message with both Notifications and data payload so that onMessageRecieved() is invoked at all times.
You can find more details Here

Why do I get the error unhandeled exception when trying to open my inputstream in Android studio? (code posted in description)

story.fillInPlaceholder(text);
}
Intent intent = new Intent(this, Thirdactivity.class).putExtra("story",story);
startActivity(intent);
}
}
However this line: InputStream is = am.open("madlibsimple.txt");
returns the error. madlibsimple.txt is in the assetsfolder, but I
don't know what goes wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.
open(String file) can throw an error (i expect IOException) that you have to catch with an
try {
AssetManager am = getAssets();
InputStream is = am.open("madlibsimple.txt");
Story story = new Story(is);
EditText editText = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.word);
String text;
story.toString();
while (!story.isFilledIn()) {
story.read(is);
story.getNextPlaceholder();
text = editText.getText().toString();
story.fillInPlaceholder(text);
}
Intent intent = new Intent(this, Thirdactivity.class).putExtra("story",story);
startActivity(intent);
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStacktrace();
}
statement.

Getting force close when trying to parse JSON Object Android

I have created REST web service using jersey which returns JSON response. JSON response returned by web service is as follow-
{
"Disease": "Bacterial_blight",
"Control": "Foliar sprays of streptocycline sulphate # 0.5 gm/land copper-oxychlode # 3 g / l of water as and when symptoms seen."
}
I have made Android app activity for demo purpose which contains one radio button, one Edit text box and one Button to submit the parameters to REST web service. But Problem is I'm getting force close when I try to click on Submit Button.
This is the actual android activity class code-

import org.json.JSONArray;
import org.json.JSONException;
import org.json.JSONObject;
import org.json.JSONTokener;
public class DiseaseResultActivity extends AppCompatActivity {
public TextView diseaseTV;
public TextView controlMechanismTV;
public EditText etSymptom;
public RadioButton rbL;
public Button btnSubmit;
ProgressDialog dialog;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_disease_result);
diseaseTV = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.diseaseTV);
controlMechanismTV = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.controlMechanismTV);
etSymptom = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.etSymptom);
rbL = (RadioButton)findViewById(R.id.rbL1);
btnSubmit = (Button)findViewById(R.id.btnSubmit);
}
public void onClickSubmit(View view) {
RequestParams params = new RequestParams();
String affectedPart = rbL.getText().toString();
String symptom = etSymptom.getText().toString();
params.put("affectedPart", affectedPart);
params.put("symptom", symptom);
invokeWS(params);
}
/* Invocation of RESTful WS */
public void invokeWS(RequestParams params) {
dialog.show();
AsyncHttpClient client = new AsyncHttpClient();
client.get("http://192.168.0.100:8080/AgroAdvisorySystem/webapi/disease_prediction/result", params, new AsyncHttpResponseHandler(){
#Override
public void onSuccess(String response) {
dialog.hide();
try {
JSONObject obj = (JSONObject)new JSONTokener(response.toString()).nextValue();
JSONObject obj2 = obj.getJSONObject("Disease");
String disease = obj2.toString();
/*JSONObject obj = new JSONObject(response);
String disease = obj.getJSONObject("Disease").toString();*/
diseaseTV.setText(disease);
} catch (JSONException e) {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Error Occurred [Server's JSON response might be invalid]!", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
#Override
public void onFailure(int statusCode, Throwable error, String content) {
dialog.hide();
if(statusCode == 404) {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Requested resource not found", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
} else if(statusCode == 500) {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Something went wrong at server end", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
} else {
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Unexpected Error occurred! [Most common Error: Device might not be connected to Internet or remote server is not up and running]", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
}
}
});
}
}
I didn't find working solution till now that is why I am posting this as question.
So, what`s the Exception record?
It seems that the problem is in:
JSONObject obj2 = obj.getJSONObject("Disease");
where the item Disease is no longer a JSONObject.
Try obj.getSyting("Disease")

String pushStore = json.getString("data");
if(pushStore!=null) {
Intent browserIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(pushStore.getString("url")));

webframe.setWebChromeClient(new WebChromeClient());
webframe.setWebViewClient(new WebViewClient());
/** Assegno l'url di apertura del webframe */
webframe.loadUrl("http://www.dlybugs.com");
}
}
You're getting the error from this code:
pushStore.getString("url")
because pushStore is a String. It's not a JSONObject that you can call getString on. You probably want this code instead:
String pushStore = json.getString("data.url");
if(pushStore!=null) {
Intent browserIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(pushStore));
startActivity(browserIntent);
}

Use this
request.setDestinationInExternalPublicDir("/updates", "update.apk");
Added in API level 9
public DownloadManager.Request setDestinationInExternalPublicDir (String dirType, String subPath)
Set the local destination for the downloaded file to a path within the
public external storage directory (as returned by
getExternalStoragePublicDirectory(String)).
The downloaded file is not scanned by MediaScanner. But it can be made
scannable by calling allowScanningByMediaScanner().
Parameters dirType the directory type to pass to
getExternalStoragePublicDirectory(String)` subPath the path within the
external directory, including the destination filename Returns this
object Throws IllegalStateException If the external storage directory
cannot be found or created.
You can also use this version
String updatePath = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + File.separator + "Updates" + File.separator + "update.apk";
request.setDestinationUri(Uri.fromFile(new File(updatePath)))
