I asked the same question on google developer forum, looking for clear direction for the same.
I am working on a project to get meaning of English word. And Google search engine provides result comprehensively. I would like to have those results (meaning of words, it's synonym, audio source from gstatic, usage graph since 1800, etc...) as input to my program for further processing. Is Custom search engine has exposed API or Google have explicit API for this? Earlier i thought of screen scraping, but it would be much easier if Google provide API for this as well.
Thanks in Anticipation.
Check out Wikitionary
Wiktionary (whose name is a blend of the words wiki and dictionary) is
a multilingual, web-based project to create a free content dictionary
of all words in all languages. It is available in 172 languages and in
Simple English. Like its sister project Wikipedia, Wiktionary is run
by the Wikimedia Foundation, and is written collaboratively by
volunteers, dubbed "Wiktionarians". Its wiki software, MediaWiki,
allows almost anyone with access to the website to create and edit
entries.
You can access their data using the MediaWiki API, no need to scrape google search results.

I have developed dynamic website using technology like ajax, java etc, that is constantly generating new pages with ID(like http://www.enggheads.com/#!question/1419242644475) similarly like stackoverflow.com, but my sites pages is not searchable by google or any other search engine.
I want my pages show in the search result searched by search engine. How can I achieve this? I have not submitted any sitemap to google webmaster tool. is sitemap really a right solution...??? that means we have to regenerate the sitemap eachtime(or at set interval) when some one add a question on my website.
I m really very confused that how searche ngine search dynamically created pages like stackoverflow question and facebook proile.
Look up how meta tags works. Every dynamic page will have its own set tags and description.
Also it takes time for Google to index your pages.
Another reason why your website isn't shown in the results is because your key words are too common. Google indexes websites based on keywords mentioned in the meta tags. If they are very common, there will be other popular sites that are ranked above yours. Hence your site is not on the top results.
Google also takes into consideration the popularity of your website. It calls this juice. Your website juice increases and decreases based on how old your site is, and how many relevant redirections happen to and from your website.
All the points I mentioned are just a few things that come under the heading search engine optimization.
SEO is a massive concept and you will only learn it eventually as your website grows.
On the other hand, if you want Google to push your results up to the top. You can pay Google to do so. Google has the biggest advertising business.
This is because search engines can not find URLs containing /#?= . So you can rewrite you URLs. This page can help you to do this. http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/tip-trick-url-rewriting-with-asp-net
First of all, to be indexed by Google, first Google should FIND the url. Best way to be found is to have many backlinks(popularity). other wise you have to submit sitemap or URL to search engines.
Unfortunately the query "inurl:#!" giving zero results in Google. So Luiggi Mendoza is right about it.
You can try rewrite URLS using htaccess to make them SEO friendly.
I have read allot about Google drive integration and I want to save STRING into Google drive and also to retrieve, I have used this demo but it is giving me errors.
please anyone provide me demo for my requirement
First, let's clear the confusion here. Your original question refers to a demo that uses the original RESTful API (aka DriveSDKv2), where Simple Plan mentions a different API, the new Google Drive Android API (GDAA).
The GDAA, does not have the full functionality at the moment, but it can be combined with the DriveSDKv2 to supplement what's missing (delete, description, indexable, ...). On the other hand, the GDAA takes care of all synchronization, offline and caching issues. You just create, retrieve, update the files as if they were local and the magic of up/down synchronization is left to GDAA. And the missing functionality is promised soon.
If you decide to dive into GDAA, there are 3 demos available on Github at the moment:
quick start
full-blown demo
trivial example with wrapper class to create, retrieve files/folders
Both demo and trivial examples have the create functionality with a text written to a file. If you pull any of them and step through, you'll get the idea.
Google Drive searching is really amazing.
It built up a full text search index instantly right after I had uploaded the document(pdf/M$ office document).
Since I want to use this technology in my own GAE project,I was wondering
1.is there any existing api from(Google/others) provide this function
2.how to implement by myself.
On App Engine you can use Search API, to do full-test indexing & querying.
You can use following options.
Google desktop and not sure about api.
IIS index server thenyou can do query it index files too.
Dtseach is tool with api but paid.
Apache api i forgot name but will post it shortly.
I am trying to use Java to search for a String on Google. I heard about a Google API but I wasn't able to find anything useful. It should look something like this:
I have a text file. Every Line is a String which should be googled. If the first search result is from a spezific site (for example: stackoverflow.com/**), The full link will be written in a new textfile. Any ideas how to realize that?
Thanks.
You can search on Google with its Custom Search API. There's a Java Client Library for CustomSearch API available to simplify the work. Warning : "Usage is free for all users, up to 100 queries per day."
Goolge offers a RESTful service to do custom queries programmatically called the Google Custom Search API.
It is not free though: you can submit up to 100 queries per day.
I am a student and as a project i have to implement a barcode(1-D) based attendance marking system. While surfing across the web i came to know that barcode readers are a bit costly toys to purchase,so now what I want to do is I want to capture images of barcodes through a capturing device(mostly a webcam) and then process them to get the content stored in it.
I found a few projects on the internet that do the same but they use .NET f/w and I am not so familiar with .NET technology. The only project that uses java is http://sourceforge.net/projects/javabarcoderead/ but somehow i am not able to run the jar file they are providing.
SO, I would like to know about the algorithms or methods that can be used for the same or even any project from where i can get some insight on how to move further with this...
Happy Coding...
You're right, it would be very difficult to use a library with no documentation and no source code.
I'd suggest using ZXing. It's a well-documented library with lots of examples.
