RecyclerView with ToolBar - java

I'm new to material design and every time i try to use RecyclerView every thing gose wrong..
can any one know what is the problem ?

Ok, I found the issue, in your onCreateView of Recycler
recyclerView= (RecyclerView) getActivity().findViewById(R.id.recye);
change it to:
recyclerView= (RecyclerView) view.findViewById(R.id.recye);

try to edit this
<fragment
android:id="#+id/fragment"
android:name="com.example.hothyfa.recyclerandmore.Recycler"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#+id/toool"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
/>

<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:paddingBottom="#dimen/activity_vertical_margin"
android:paddingLeft="#dimen/activity_horizontal_margin"
android:paddingRight="#dimen/activity_horizontal_margin"
android:paddingTop="#dimen/activity_vertical_margin"
tools:context=".MainActivity" >
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:minHeight="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="#2196F3"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
</android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar>
<fragment
android:id="#+id/fragment"
android:name="com.example.hothyfa.recyclerandmore.Recycler"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_below="#+id/toool"
android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
tools:layout="#layout/rere" />
</RelativeLayout>

Try This:
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<android.support.v7.widget.RecyclerView
android:id="#+id/recyclerView"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:paddingTop="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:clipToPadding="false"/>
<android.support.v7.widget.Toolbar
android:id="#+id/toolbar"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="?attr/actionBarSize"
android:background="?attr/colorPrimary"/>
</FrameLayout>

Android 4.1.1 - findViewById on RecyclerView returns null in MainActivity

I'm following Android Fundamentals CodeLabs (https://developer.android.com/codelabs/android-training-create-recycler-view?index=..%2F..%2Fandroid-training#3), with minor changes given I am using a more advanced version of Android Studio (4.1.1) and am getting a null recyclerView in MainActivity onCreate method even though the view exists. I've used BasicActivity to start this project. How do I fix this?
Here my XML for fragment_first.xml:

Here my XML for fragment_first.xml:
Note that your filename is fragment_first.xml.
and here the MainActivity.java file content
Your code here seems to have nothing to do with fragment_first.xml. For example, your setContentView() call is loading activity_main.xml.
So, either your RecyclerView needs to be in activity_main.xml, your setContentView() needs to be loading fragment_first, or you otherwise need to synchronize the work in your two code snippets.

ListView only shows the first item from the arraylist

Previously I had crash issues due to the wrong reference to the resource files. Fixed that issue and updated this thread with the logical error that I am getting.
I am new to android and currently learning custom classes and adapter. While working I am facing a problem which is the listview shows the first arraylist item only.
I have attached the codes of the required files as well.
Working Activity

import androidx.appcompat.app.AppCompatActivity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.widget.ListView;
import java.util.ArrayList;

#Override

super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.listview_heritage);
lvHeritageList = findViewById(R.id.lvHeritage);
ArrayList<Heritages> heritageAryList = new ArrayList<>();
heritageAryList.add(new Heritages(R.drawable.ic_launcher_background,"Ngatapol", "Taumadi"));
heritageAryList.add(new Heritages(R.drawable.ic_launcher_foreground, "Dattatreya", "Taumadi"));
heritageAryList.add(new Heritages(R.drawable.ic_launcher_foreground, "Lu dhwakha", "Lyaaku"));
heritageAryList.add(new Heritages(R.drawable.ic_launcher_foreground, "55 jhyale Durbar", "Lyaaku"));
heritageAryList.add(new Heritages(R.drawable.ic_launcher_foreground, "Taleju Bhawani", "Lyaaku"));
HeritageAdapter heritageAdapter = new HeritageAdapter(KhowpaActivity.this, R.layout.heritages_row, heritageAryList);

</LinearLayout>
listview shows the first item only is because you have set height in heritages_row layout to match_parent which will cover the whole screen height and for the next item, you've to scroll down even if the content of the first item is not covering the whole height.
To make each row to only cover the content its displaying, use wrap_content instead of match_parent.

ListView isn't working, it is not displaying the listView on the main page

my ListView isn't working, it is not displaying the listView on the main page. Any solutions?
Does it have to do with my layout file too? I will attach the layout file below too!
I was trying to make an adapter for the listview
It is just a simple one page application which I try to learn how to use listview. Did I do any wrong about the code? I was mainly following a youtube tutorial for this but still an error occur

Instead of using ItemAdapter a custom class. If you have very simple list then just use the built-in ArrayAdapter class to register the listview.
final ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this,
android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, android.R.id.text1, items);
listView.setAdapter(adapter);
Resources res = getResources();
myListView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.myListView);
items = res.getStringArray(R.array.items);
-- > Try to check items.length in toast or console. Check if it is showing data or not.

How can I make drawer menu link to other fragment in Android Studio

I'm not using standard drawer from android studio but I'm using SlidingPanelLayout to create drawer (I made from this tutorials https://nganthony.github.io/2016/01/24/implementing-android-mini-navigation-drawer.html)
My drawer is work well but I can't figure out how can I make button link to another fragment
I use this method to call fragment in standard drawer
if (id == R.id.nav_sms) {
SMSFragment smsFragment = new SMSFragment();
FragmentManager manager = getSupportFragmentManager();
manager.beginTransaction().replace(
R.id.layout_main,
smsFragment,
smsFragment.getTag()
).commit();

override onListItemClick() method from ListFragment on MasterFragment.java . Like
public class MasterFragment extends ListFragment {
public View onCreateView (LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_master, container);
setListAdapter(new MenuListAdapter(R.layout.row_menu_action_item, getActivity(), MenuActionItem.values()));
return view;
}
#Override
public void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, int position, long id) {
super.onListItemClick(l, v, position, id);
if(position == 0){
SMSFragment smsFragment = new SMSFragment();
FragmentManager manager = getSupportFragmentManager();
manager.beginTransaction().replace(
R.id.layout_main,
smsFragment,
smsFragment.getTag()
).commit();
}
}
}
