This is really strange. I started my Spring Boot project as a single maven project and all worked perfectly. Basically it is a Spring MVC app with security and mail.
Then when I saw that some components like service, repository, model will be reused by a standalone application, I decided to split the maven project into sub-modules.
Suddenly no autowiring started to work. After some investigation I found out that I need to explicitly put the packages in my Application of the standalone app:
#ComponentScan (basePackages={"service"})
#EnableJpaRepositories(basePackages={"repository"})
#EnableAutoConfiguration
#EntityScan(basePackages={"model"})
OK, after that my custom classes started getting autowired.
But another problem appeared:
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'userServiceImpl': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: private org.springframework.mail.javamail.JavaMailSender service.impl.UserServiceImpl.mailSender; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [org.springframework.mail.javamail.JavaMailSender] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. So it looks like standard packages are not getting autowired anymore.
pom.xml of this standalone app:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-mail</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>com.sun.mail</groupId>
<artifactId>javax.mail</artifactId>
<version>1.5.4</version>
</dependency>
Please help.
Finally I got it working. Besides adding the above mentioned annotations I had to:
Add the class MailConfiguration into the package where the
standalone application resided (com.my.newsaggregator.rsscollector)
Add the standalone application base
package (com.my.newsaggregator.rsscollector) to #ComponentScan
Here is what I mean:
package com.my.newsaggregator.rsscollector;
import org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication;
import org.springframework.boot.autoconfigure.EnableAutoConfiguration;
import org.springframework.boot.orm.jpa.EntityScan;
import org.springframework.context.annotation.ComponentScan;
import org.springframework.data.jpa.repository.config.EnableJpaRepositories;
#ComponentScan (basePackages={"service","com.my.newsaggregator.rsscollector"})
#EnableJpaRepositories(basePackages={"repository"})
#EnableAutoConfiguration
#EntityScan(basePackages={"model"})
public class RsscollectorApplication {
public static void main(String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(RsscollectorApplication.class, "--debug").close();
System.out.println("done");
}
}
By the way, the same will happen to your JUnit tests. In my case I got an error about Spring Security not being autowired.
A very easy way to fix this:
Set the
scanBasePackages
to your root package, to me is :org.umasuo, so that the spring can scan all the class you need to scan.
#SpringBootApplication(scanBasePackages = "you.root.package")
public static void main(String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
}
Actually, we can have a look at how the spring do the package scan, so that we can know it well.

I have annotated my Implementation class as #Service
#Service
public class MainServiceImpl implements someDAOClass{
#Autowired
private someDAOClass someDAOClass1;
#Transactional
public list<someDAOClass> getSomeDAOClass(){
//return statement here
}
}
Additionally, my DAO class is annotated as #Repository, non-transactional. Yesterday I achieved the desired result with just using a DAO but now I made changes I am not sure why it is not all working together.
I have tried using #ComponentScan on my controller, just in case but that was futile.
As I am using STS(Eclipse), it appears I cannot create a root package and keep controller there as suggested as a solution in another SO post. Therefore, I am looking for other solutions apart from changing architecture in system explorer.
Your service implementation class should implements Service and not DAO
#Service
public class MainServiceImpl implements MainService {
You should define your bean for example:
#Bean
public MainService mainService(){
return new MainServiceImpl ();
}
The error says,
No qualifying bean of type 'domain.service.MainService' available
MainServiceImpl is a someDAOClass, not a MainService. So you should implement MainService.
I am having a problem trying to setup a #Service, ArchiveService in a library lets call it App1, which is used by my second application, App2.
I have been able to successfully setup #Repositorys from App1 which are used via #Autowired in App2 without issues.
Now I am trying to setup ArchiveService a #Service which will have multiple #Autowired archive #Repositories.
The problem happens when I try to reference the ArchiveService form within the HomeController of App2 I am running into a
Error creating bean with name 'homeController': Unsatisfied dependency expressed through field 'archiveService': No qualifying bean of type [com.miw.mcb.server.service.ArchiveService] found for dependency [com.miw.mcb.server.service.ArchiveService]: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency.
This seems odd that it says
No qualifying bean of type [app1.server.service.ArchiveService] found for dependency [app1.server.service.ArchiveService]
Question
What is wrong with my setup of the #Service, ArchiveService, for HomeController which has no problem finding the #Repository's for the various repositories used by HomeController.
UPDATE
I added the component scan of the service package to App2.
#ComponentScan(basePackages = "com.miw.mcb.server.service.archived")
I am going to have to do some reading to see if this is doing what I intend it to do. Is there another way for the #Service's to be loaded? I know the using #EnableJpaRepositories works for the repositories.
Thank you
Here is a breakdown of the classes and spring configuration.
APPLICATION 1 classes which are part of a dependent library for App2
TestRunRepository
#Repository
#Transactional
public interface TestRunRepository extends PagingAndSortingRepository<TestRun, Long> {
}
ArchivedTestRunRepository
#Repository
#Transactional
public interface ArchivedTestRunRepository extends CrudRepository<ArchivedTestRun, Long> {
}
.... (all of the archive repositories are the same)
ArchiveService
#Service
public class ArchiveService {
// setup Archive repositories
#Autowired
private ArchivedTestRunRepository archivedTestRunRepository;
#Autowired
private ArchivedTestSuiteRepository archivedTestSuiteRepository;
APPLICATION 2
HomeController
#RestController
public class HomeController {
#Autowired
private TestRunRepository testRunRepository;
#Autowired
private ArchiveService archiveService;
.......
}
AppConfig for App2
#Configuration
#EntityScan({"xxx.app1.model", "xxx.app1.model.archived"})
#EnableJpaRepositories({ "xxx.app1.dao.repository", "xxx.app1.dao.repository.archived", "xxx.app1.service" })
#SpringBootApplication
public class App2 {
...
}
On a side note I'm not sure if I actually need to list both "xxx.app1.dao.repository", "xxx.app1.dao.repository.archived" for #EnableJpaRepositories or if by defining the parent package it will pull in the subpackage.

Can you please try to replace #SpringBootApplication annotation in App2 with #SpringBootApplication(scanBasePackages = {"app1.server.service"}). I think the application only scan Entity and Repository beans, because of current configuration.
Using #SpringBootApplication(scanBasePackages = {"app1"}) might be even more useful, since it will scan not only services package but whole app1 package.
I have created a sample Spring Boot application that runs perfectly fine when service classes are all in one package , but if a Service class refers to another service class in a different package then I get the BeanCreationException
The Code for the Application is given below

}

#ComponentScan(basePackages ="com.springboot.helloworld")

#Autowired
private GreeterService greeterService;
#Override
public void run(String... args) throws Exception {
System.out.println(greeterService.greetGuest("John Doe"));
}
}
GreeterService and GreeterServiceImpl are in com.springboot.helloworld.Greeter
#Service

#Override
public String greetGuest(String greeter) {
if (greeter == null) {
return "Looged in as Guest";
}
return "Hello " + greeter + " How are you?";
}
}

You have to use the #Component annotation something like below:
#ComponentScan({"com.springboot.helloworld","service"})
Your application is clearly expecting a command line argument and you're not supplying any.
I had this issue after switching to spring 5. The problem was that an annotation processor was being run at build time to generate some helper classes, a side effect of this was that a file, spring.properties was generated. This got deployed to META-INF. When spring 5 scans for components, it checks to see if this file exists (as a resource loaded by the class loader), if it exists then it only considers the classes listed in the file when looking for components. In my case the annotation processor that generated the file wasn't looking for components, so the component classes weren't in the file. The fix was to delete the file. Without the file, then the component scanning works as expected.
I'm trying to run simple mailsender service:
#Service
public class MailService {
#Autowired
private MailSender mailSender;
#Autowired
private SimpleMailMessage templateMessage;
#Autowired
private AuthenticationService authenticationService;
public void sendMessage(SaveSurveyDTO saveSurvey) {
title += "title2";
templateMessage.setSubject(title);
// templateMessage.setTo(email.toString());
templateMessage.setTo("my#mail.com");
mailSender.send(templateMessage);
}
}
#Configuration
public class MailConfig {
#Bean
public JavaMailSenderImpl mailSender() {
JavaMailSenderImpl sender = new JavaMailSenderImpl();
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("mail.smtp.auth", true);
props.put("mail.debug", "true");
props.put("mail.smtp.host", "adres");
props.put("mail.smtp.port", "25");
props.put("mail.smtp.auth.mechanisms", "NTLM");
props.put("mail.smtp.auth.ntlm.domain", "DOMAIN");
sender.setHost("host");
sender.setPort(25);
sender.setJavaMailProperties(props);
sender.setUsername("username");
sender.setPassword("pass");
return sender;
}
}
When I'm trying to run this, I recieve the following error:

The error is telling you what is wrong:
Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [org.springframework.mail.SimpleMailMessage] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. Dependency annotations: {#org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired(required=true)}
The main issue is the fact you are having field in your service of the type SimpleMailMessage which you have annotated with #Autowired. However there is no such bean in your #Configuration class.
Either add that bean definition to your configuration (which I wouldn't recommend) or simply create the SimpleMailMessage inside your method.
public void sendMessage(SaveSurveyDTO saveSurvey) {
SimpleMailMessage message = new SimpleMailMessage();
title += "title2";
message.setSubject(title);
// templateMessage.setTo(email.toString());
message.setTo("my#mail.com");
mailSender.send(message);
}
Pro Tip
You are using Spring Boot then use it... Remove your#Configuration class and just put the configuration in application.properties. Spring Boot already has mail support (as of Spring Boot 1.2 that is!).
spring.mail.host=adres
spring.mail.port=25
spring.mail.username=username
spring.mail.password=password
spring.mail.properties.mail.smtp.auth=true
spring.mail.properties.mail.smtp.auth.mechanisms=NTLM
spring.mail.properties.mail.smtp.auth.ntlm.domain=DOMAIN
spring.mail.properties.mail.debug=true
The problem you are getting is that Spring cannot inject an instance of SimpleMailMessage:
#Autowired
private SimpleMailMessage templateMessage;
This is completely normal and you should not construct a SimpleMailMessage this way, it is not a Spring Bean. Rather, use the default constructor:
SimpleMailMessage templateMessage = new SimpleMailMessage();
and set the properties from, to, etc. according to your needs.
Please add the Qualifier like this
#Autowired
#Qualifier("mailSender")
private MailSender mailSender;
Apologies if this is a basic question, but I'm quite new to using Spring.
I have 2 maven projects set up in Eclipse, both using Spring. I would like one project to use a Spring #Service in the other project. And I am attempting to do this by annotating a member variable with the #Resource annotation. I have added a dependency on the other project in the pom.xml.
However when running this Spring is not finding the class I want to use in the other project. Is there something else I need to do in order for Spring to find objects in the other project? It works fine when all the code is in one project, so do I need to tell it to scan the other project somehow?
I've tried adding a #ComponentScan() but that hasn't helped.
EDIT: To answer the questions that people have asked of my problem. Apologies again if I am doing something fundamentally wrong with Spring or if this is basic stuff.
So, I have 2 Maven projects, both created using the Spring Tool Suite as Spring Starter Projects. Neither are web projects though, one is to be command line tool and the other is a library to be used by that tool and probably other projects when I get to them. Therefore both are being created as JAR files.
The tool has a dependency in the pom.xml on the project that is the library. It builds fine, I can get Maven to create a JAR file for it etc. As they are both Maven projects they both have the standard Maven file structure with the Java code I am after in a package in "src/main/java".
The tool is run using:
SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
and this works fine when all the classes I am wiring together are in the same project. Now I have moved some of these classes out in to another project it no longer finds them.
Next, I am currently only using Java annotations to configure spring, not XML. So I don't have the XML:
<context:annotation:config/>
present anywhere. Is this XML needed to achieve what I want to do here?
Finally, here is the stack trace I am getting:
Exception in thread "main" org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'application': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: private com.spormeon.adysis.openxdataretriever.services.OpenXDataHandler com.spormeon.adysis.openxdataretriever.Application.openxDataRetriever; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'openXDataHandler': Injection of resource dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [com.spormeon.adysis.aws.dynamodb.loaders.InventoryReportLoader] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. Thanks for all the help but I have actually discovered what I was doing wrong!
I was using the #ComponentScan annotation, but not specifying the package in the other Maven project.
Adding that in gets everything working as I require.
If this a web project (WAR or EAR) then make sure the dependencies are present in the WEB-INF/lib directory. Also post your application config. Do you have the following present in there.
<context:annotation:config/>
