I haver a list view in my android app that needs to be updated. Everything works fine, but the content is reloading every second time. For example if I reload the content once, the notifyDataSetChanged() is called, but nothing changes. On my second refresh, the data is reloaded. My third time same as first and so on.. What could be the problem? Here's my code:
private class LoadMoreDataTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void>{
#Override
protected Void doInBackground(Void... params) {
ParseQuery<ParseObject> likeQuery = ParseQuery.getQuery("Likes");
likeQuery.whereEqualTo("username", ParseUser.getCurrentUser().getUsername());
likeQuery.findInBackground(new FindCallback<ParseObject>() {
public void done(List<ParseObject> likeList, ParseException e) {
if (e == null) {
postList.clear();
try {
query = new ParseQuery<ParseObject>("Images");
query.orderByDescending("createdAt");
query.setLimit(limit += 20);
ob = query.find();
for (ParseObject num : ob) {
PostRow test1;
Like singleLike = new Like(true);
for (int i = 0; i < likeList.size(); i++) {
if (likeList.get(i).get("imgId").equals(num.getObjectId())) {
isLiked = true;
break;
} else {
isLiked = false;
}
}
singleLike.setLikeStatus(isLiked);
ParseFile img = (ParseFile) num.get("img");
test1 = new PostRow(img.getUrl().toString(), (String) num.get("username"), num.getObjectId(), singleLike, num.getInt("likeCount"));
postList.add(test1);
}
} catch (ParseException e1) {
e1.printStackTrace();
}
} else {
//error
}
}
});
return null;
}
#Override
protected void onPostExecute(Void aVoid) {
super.onPostExecute(aVoid);
adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
int position = listViewPosts.getFirstVisiblePosition();
View v = listViewPosts.getChildAt(0);
int top = (v == null) ? 0 : v.getTop();
listViewPosts.setSelectionFromTop(position, top);
}
}
Here's where I call the Async Task. It's an onrefresh listener, in another AsyncTask's onPostExecute method:
swipeRefreshLayout.setOnRefreshListener(new SwipeRefreshLayout.OnRefreshListener() {
#Override
public void onRefresh() {
new LoadMoreDataTask().execute();
swipeRefreshLayout.setRefreshing(false);
}
});

I keep getting an an error when trying to call WowZa GoCoder SDK's PlayerActivity and I am unable to understand the cause. The error appears when mStreamPlayerView.play(mStreamPlayerConfig, statusCallback) is called. Would really appreciate help on where i am going wrong

The error I get is;
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.wowza.gocoder.sdk.sampleapp/com.wowza.gocoder.sdk.sampleapp.PlayerActivity}: java.lang.RuntimeException: Invalid surface: null
You start the stream in onCreate. At this time the Surface used by WOWZPlayerView is not ready yet and the app crashes with the 'Invalid surface' error.
If you look at the sample test in the GoCoder SDK, the playback is started when the user clicks a button. Eg. when the Surface is valid.
Create a button and move your 'mStreamPlayerView.play(mStreamPlayerConfig, statusCallback);' to the button.onClick.
Or ... use any GoCoder SDK v1.7 and more recent.
Please, let me know if I can help any further.

My result that I got from server is in empDetails in onPostExecute method. In empDetails there are 3 fields EmpID, EmpType, EmpDept. Now I need to set these values to the textviews in the MainActivity.
I created object to the MainActivity then I called obj.textview But It is not accessing the textview from the MainActivity.
How can I access the textview here. Or if any other methods exists, please tell me.
Any help would be appreciated.
Try to set public static all of textviews and access it from this class directly using MainActivity.obj.setText("");
Pass the textview object from MainActivity in Constructor of CheckLoginCredentialsTask and create object of textview in MainActivity,Like this
TextView tvEmpId,tvType,tvDept_code;
CheckLoginCredentialsTask (Context context,String id,String pwd,TextView tvEmpId,TextView tvType,TextView tvDept_code)
{
this.context=context;
this.employeeId=id;
this.password=pwd;
this.tvEmpId=tvEmpId;
this.tvType=tvType;
this.tvDept_code=tvDept_code;
}
and don't create object MainActivity like this
MainActivity obj = new MainActivity();
set text in TextView
tvEmpId.setText(empDetails.EmpID);
tvType.setText(empDetails.EmpType);
tvDept_code.setText(empDetails.DEPT_CODE);
In MainActivity
TextView tvEmpId=(TextView)findViewById(R.id.tvEmpId);
TextView tvType=(TextView)findViewById(R.id.tvType);
TextView tvDept_code=(TextView)findViewById(R.id.tvDept_code);
CheckLoginCredentialsTask checkLoginCredentialsTask =new CheckLoginCredentialsTask (getApplicationContext(),"id","password",tvEmpId,tvType,tvDept_code);
checkLoginCredentialsTask.execute();
Problem is that obj you are referring to is not your actual activity, it is only an instance you created yourself, you need to assign it to the passed in value, and the reference you pass must be of type MainActivity
Change your class to the following
MainActivity obj;
public void setContextandActivity(MainActivity activity,String id,String pwd) {
this.obj=activity;
}
// Try this with on post execute
Intent data = new Intent();
[...]
if (getParent() == null) {
setResult(Activity.RESULT_OK, data);
} else {
getParent().setResult(Activity.RESULT_OK, data);
}
// write this code in your activity where you want to use it .
public void finish() {
if (mParent == null) {
int resultCode;
Intent resultData;
synchronized (this) {
resultCode = mResultCode;
resultData = mResultData;
}
if (Config.LOGV) Log.v(TAG, "Finishing self: token=" + mToken);
try {
if (ActivityManagerNative.getDefault()
.finishActivity(mToken, resultCode, resultData)) {
mFinished = true;
}
} catch (RemoteException e) {
// Empty
}
} else {
mParent.finishFromChild(this);
}
}
Access onPostexecute method from your mainactivity as below:
new CheckLoginCredentialsTask() {
#Override
protected void onPostExecute(EEmployeeHTTPResponse result) {
super.onPostExecute(result);
try {
if (result != null) {
if (result.HTTPStatusCode == 200) {
if (result.Data != null) {

EmployeeInfoResponseDTO empDetails = (EmployeeInfoResponseDTO) result.Data.ActionResult;
if (empDetails != null) {

tvType.setText(empDetails.EmpType);
tvDept_code.setText(empDetails.DEPT_CODE);
}
}
}
}
}

You have three activities, A,B and C. Start your activity B with Intent. And also start your activity C with intent. Then, if you start your activity A and wish to save data which are exist in C, then start your activity A with intent. And don't finish your activity C. And if you want to resume activity C, just call onBackPressed() from your activity A. Don't forget finishing your activity A. For this call onFinish().
I'm trying to sync a list from the handheld to the wearable. On the phone side, I have a listview and you can add items to it and on the wear side I am just displaying the same list. I'm adding items to /card/id path and adding the array size on /counter. OnDataChanged method does gets called when I add items to the list on phoneside, but when I try to read the items on wearside, it's not working. It gives nullpointer exception when I'm trying to get the connected nodes and therefor I'm not able to read the data. Here's the code and the log snapshot:

From the stacktrace it's pretty obvious that you are trying to use Wearable DataAPI from the thread without Looper - in doInBackground() method I believe. That is why it crashes.
Move this code directly into onDataChanged() method and it should solve the issue.
I have created a simple Activity. The activity is responsible for downloading data from parse.com database and populating a linear layout. In the process, I am dynamically creating the linear layout with TextViews and ImageViews according according to the content.
The problem is that, whenever I try to download an image, I use as AsyncTask Downloading class, which results in slowing down the UI thread! I am currently trying to return the bitmap file from the AsyncTask Image downloading class using: returnedBitmap = new LoadImage().execute(src).get(); which might be responsible for slowing down the UI thread. I have to do this because the caller method geneterImageView will return an imageview when it receives the bitmap file.
The complete Activity code:
public class MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity {
ArrayList<String> heightList = new ArrayList<String>();
ArrayList<String> reversedList = new ArrayList<String>();
ImageView imageView1;
Bitmap bitmap;
RelativeLayout parent_layout;
ParseObject user;
#Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState){
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
// imageView1 = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.imageView1);
parent_layout = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.parent_layout);
login("xyz#xyz.com", "xyz");
}
private void loopThroughArrayAndAttach(){
LinearLayout llInner = new LinearLayout(this);
llInner.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
LinearLayout.LayoutParams lp = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LinearLayout.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LinearLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT);
parent_layout.addView(llInner);
for (int i = 0; i < heightList.size(); i++) {
if (hasNoImagess(heightList.get(i)) == true) {
// No images.

llInner.addView(myText);
// geneterTextView(heightList.get(i));
} else {

Is there any substitute for getting the bitmap from the AsyncTask and set it in the imageview? Should there be a logical alteration in the approach?
try this :
dont call get() #praveen. instead pass the imageview Reference in the constructor
WorkerThread mWorkerThread = new WorkerThread(mImageView);
mWorkerThread.execute(src);
private class WorkerThread extends AsyncTask<String, String, Bitmap> {
private WeakReference<ImageView> imageViewReference;
public WorkerThread(ImageView imageView) {
super();
imageViewReference = new WeakReference<ImageView>(imageView);
}
#Override
protected Bitmap doInBackground(String... args) {
Bitmap bitmap = null;
try {
bitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeStream((InputStream) new URL(args[0]).getContent());
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
return bitmap;
}
#Override
protected void onPostExecute(Bitmap result) {
super.onPostExecute(result);
if (result != null && imageViewReference.get() != null) {
imageViewReference.get().setImageBitmap(result);
}
}
}
Don't call get() method on AsyncTask it makes main thread to wait for AsyncTask to complete. If you really want to start something only after AsyncTask completes put that into onPostExecute() of your AsynTask
As others have mentioned, your code has several design flaws which makes it difficult to provide you a solution to your problem.
The whole purpose of an AsyncTask is to execute on a background thread. Executing networking and bitmap processing on the main thread will never work. You must refactor your code to accommodate this. Consider the following solution to this particular problem at least:
// to download images
private class LoadImage extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Bitmap> {
protected Bitmap doInBackground(String... args) {
String imgContent = args[0];
Document doc = Jsoup.parse(imgContent);
Elements img = doc.getElementsByTag("img");
for (Element el : img) {
String src = el.absUrl("src");
System.out.println("src attribute is : " + src);
try {
return BitmapFactory.decodeStream((InputStream) new URL(src).getContent());
} catch (Exception e) {
// log
}
}
return null;
}
protected void onPostExecute(Bitmap b) {
ImageView iv = new ImageView(MainActivity.this);
iv.setImageBitmap(b);
llInner.addView(iv);
}
}
You can then do something like:
for (int i = 0; i < heightList.size(); i++) {
new LoadImage(heightList.get(i)).execute();
}
However, this may not be desirable depending on how many AsyncTasks you end up creating. But this is the idea.
