"The selection cannot be run on any server" - java

I've been working on a dynamic web project in Eclipse. I am getting this error.
"The selection cannot be run on any server".
Earlier it was working fine but now I'm getting this error. I removed the server and added it again.
Project->Right Click-> Properties->Server No server is showing here and two options are there Restore Default and Apply. I am not able to add server here.
Please tell me want is the problem with this.

I know that is a bit late, but maybe helps someone in the future.
Go to Project Facets and make sure you have select the properly java version(in my case should be 1.7 for weblogic 12.1.3) and the version for Dynamic Web Module(in my case should be 3.0, not bigger).
To make sure that your app will run, here in project facets, in Runtimes tab, it will be displayed your server.
This will work for sure ;)

Right-click on project (alt + enter) > properties > project facts.
Make sure that you have selected the checkbox of Dynamic web module (3.0) and select the proper java version (1.8).

Sometimes the server might not be selected in project. Go to properties -> Server
Select the server you want to run this project on.

Simple: Right click on your project> build path> configure build path>project facets> change the version of java.(current version, which is installed in your computer)

I got this error when I:
Right click project in Project Explorer
Select Run As -> Run on Server
Click Finish without selecting a server
I was being lazy and thinking that since there is only one server, it would automatically pick that one, but apparently not. It seems odd that the wizard would let me do that and give such a nonsensical error message.

I was getting the same error mentioned in the heading, that the selection could not be run on any server. This was because when we start our JSP application on the server we have to add our resources.
Right click on the project
Run application on the server
Select available server and click Next
Add resources and click Finish

Any help appreciated!
I had this working a day ago, I get the feeling that it's a maven problem but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Running Maven gives a build error :
No compiler is provided in this environment. Perhaps you are running
on a JRE rather than a JDK?
And also this compilation error :

Try to compile it on the shell and check the mentioned paths in Eclipse:
You should have mvn and javac in your %PATH%. Additionally you can set your JAVA_HOME for example to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_144
Good screenshots of the Eclipse and Windows settings are already shown here
If you are building in Eclipse then make sure you are using a JDK to build and not a JRE.
Goto: Window -> Preferences -> Java -> Installed JREs
Then: Verify you are using a JDK and not a JRE.

can nay one tell how to resolve this?
Add this to your pom.xml
<repositories>
<repository>
<id>xuggle repo</id>
<url>http://www.dcm4che.org/maven2/</url>
</repository>
</repositories>
It adds an extra remote repository to be searched for if xuggle:xuggle-xuggler isn't found in maven central (remote repository)
you are very unlikely to find xuggler jar in public repositories. xuggler is dying out, means any active development is stopped. Better chance is to find any one who has build the xuggler matching your architecture x32 or x64 and then manually install to your local maven repository
something like
mvn install:install-file -Dfile=c:\xuggle-xuggler-noarch-{version}.jar -DgroupId=xuggle
-DartifactId=xuggle-xuggler-noarch -Dversion={version} -Dpackaging=jar
here is a one
http://www.java2s.com/Code/Jar/x/Downloadxugglexugglernoarch54jar.htm
First make sure no firewall/antivirus is preventing eclipse from connecting to internet.
Add this node to pom.xml
<repositories>
<repository>
<id>xuggle repo</id>
<url>http://xuggle.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo/share/java/</url>
</repository>
</repositories>
After that right click project -> Run as->Maven clean
it will clean project then
right click project -> Run as->Maven install
This was causing because There is no artifact in central repository of maven named with xuggle.
OR If this fails too.
Download the xuggle-utils.jar and use maven:install command to install it your local .m2 repo.
This will definately solve the issue.

How to update neo4j from 2.1.5 to 2.2.3 in Spring?

I needed to update my neo4j community from version 2.1.5 to version 2.2.3 to use it's new features.
I worked with it and create database in it.
Now, when I'm trying to run my Spring project, I'm getting an errors:
Caused by: org.neo4j.kernel.impl.storemigration.StoreUpgrader$UnexpectedUpgradingStoreVersionException: 'neostore.nodestore.db' has a store version number that we cannot upgrade from. Expected 'v0.A.1' but file is version 'NodeStore v0.A.5'.

In my pom.xml I changed spring-neo4j.version from 3.2.2.RELEASE to 3.3.1.RELEASE
After updating of project in Maven dependencies neo4j-files has version 2.1.7 but I need 2.2.3. How can I update dependencies in right way?

Use SDN 3.3.2 which is to be released today or tomorrow.
Then you can depend on org.neo4j:neo4j:2.2.3 and it should work.

For this error, there can be different solutions. I have noted down the ones that had worked for me.
Solution 1. This is always happened in deployment and debugging environment. In deployment environment, just make sure your server classpath has included the Spring jar library (e.g spring-4.0.4.jar).
In debugging environment, the steps may vary from different IDE, but the solution is same. In Eclipse, developers usually will create a tomcat, jboss…whatever application server for debugging, just make sure the correct Spring jars are included.
Double click on your debugging server Click on the “Open launch
configuration” to access the server environment Click on the classpath tab Include the Spring jar file here , it may also
required common log jar due to Spring dependency.
Done, run your
application again.
.
Solution 2. If you are using Maven as a build tool and downloading dependencies using it, there can be some jar conflict. Because Tomcat servers normally provide some jars such as servlet-api and jpa-api. So if you again included them using maven; there will be problems in identifying them.
Solution 3. If you are using Eclipse as your IDE and using Maven as your build tool and tomcat as your server; remember Tomcat server will not look on the jars which are just inside the folders. For that there's a small trick,
Right click on your project and select properties From the displayed window,
select Deployment Assembly
Select Add
Add Maven dependencies
Click Apply and Click OK
Hope one of these solutions would help you to solve your problem. Happy Coding and make sure that is using Java.
In eclipse -> Your Project -> Properties -> Java Build Path -> Order and Export -> check Maven Dependencies.
Or in WebProject -> Your Project -> Properties -> Deployment assambly -> check Maven Dependencies.
This work in my case.
I had the same issue, but I fixed by adding Maven Dependencies. It was missing for some reason, and I have no clue
I have faced a similar issue with the same exception "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.web.context.request.RequestContextListener".
It fixed after adding one dummy class in the src/main/java folder, and I really didn't know how this did the trick, it works for me.

Why can't Maven build resolve Spring #Bean #Configuration etc annotations?

I'm trying to move my Spring MVC project to 3.2.4.
When I attempt to run up the application in IntelliJ, using Maven as I had done previously, I am getting errors about not being able to find a series of annotation classes from Spring...
#Bean
#Configuration
#ComponentScan
#PropertySource
are all failing with unable to resolve class error messages.
Other annotations are ok, which makes me think it is a dependency issue, as the Spring version is the main change in my project codebase.
Has Spring 3.2.4 changed where those annotations live in the packaging?
My current pom (some bits removed for brevity):

There is a duplicate dependency of org.springframework:spring-context in your POM that is probably causing classpath conflicts. The first one is a compile dependency using version 3.2.4.RELEASE, and the second one is a runtime dependency using version 3.0.0.RELEASE.
I suggest you remove the second since it's unnecessary and should be superseded by the first.
Spring is not verbose about what is going wrong. To debug this, copy annotated class into the .war project and make it work there. A lot of thing may be wired wrong but spring will only say unsatisfied auto-wiring.
It should work out-of-the-box, so something is not done properly. A property not set, a dependency not met etc.
When you copy it in your project you simplify the problem, once it work there, move back the class and it should work fine!
