I try to apply eclipse google style formatter to existing codes, but failed. I am using eclipse luna, Java 8 and windows 8.
I import eclipse Google Java style templates. I enabled the project specific settings. However when i try to follow /0/ using command window and invoke command /1/. I got error /3/. I try to add /2/ into my copied file: com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.prefs. It show same error.
Any hints? Or shall I use other tool, such as Jalopy or JIndent?

Updated
#Sean Patrick Floyd, #Michael: You two are awesome.
Your suggestion is correct. And I notice there is no org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs in Eclipse Luna version, instead there is: com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.prefs.
Inside of file com.google.gdt.eclipse.suite.prefs, there is two lines /5/.
Right now, in each file, when I try ctr+shift+f, I got existing file formatted.
When I try /4/, the code style sounds like Eclipse default code style. Why could not I apply google style to existing java files?

I have some problems getting JUnit plug-in tests to work using Eclipse Neon M7 and I'd really like input from anybody out there who uses tests (there has to be somebody, right?).
Whenever I start a test that works in Eclipse Luna (but didn't in Mars, which I assumed was a bug) and continues to work using Tycho I get the following exception:

Clearly it's not a Eclipse bug at this point, but I'm doing something wrong. There is no indication what kind of plug-ins are started in the test, but judging from the version ranges I assume it's the wrong ones again - the plug-ins of the running Eclipse instance instead of the plug-ins defined in the workspace's target platform.
Still the launch configuration claims the later target platform is used.
How do I configure a plug-in unit test so that it will take the currently active target platform?
The problem here is that Eclipse 4.4 (Luna, 2014) and below had a version of org.eclipse.core.runtime that was compatible with the host Eclipse version of org.eclipse.pde.junit.runtime. That changed with 4.5 when the dependency increased.
As you have correctly concluded that the configuration is pointing at the wrong org.eclipse.pde.junit.runtime. This is probably due to uncleared configuration state. Ensure that the configuration is being cleared, so you don't run with a stale version. That is ensure that Clear the configuration area before launching is checked in the Configuration tab of launch configuration.
You can see exactly what PDE has resolved as the configured bundles by looking at ${workspace_loc}/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.pde.core/pde-junit/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info (location specified in Configuration tab of launch configuration)
I have a Dropbox workspace, and recently(this has never happened before), I came home(I edited some code at school also in the Dropbox workspace), and now Eclipse crashes everytime I use that workspace, but not any of my other workspaces. I have reinstalled Eclipse and tried to allocate from 512mb to 2gigs of RAM but nothing has happened. I've trimmed down the error code b/c it's over 52,000 characters long.

!MESSAGE Warning: EGit couldn't detect the installation path "gitPrefix" of native Git. Hence EGit can't respect system level
Git settings which might be configured in ${gitPrefix}/etc/gitconfig under the native Git installation directory.
The most important of these settings is core.autocrlf. Git for Windows by default sets this parameter to true in
this system level configuration. The Git installation location can be configured on the
Team > Git > Configuration preference page's 'System Settings' tab.
This warning can be switched off on the Team > Git > Confirmations and Warnings preference page.

!MESSAGE Warning: The environment variable HOME is not set. The following directory will be used to store the Git
user global configuration and to define the default location to store repositories: 'C:\Users\p0403472'. If this is
not correct please set the HOME environment variable and restart Eclipse. Otherwise Git for Windows and
EGit might behave differently since they see different configuration options.
This warning can be switched off on the Team > Git > Confirmations and Warnings preference page.

Please try the following:
Try deleting the file .metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.snap or any .snap file under .metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resource.
You can do that using:
$ cd eclipse-workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources
$ find . -type f -name "*.snap" | xargs rm
Delete the .metadata directory from your workspace and restart
Ensure that your workspace and projects have all the necessary permissions, try 777 for now.
Ive just installed eclipse and when i try to open it it fails.
Would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with whats gone wrong/ how to fix it.
this is the log:

Try these steps.
If you are using debian based os, use
sudo apt-get install eclipse-platform
It's maintained. Else download the IDE for linux from here.
Install OpenJDK not oracle java 7.
sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk
If you need to use oracle jdk, see this article. It's working for me in Ubuntu 12.10
Try this:
ln -s /usr/lib/jni/libswt-* ~/.swt/lib/linux/x86_64/
