Replace a variable in a String - java

I am looking for a String Utils so that I can do something like this.
String input = "this is the $var on $date"
someUtil.evaluate(input, [var: "end", date: "11/11/11"])
output : this is the end on 11/11/11.
someUtil.evaluate(input, [var: "start", date: "10/10/10"])
output : this is the start on 10/10/10.

Use standard java MessageFormat, it is quite powerfull (read its class level JavaDoc)
Date endDate = new GregorialCalendar(2011, Calendar.NOVEMBER, 11).getTime();

Do you really need as incoming parameter that "array" ? If not, that you can implement as easy as it is ..

On Android, there is a Uri class in package android.net . Note that Uri is part of android.net, whereas URI is part of java.net .
Uri class has many functions to extract key-value pairs from a query.
Following function returns key-value pairs in the form of HashMap.

Netty also provides a nice query string parser called QueryStringDecoder.
In one line of code, it can parse the URL in the question.
I like because it doesn't require catching or throwing java.net.MalformedURLException.

I wasn't happy with the code provided by #Pr0gr4mm3r in https://stackoverflow.com/a/13592567/1211082 . The Stream-based solution does not do URLDecoding, the mutable version clumpsy.

There are plenty of answers which work for your query as you've indicated when it has single parameter definitions. In some applications it may be useful to handle a few extra query parameter edge cases such as:
list of parameter values such as param1&param1=value&param1= meaning param1 is set to List.of("", "value", "")
invalid permutations such as querypath?&=&&=noparamname&.
use empty string not null in maps a= means "a" is List.of("") to match web servlet handling

In case you ask, reduce requires this weird combiner in the last parameter, which is only used in parallel streams. Its goal is to merge two intermediate results (here HashMap).

There are plenty of answers which work for your query as you've indicated when it has single parameter definitions. In some applications it may be useful to handle a few extra query parameter edge cases such as:
list of parameter values such as param1&param1=value&param1= meaning param1 is set to List.of("", "value", "")

Answering here because this is a popular thread. This is a clean solution in Kotlin that uses the recommended UrlQuerySanitizer api. See the official documentation. I have added a string builder to concatenate and display the params.

I ignore duplicate parameters (I take the last one).
I use Optional<SimpleImmutableEntry<String, String>> to ignore garbage later
The reduction start with an empty map, then populate it on each SimpleImmutableEntry
In case you ask, reduce requires this weird combiner in the last parameter, which is only used in parallel streams. Its goal is to merge two intermediate results (here HashMap).
If you happen to have cxf-core on the classpath and you know you have no repeated query params, you may want to use UrlUtils.parseQueryString.
The Eclipse Jersey REST framework supports this through UriComponent. Example:

If just want the parameters after the URL from a String. Then the following code will work. I am just assuming the simple Url. I mean no hard and fast checking and decoding. Like in one of my test case I got the Url and I know I just need the value of the paramaters. The url was simple. No encoding decoding needed.

The prerequisite is that your query syntax does not allow repeated parameters.
The Hutool framework supports this through HttpUtil. Example:

Java Convert List<String> to List<Object>

I've two classess CsvRead and MyOwnClass.
In CsvRead I've a method public static List getDataFromCsv(); It returns list of all data. And this data I want to take in another method in class MyOwnClass and return there as list of objects of My OwnClass
It looks like this:
List<String> dataFromCsv = new ArrayList<String>();
And in another class, I want to convert it to List<Object> of my class.

You can create a method to convert a String to MyOwnClass and use stream to map the elements, e.g.:

However, this may not work if let's say name or surname contains comma. In which case, I would recommend having a look at OpenCSV library and this example of how to read csv into objects.

GreenDao whereOr and conditions adding in a loop

I need to add some or clauses to query. I need to do it in a loop.

How I can add those or conditions properly, because this above is not working as expected. I want to add or for every symptom.
If you look at the documentation, you'll see that whereOr() takes an unbounded number of conditions. What you want to do is add them all at once in an array:

It looks like the method call in the documentation takes two non-array WhereConditions and then an ellipsized argument, which accepts an array or an additional comma-separated list of objects. So you might have to do something like this to get it to work properly:

ADDENDUM: It looks like you're using APIs that don't match the documentation, possibly an older version of greenDAO. I wrote this solution based off the current documentation. I can't guarantee that it will work for you. I recommend updating if possible.

I had the same problem so I added my own method in an Util class to perform the same behavior when I have one or several WhereCondition in an array.

With this class, you can perform a whereOr with the same property on multiples "values string" in one line. It was necessary to clean my code :). However you can only do simple operations like variables declared in the class.

Make a HashSet of your strings, and do a O(1) check to see if the current class location exists in your set of strings.

Use a config file so that the list of invalid sequences becomes configurable. For this is the smelliest bit, the series of magic letter combinations. Moving it to a set does not help with that.
