How to update separate counters dynamically - java

I have an application which currently has 2 people ("Mom" and "Dad"). Each person should have their own counter which increments independently.

How would I edit my code such that when a button is pressed for either mom or dad and the display() method is called that it increments/decreases the corresponding textView (Either #+id/total_text_view or #+id/total_text_view2).
Currently both sets of buttons effect only the first textView (#+id/total_text_view) under mom

Make a few functions;
incrementMom(), decrementMom(), incrementDad() and decrementDad()
then just instead of using android:onClick="decrement" use either android:onClick="decrementMom" or android:onClick="decrementDad"

Showing null pointer exception even though no error is showing up [duplicate]

This is the code MainActivity.java file. I think there should be no mistake in this code. But it shows the message

All these findViewById must be included in your onCreate() method. You can keep the declarations out of onCreate(). Your views do not exist before setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
I mean before onCreate() you can have Button b1;
and after setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); in onCreate() you must have b1=(Button)findViewById(R.id.b_i1);
for every view.

So my problem is when I touch/click textview first time "toast" fired up datepicker is not showing up, but after that every time when I touch/click I can see datepicker? Why datepicker is not showing up when I press textview first time? How to make it to works?

The reason is for the first time when you click it sets up click listener as you have set in setDate(View view); after that, it listens for subsequent calls. so you need to change the method a bit.

Android: How to find which tab is active in a tablayout?

I am currently working on a simple android application.
There is a login page, and as it is possible to login as a Driver or as a Passenger, there are different tabs in that page.
I have to use the same "email" and "password fields a, and the same login button. basically the only thing that change is the subtitle
I need to figure out which tab is active when the login button is pressed, in order to use the right login options and send the user to the right place.

getSelectedTabPosition() does exactly what you need: returning the current index of the selected tab.

switch to another activity with swipe is not working

My requirement :-
I have two activities..When I swipe it will go to another activity..

But I can not swipe the page. It is not going to the another page. Why it is happening?

Agree with #k3v1n4ud3. Let me just expand a bit since I can't really comment due to lack of karma.
With ViewPager (inside MainActivity.java) + MainFragment (Fragment)+ JoinForm (Fragment), you would be able to get away without having a listener for fling. It would just handle the swiping part automatically for you.
Just think about it like this: You have a brain (MainActivity w/ViewPager) and two arms (the first and second fragment you're implementing).
Create a MainActivity that would contain your ViewPager.

Create an Adapter that extends FragmentPagerAdapter (or FragmentStatePagerAdapter). It looks like this:

(Optional) See those title thingys on top of each page, the ones you could click so you could fast forward to the other page? They're called tabhosts.
To use them, simply add a tabhost to your MainActivity layout and add this logic in MainActivity.java:

So to animate when you switch fragments, you simple have to call this:
myViewPager.setPageTransformer(true, new DefaultTransformer());
And you can also customize it to your will.
I apologize if there are typos and other stuff. But this should cover majority of what you need.

You probably should change the architecture, transform your 2 activities into fragment and place them inside a viewPager. The viewPager will handle the sliding part for you.
