How to run Spring 3.2 project in Tomcat V6.0.45 - java

I need to develop a spring project. Requirements are as follows:
Spring - 3.0
Hibernate - 3.0
MySql 5.5
Tomcat 6.0
JDK 1.7
I am not using web.xml instead I am using java configuration.When I am trying to run my project on Tomcat v6.0 (by right click in eclipse on project -> Run at Server) it is saying that this project can not be run on any server. I have no idea how to run this project.
My pom.xml is as follows :
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">

I searched some articles and tried to change jst.web to 2.4 instead of 3.1 but it is not working. If I am trying to edit Project Facets through eclipse it is giving me error as Can not change version of project facet dynamic web module to 2.5. Kindly suggest me how to run this project?

Java based configuration for the web (using a ServletContainerInitializer which in turn for Spring will use a WebApplicationInitializer) is a Servlet 3.0 feature. Tomcat 6 supports the Servlet 2.5 specification and as such will not support java based configuration. In short when using Tomcat 6 you MUST use a web.xml. See this for information on which servlet specification is supported by which Tomcat version.
To fix either upgrade to Tomcat 7 or use a web.xml.

Any help appreciated!
I had this working a day ago, I get the feeling that it's a maven problem but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Running Maven gives a build error :
No compiler is provided in this environment. Perhaps you are running
on a JRE rather than a JDK?
And also this compilation error :

Try to compile it on the shell and check the mentioned paths in Eclipse:
You should have mvn and javac in your %PATH%. Additionally you can set your JAVA_HOME for example to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_144
Good screenshots of the Eclipse and Windows settings are already shown here
If you are building in Eclipse then make sure you are using a JDK to build and not a JRE.
Goto: Window -> Preferences -> Java -> Installed JREs
Then: Verify you are using a JDK and not a JRE.

In the project explorer it is shown that project is running on java 1.5
So i changed it to java 1.8 from java build path of project
i removed the java 1.5 and pointed it to java 1.8
then the changes were visible.
but when i update the pom.xml it again show java 1.5.
Also in the project facets it is java 1.8
Please help me in making it java 1.8
Sparsh , In the plugins options of maven you should add the compiler level
org.apache.maven.plugins
maven-compiler-plugin
2.3.2
<configuration>
<source>${jdk.version}</source>
<target>${jdk.version}</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
<plugins>
And in your properties stanza , you should have
<properties>
<jdk.version>1.8</jdk.version>
</properties>

How to update neo4j from 2.1.5 to 2.2.3 in Spring?

I needed to update my neo4j community from version 2.1.5 to version 2.2.3 to use it's new features.
I worked with it and create database in it.
Now, when I'm trying to run my Spring project, I'm getting an errors:
Caused by: org.neo4j.kernel.impl.storemigration.StoreUpgrader$UnexpectedUpgradingStoreVersionException: 'neostore.nodestore.db' has a store version number that we cannot upgrade from. Expected 'v0.A.1' but file is version 'NodeStore v0.A.5'.

In my pom.xml I changed spring-neo4j.version from 3.2.2.RELEASE to 3.3.1.RELEASE
After updating of project in Maven dependencies neo4j-files has version 2.1.7 but I need 2.2.3. How can I update dependencies in right way?

Use SDN 3.3.2 which is to be released today or tomorrow.
Then you can depend on org.neo4j:neo4j:2.2.3 and it should work.

Migration from Tomcat 7 to Tomcat 8

Hi I was having a maven ee project with eclipse Juno and Tomcat 7. Everything was working fine and then I moved towards up-gradation of tomcat server to tomcat 8.
Now I had to download eclipse luna so i did that and configured tomcat 8 with my project in eclipse luna. But I am getting four messages in marker.

Plus:
I searched a lot and messed up my web.xml and pom.xml and ./settings files as well and now I dont even remember which changes I have made but one thing i remember is that I was using servlet 2.5 in juno.
Any help in right direction would be very appreciative.
UPDATE 1:
Changed servlet to 3.0.1. But still getting same error
This facet.core.xml file of ./settings folder.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<faceted-project>
<fixed facet="wst.jsdt.web"/>
<installed facet="java" version="1.5"/>
<installed facet="jst.web" version="2.3"/>
<installed facet="wst.jsdt.web" version="1.0"/>
<installed facet="jst.jaxrs" version="1.1"/>
<installed facet="jboss.m2" version="1.0"/>
</faceted-project>
When i change jst.web to 3.0 then i get error again cannot change project facet web dynamic version to 3.0
Here:
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.servlet</groupId>
<artifactId>servlet-api</artifactId>
<version>2.5</version>
</dependency>
It should be 3.0 at least since your web.xml specifies version="3.0". But maintaining this dependency may give you conflicts with Java EE 7.0 dependency here:
<dependency>
<groupId>javax</groupId>
<artifactId>javaee-api</artifactId>
<version>7.0</version>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
Looks like you're just copying/pasting/crossing your fingers and hoping that everything works. This is not how you're supposed to do it. Just import the relevant dependencies you will use.
Just Solved the errors by adding this to pom.xml
<build>
<plugins>
<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.0.2</version>
<configuration>
<source>1.7</source>
<target>1.7</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</build>

The answer is in this line:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet
Basically your web app is missing JAR files for Spring Core and/or Spring MVC. They should be in the webapp's /WEB-INF/lib directory, along with other JAR files that your webapp depends on. Take a look at what is there, and try to figure out why DispatcherServlet is missing.
If you are using IDE and trying to run it from within the ide, you will need to explicilitly tell ide to export maven dependencies into web-inf/lib
if you are using eclipse;
Project Properties
Deployment Assembly
Add -> Maven dependencies and tell eclipse to export those into web-inf/lib
I'm not familiar with using Maven for a spring app, but just at a glance it looks like you're pulling down the testing architecture rather than the actual spring binaries. This is also consistent with the error you're getting: it can't find the DispatcherServlet class. I'd double check to make sure you have the correct spring dependency listed in your POM.xml
