SpringMVC + Spring Security Hibernate + Thymeleaf - is my pom.xml too much? - java

My application was first built using JSPs, and at a later stage I switched to Thymeleaf + HTML5. But I have never taken the time to clean up my pom.xml.
So, are the bellow declared dependencies too much? Are they likely to cause overhead and performance issues?

together. As you written, your project is "Spring MVC", so you can use Spring API to write REST-services (using #Controller and #RequestMapping) - as result you can delete javax.ws library, because this is JavaEE (#Path, #GET, #Consumes, etc) and it is better to use with Jersey or another implementations. But not necessary

Any help is appreciated.
Mixing up different versions of spring-core, spring-web, spring-security and spring-jpa usually invites some really ugly errors at runtime. So, it is better to narrow down to a single version(managed version) using:
<properties>
<spring-version>5.3.1.RELEASE</spring-version>
</properties>
Declare this at the start of the pom.xml file and then use it along with the spring dependency declarations like this:
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework/spring-core -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-core</artifactId>
<version>${spring-version}</version>
</dependency>
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework.security/spring-security-web -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.security</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-security-web</artifactId>
<version>${spring-version}</version>
</dependency>
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework.data/spring-data-jpa -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-data-jpa</artifactId>
<version>${spring-version}</version>
</dependency>
Use mvn -U clean install to update the maven jars used in your project. Most probably these issues should go away.
There was an answer posted here but somewhy it got removed. The answer was: put spring and spring-security core dependencies on top of the pom, so that all other dependencies (including jwt ones) come after them.

Spring Hibernate Maven Jar Version

When creating web application, we use maven to get all jars. Here when i'm tried to create a maven web application with spring version 4.3.7 and spring security 4.2.2. I need to use couple of other jars like hibernate, log4j, apache tiles, itext, java mail, apache poi, json-simple and some common jars used in web application like common fileupload etc.
I need to use this web application in JBoss 7.1.1 with datasource support and java version 1.7. I need to use the correct version of jar.
Please find the below pom

(Expecting answers from experienced professional in production environments.)
if you want to use JBoss 7.1.1 you need to run this project on jdk1.7 and Spring 3.1.2 if you are use above version of jdk and spring, it will occur errors. so. if you want to run latest version of spring and jdk you need to use latest version of Jboss.

Is that a JPA Project?
If you are using Spring Data JPA you should add the dependency:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-data-jpa</artifactId>
<version>1.11.3.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
If the project is only a JDBC project you should add:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-jdbc</artifactId>
<version>4.1.2.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
The annotation #Repository (org.springframework.stereotype.Repository) is in the jar:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
</dependency>
so you don't need to add any other dependency.
Try to update the Maven project Project -> right click -> Maven -> Update project
If it doesn't work try to disable Maven Nature:
Project -> right click -> Maven -> Disable Maven Nature
And add Maven Nature again.
You can try with newer Spring versions, like 4.3.8.RELEASE, too.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : net/sf/json/JSONArray

I'm trying to use json-lib (net.sj.json) on my project.
I looked through some dependencies that are required for that library and I literally added all of them, but still get the NoClassDefFoundError.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/sf/json/JSONArray
Here are my dependencies,

Can anyone help me out with this problem?
try to change :
<dependency>
<groupId>net.sf.json-lib</groupId>
<artifactId>json-lib</artifactId>
<version>2.2.3</version>
<classifier>jdk15</classifier>
</dependency>
to :
<dependency>
<groupId>net.sf.json-lib</groupId>
<artifactId>json-lib-ext-spring</artifactId>
<version>1.0.2</version>
</dependency>
NoClassDefFoundError found for that referenced class irrespective of whether it is available at compile time or not.
To resolve this error add this latest json dependancy.
<dependency>
<groupId>net.sf.json-lib</groupId>
<artifactId>json-lib</artifactId>
<version>2.4</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>net.sf.ezmorph</groupId>

</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>net.sf.json-lib</groupId>
<artifactId>json-lib</artifactId>
<version>2.4</version>
</dependency>
