I am getting this error.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/drools/core/command/runtime/rule/FireAllRulesCommand
Even though the same code along with same jars works fine in my teammate's system. This class is present in drools-core.jar I am not sure why for me class is not found during run time. I have no additional logs. It just shows the mentioned error during debug.
Could you please guide me here.

My project is using Jetty(org.eclipse.jetty) jars and I have upgraded it from 9.4.33 to latest 9.4.43
Post upgrade when I tried to start the services it is throwing the exception of
Failed startup of context o.e.j.w.WebAppContext#1e461e41{/,file:///opt/company/Myserver/src/main/webapp/,UNAVAILABLE}{src/main/webapp}
java.lang.noclassdeffounderror org/apache/jasper/servlet/jasperinitializer
Can anybody help me what exactly I am missing here. I double checked to ensure concern jars are available.
What I could figure out so far its reading the class at compile time but not able to find it at run time thus seeing this exception.
I tried replacing the 9.4.43 jars again with 9.4.33 and it worked fine without any other config/code change.
Any leads would be appreciated on how to trace and fix this issue.
I just imported a Java EE project that I made about a year ago. But after I imported it, i get this error in the first line of one of the files:
Internal compiler error: java.lang.NullPointerException at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.compiler.problem.ProblemHandler.handle(ProblemHandler.java:148)
I am able to run the project on the server but it doesn't work, the website won't show up.
I tried removing the first line but I still get the same error.
I also get the same error during building.
There is no other error in the code, I can't post the entire code because it's around 3000 lines long.
Here is the project hierarchy:
I had the same problem and it turns out I was using lombok 1.18.18 and this version has a known issue:
https://github.com/projectlombok/lombok/issues/2752
This is an Eclipse Bug.
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/#4.8_Integration_Builds (Use newer than 2018-06-16).
Check your eclipse version in the above comment link and the NPE Should be gone.
We are seeing the following error when trying to complete a single-sign-on using OpenSAML. This was working, then seemed to stop when we upgraded to Java 7 (though that could very well be a red herring). We did install the JCE, so don't think it's related to that. Has anyone encountered this before?

Ensure not-yet-commons-ssl-0.3.9.jar is on the classpath of the JVM. That is the jar that contains the TrustMaterial class.
I have done more than an hour of searching while trying to run JUnit on my project. I can see that there is a class missing - LogEntryFormatter. But no matter how hard I tried, I am not able to find the jar file which contains this one. Eclipse shows the below stack trace after running the Test case file.

Any sort of help will be useful. I am using WebLogic server, and all weblogic related jars are available on the classpath.
Ok, so after a lot of effort I am able to run JUnit Tests, although not in the exact way I want. I am also at a loss to explain why this is happening or where weblogic.logging is configured. This could be a possible problem with my project setup. After adding the following jar files to the classpath (after removing everything except jdk), it seems to be working for me.
wlclient
com.bea.core.utils.classloaders
com.bea.core.descriptor
com.bea.core.utils
com.bea.core.management.core

Thanks to all those who helped by providing valuable comments. The stack traces encountered at each step helped me point in the right direction.
I am trying to be able to step through the code of a Hudson plugin called SVNPublisher. I checked out the code for SVNPublisher, used Netbeans to open the project, and clicked "Debug Main project". This results in a Firefox window opening address http://localhost:8080 which shows the Hudson main page. Clicking the "New Job" link results in an error page:

I am very new to Hudson and not very experienced with Java so I'm pretty much clueless on the meaning of this error.
Can anyone help?
I know this thread is v. old but I have just had this issues and wanted to help anyone else who has is.
I found I got this issue when I had a DescriptorImpl in a class (this is a sub-class of the main class). In my case this is ResourceAxis contains DescriptorImpl.
I started getting this issue when I renamed DescriptorImpl to ResourceDescriptorImpl. Then I started getting the following error message:
Error injecting constructor, java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: org.jenkinsci.plugins.matrix_resource_manager.ResourceAxis and org.jenkinsci.plugins.matrix_resource_manager.ResourceAxis$DescriptorImpl disagree on InnerClasses attribute
at org.jenkinsci.plugins.matrix_resource_manager.ResourceAxis$DescriptorImpl.<init>(ResourceAxis.java:94)
This propted me to change ResourceDescriptorImpl back to DescriptorImpl - as it was complaining about DiscriptorImpl. At that point I got this error message:
Error injecting constructor, java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: org.jenkinsci.plugins.matrix_resource_manager.ResourceAxis and org.jenkinsci.plugins.matrix_resource_manager.ResourceAxis$ResourceDescriptorImpl disagree on InnerClasses attribute
at org.jenkinsci.plugins.matrix_resource_manager.ResourceAxis$ResourceDescriptorImpl.<init>(ResourceAxis.java:94)
This one is complaining about ResourceDescriptorImpl. I realised I was not doing a Clean build each time and that the old compiled code might be causing issues (as I only change one class, so the other may not be re-compiled). If you see this issue try doing a clean build and see if that solves your issue.
Hope this helps.
I'm running into the same issue and unfortunately I haven't been able to resolve it yet either. As VonC mentioned it may have to do with a change in how generics are used between 1.5 and 1.6, this is problemaitc since even if you install a 1.5 version hudson requires 1.6 to build and run via hpi:run.
What I have noticed is that if you install hudson locally (http://wiki.hudson-ci.org/display/HUDSON/Meet+Hudson#MeetHudson-TestDrive) you can use a maven install command to generate an .hpi file of the plugin and install that. I don't get the same error when I do that which makes me think it could be an issue with the hpi:run goal. That should at least let you test any changes you need to make.
Coincidentally I'm the author of that SVN Publish plugin if there are any questions you have. I haven't made any changes recently, but I found this thread because I have some in the works and ran into this issue ;)
Thanks,
Brent
