Resolving failing Maven dependencies? - java

I am having trouble with a Maven dependency in a project exported by Eclipse to Tomcat 8...
I am using javax.mail 1.5 which is provided by the Tomcat installation but another package is including javax.mail 1.4 in the Eclipse export. With both versions on the server, it fails to function correctly.
Any idea how I can get Maven or Eclipse to not export the older javax.mail?
Thanks

When I run my test suite from testng.xml, I see Steps in the Allure report. But when using "mvn clean test" I don't see any steps

I have a Rest Assured framework. Which runs fine. Recently I incorporated Allure-reports to the project. When I run the project by right clicking testng.xml and run, I get a nice report with each #Step shown properly. But when I run the project from the command line using command mvn clean test I can't see the #Step. This is what I see.
I tried by creating a dummy project and only used the dependencies necessary to generate Allure reports. It worked fine then, but I'm unable to find the root cause.
What am I doing wrong?

NoClassDefFoundError for org/apache/poi/xssf/usermodel/XSSFWorkbook

I've searched along foruns and even though there's a lot of issues regarding this same error, none of them actually helped me with solving this error.
I'm getting this error:
org.apache.cxf.interceptor.Fault: org/apache/poi/xssf/usermodel/XSSFWorkbook
at org.apache.cxf.service.invoker.AbstractInvoker.createFault(AbstractInvoker.java:162)
at [internal classes]
Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/poi/xssf/usermodel/XSSFWorkbook

[ERROR ] SRVE0315E: Ocorreu uma exceção: java.lang.Throwable: org.apache.cxf.interceptor.Fault: org/apache/poi/xssf/usermodel/XSSFWorkbook
at com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp.handleRequest(WebApp.java:4998)
I've tried removing .m2 folder and downloading dependencies again, still not a successfull atempt.
I've added the .jar files, as you can see in the image.
And I can see that same class the error is complaining about listed right where the path indicates in org/apache/poi/xssf/usermodel/XSSFWorkbook .
Not clear to me why the error is frequent if I can see the class in my project.
Project's pom.xml as requested.
Thing is I have 2 other projects where I use this library and they both never gave me any headache like this to make POI library works. I used the same configuration I used previously in those projects.

In my case I had to add the following dependencies in my pom.xml
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.poi</groupId>
<artifactId>poi</artifactId>
<version>5.2.0</version>
<scope>compile</scope>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.poi</groupId>

<dependency>

<version>1.0-2</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>commons-io</groupId>
<artifactId>commons-io</artifactId>
<version>2.11.0</version>
</dependency>
All those 4 libs with exact versions, including stax-api. It should be noted that I use Maven.
Hope it'll help someone (I literally spent hours to fix this problem).

Jenkins installed version of Sonar
I have resolved this issue, using given below steps.
1. Shutdown Jenkins and Sonar
2. .m2/repository directory removed under users/buildadmin (as libraries are corrupted)
3. Start Jenkins and Sonar
4. Libraries are loaded successfully upon running pipelines and builds were successful from respective stream.

mvn install generate jar file with only META-INF in the output jar

How to configure "tomcat7-maven-plugin" in pom.xml?

I am trying to add a tomcat7-maven-plugin dependency to pom.xml file and getting an error.
I am following the instructions on tomcat.apache.org.
cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'configuration'. One of '{"http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0":type, "http://

maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0":exclusions, "http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0":optional}' is expected.

The Tomcat7-maven-plugin should be declared as a plugin, it is not a dependency.
You can't add a configuration tag to a dependency as indicated by the error.
Thus something like the following should work :
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">

<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.1</version>
<configuration>
<source>1.7</source>
<target>1.7</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.tomcat.maven</groupId>
<artifactId>tomcat7-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.2</version>
<configuration>
<url>http://localhost:8080/manager</url>
<server>localhost</server>
<path>/${project.build.finalName}</path>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</build>
<...>
</project>
i also face the issue, when i deploy the spring web mvc application run as server
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.apache.tomcat.maven/tomcat8-maven-plugin -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.tomcat.maven</groupId>
<artifactId>tomcat8-maven-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.0-r1756463</version>
</dependency>
this works for me
