Maven Spring Boot trying to connect to MySQL

I am trying to connect my web application to MySQL. Spring Boot is not detecting the database but can connect to the server. Can someone lead me in the right direction so it can detect the schema. With the #Entity annotation, it should auto create a table in the database as "User". It should also say in the console "Database available" I have tried looking online but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated!

I have figured out the answer:
I must declare spring.jpa.generate-ddl=true in the application properties as well. This then created the specified table correctly with correct columns

Try this spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=update

you please append some property in URL ( if you want to generate database automatically)

SpringBoot RequestMapping method not called

I am learning SpringBoot. using Spring JavaPersistenceAPI(JPA) and apache derby as the database. I am having trouble mapping a URL to a method.
I have Topics:

I expect a list of courses corresponding to the topic id fetched from the URL. The failure confuses me because the topic controller works fine and it is almost the same.

I have same problem .It is because your Properties default is set to:
"spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=create-drop"
change it
in application.properties file.if this not over there add this
"spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=update"
line in your application.properties file.It work fine.

Even I have encountered the same error while using Apache Derby. This is because of the default properties of spring which is -spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=create-drop.
Solution: Create an application.properties file in src/main/resources folder and change the property to spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto=update and run the app again, it should work.

The reason being the second controller in package "ProjectNameWithJPA.course" is giving 404 error because spring is not able to scan controller in "ProjectNameWithJPA.course".
By default, Spring-Boot scans the controller under the same package hierarchy like it can be "PackageNameWithJPA.course"

You can always define a custom component scan in a spring boot project. By default #SpringBootApplication annotation handles the component scanning for the application. However, let’s say one of the components is defined in another package then you can define in your configuration class like :

Spring Boot RequestMapping not working on Linux Fedora 26

I recently started using Linux Fedora 26 and wanted to start a Spring Boot Application but it won't recognize #Controller and #RestController annotations with Thymeleaf. My HomeController class's mapping doesn't see my Templates folder and I get a Whiteable Error page / 404.
I have started to build a similar project (https://github.com/alexanderphoen1x/trainingdiary) in my old Windows machine and it seemed to work fine, but when I tried running my old project, I cloned it from github and it gives me an Exception:

The Maven dependency could be corrupted during the download. Comment out the Thymeleaf in the POM and save the project. Delete manually the Thymeleaf files on your drive. Put back the Thymeleaf dependency in the POM and save the Project.

My spring-app doesn't receive my GET

So I've been trying to do the example from spring's official guide on connecting Spring with MySQL (https://spring.io/guides/gs/accessing-data-mysql/)
I didn't follow it 100% since I'm using STS for my overall project. The thing is when I use POSTMAN or just my browser to send data
such as :
localhost:8000/demo/add?name=First&email=someemail#someemailprovider.com
I get the error not found.
The java code is the same as in the guide . My application.properties is this:

Your #SpringBootApplication class is in the package com.example.demo (according to the startup log), but your #Controller is in package hello. By default, Spring Boot won't auto-discover Spring classes that are outside the package the #SpringBootApplication class is in. Either move the UserController somewhere under the com.example.demo, or add #ComponentScan annotation targeting your hello package to the main Spring Boot app class.

sorry for bad English. I get my project started with spring-boot 1.1.8, Encountered Exception No CurrentSessionContext configured, then I did some search， add property <property name="hibernate.current_session_context_class">org.hibernate.context.ThreadLocalSessionContext</property> could solve this problem, but
how to config this property using java class?
update: I changed to the Hibernate4.x Way to define SessionFactory but still got the same error, please help!

Your configuration and usage of hibernate is wrong. You are using Spring and even better Spring Boot, however what you posted tries very hard not to use those frameworks and tries to work around them. I strongly suggest using Spring Boot and let that configure the things for you.
First delete your HibernateUtils, burry it deep and never look at it again. You can also delete your AppConfig as Spring Boot can and will take care of the DataSource.
Next create a file called application.properties in your src/main/resources directory and put the following content in there.

spring.datasource.username=root
spring.datasource.password=
This will automatically configure a DataSource for you. You don't need the driver as that is deduced from the url you provide. Next add the following properties to configure JPA.

spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.current_session_context_class=org.springframework.orm.hibernate4.SpringSessionContext

Next in your WebApplicationStarter add the HibernateJpaSessionFactoryBean to expose the created JPA EntityManagerFactory as a SessionFactory.

I got this error because I had
sessionFactory.getCurrentSession();
when I changed it to
sessionFactory.openSession();
it worked fine.
