I'm working through online examples to learn SpringMVC with FreeMarker. I came accross with this error, but I can't figure out what's wrong with my getFreemarkerConfig() method and all day I've been trying to fix it, bu unsuccessfully nothing done.

The root error is this: "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: freemarker.template.Configuration.(Lfreemarker/template/Version;)V". This means that you have an old FreeMarker dependency, where there was no Configuration(Version) constructor yet. So ensure that you are using the latest FreeMarker version (2.3.26-incubating is the latest stable release as of this writing). (If the old version is a transitive dependency, you need to exclude it, so that it won't win again later as the dependency graph changes.)

I guess this issue with version compatibility between FF4J and Springfox. The springfox version i am using is 2.4.0. I tried with multiple combinations, however, left with no clue.

I can confirm that current version of ff4j is using the Swagger 3.0.0 which seems not backward compatible with 2.4.0.
Multiple options:
The spring-boot-starter should be used when you exposing the REST-API and webconsole. This component should be in standalone component without your code. Then in microservices you import ff4j library only with the store you need sample code and video
You update your spring-fox dependency.

I think the session module is making problems, I had to create a properties file to make progress. The error that occurs is thrown in SessionAutoConfiguration.java line 102. and is saying: "No session repository could be auto-configured".

First I had the Problem of duplicate Beans which Intellij could not handle. I solved that by use Qualifiers as you can see.
But now I got a new Error which I cannot solve with google.
Error starting ApplicationContext. To display the auto-configuration report re-run your application with 'debug' enabled.

So first of all I dont understand why cloning the tutors code is working fine and as soon as I try it fails (I even copied for test reasons his config.java but still get errors!)

Make sure your schema.sql file is in the right place, or update your code to point to where your schema.sql file actually is.

I see you have a reliance on snapshot versioning in your pom.xml .This means you will pull any recent releases which may not be fully bug free. If you look in your error message you will see
spring-boot-1.4.0.BUILD-20160727.140415-585.jar:1.4.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT
This is a version built today which might not be fully stable. Instead change your pom to use the current general availability version for stability

Read more about Caffeine configuration. Its JCache adapter uses default specification (JCache) settings which states that entries never expires and are stored by value (copied when put/retrieved from cache). (reference here).
When cache is set to copying instances, you should choose adequate Copier which will handle that. So you can just write:
caffeineConfiguration.setCopierFactory(JavaSerializationCopier::new);
or
caffeineConfiguration.setCopierFactory(Copier::identity);
It depends on if you want to be safe in case of cache key/value mutations.
Nevertheless, the recommended option is to use default settings where store-by-value option is disabled and copier is necessary:
