I know there is already a lot of topic about this issue (did you forget to inherit a required module?) but my problem is a little bit special.
Let me explain it:
I have an existing package that contains my models classes(the name of the package is model). All my models were located into that package. But I made a change in my application and now part of the models that I am using in my application is now pulled from another application named "MyAppModel". I have added the dependency to this MyAppModel application in my pom.xml file. I have no compilation error (mvn compile is successful) but when I do maven install: I have the following error:
[ERROR] Line 130: No source code is available for type com.data.service.models.Product; did you forget to inherit a required module?
[INFO] [ERROR] Line 588: No source code is available for type com.data.service.models.Order; did you forget to inherit a required module?
These 2 models:com.data.service.models.Order.java and com.data.service.models.Product.java are from the MyAppModel application but I am not authorized to add them manually to the existing model package of my application.
It seems like it can not find those 2 models Product and Order.
Here is the content of my gwt.xml file:

The source path is only pointing to he existing model package. My question is: how can I do to modify this gwt.xml file to take into account both models packages(the model package of the existing application and also the model package of the external application "MyAppModel")
I need to keep my existing source path='model' and should add an access to my external models in my MyAppModel application

I think this is one of those few cases where the error is exactly what it says.
If you have part of those models in another artifact just make sure you also have the sources available and not just class files, for that artifact.
You need to either package a -sources artifact or include sources in the same artifact as compiled classes.
In case of GWT, sometimes we see this error if we refer server side classes in client side code.

I'm trying to migrate a Java application that uses Tika from OracleJDK 1.8 to OPenJDK 13.
My IDE is Eclipse.
I have created the file module-info.java to indicate the required modules for my application.
In order to be able to use Tika classes such as AbstractParser, Detector, etc., I have added requires org.apache.tika.core; in module-info.java.
My code also uses the class org.apache.tika.parser.pdf.PDFParserConfig to extract embedded images:

context.set(PDFParserConfig.class, pdfConfig);'
I get the compilation error:
PDFParserConfig cannot be resolved to a type
Eclipse suggests to add requires org.apache.tika.parsers; to module-info.java: Eclipse suggestion screenshot.
When I add this module requirement to module-info.java, the application compiles properly.
That is, at this stage we have included in module-info.java:

However, when trying to execute the compiled application, we get the error:

Caused by: java.lang.module.InvalidModuleDescriptorException: Provider class org.apache.tika.parser.onenote.OneNoteParser not in module
Inspecting the project Libraries in Eclipse, I can see that tika-core and tika-parsers (v1.24) are both modular: Eclipse Java Build Path
In conclusion: If I don't add org.apache.tika.parsers as a required module, the application won't compile, and if I add it I get the runtime error saying org.apache.tika.parser.onenote.OneNoteParser is not in the module.
I have inspected the JAR files for these packages to see the dependencies they have. The core packages seems to be right:

Does this mean the jar package for parsers is not well formed?
Is there any workaround for this?

If I try with version 1.24.1, I get the execution error:

That is: the failing class is CompositeExternalParser instead of OneNoreParser.
Inspecting META-INF/services/org.apache.tika.parser.Parser of tika-parsers-1.42.1.jarI can see the entryorg.apache.tika.parser.external.CompositeExternalParser` but the package does not contain this class.
So, it seems to be an error in this META-INF file. Id this due to an error when compiling the package and submitting it to Maven Central?
I've found a JIRA issue, TIKA-2929, where they say "Apache Tika needs to be on the Java Classpath, not the module path". I've tried this, but, as explained before, I get a compilation error if I don't add it to the module path and set requires org.apache.tika.parsers;.
This is a hard puzzle...

When trying to write a class that extends I get the error message:
The hierarchy of the type 'MYEditor' is inconsistent.

This indicates that eclipse cannot find a class in the hierarchy. But when I use the class in my plugin.xml, it works. I am using it like this:

This works, but lacks a few features that I need for my plugin. That's why I want to use a class that inherits from CEditor.
This answer didn't work, to (remove and add JRE System Library).
I've also read that the jar file needs to be put in the Classpath section of the plugin.xml. But the "Add" and "New" Buttons don't provide a way to chose an external jar file. I can manually copy that jar file from "~/.p2/pool/plugins" into my projects lib folder, but that didn't help.
Plug-ins reference code in other plug-ins by including the other plug-in in their dependencies list. This is the Require-Bundle entry in the plug-in's MANIFEST.MF.
In the MANIFEST.MF/plugin.xml/build.properties editor you can set the dependencies in the 'Required Plug-ins' section on the 'Dependencies' page.
Do not copy plugin jars, do not put plugin jars in the Java Build Path.
But note that extending internal classes is against the Eclipse API Rules of Engagement. Internal classes may change without warning and may be different in older releases.

I cloned Amazon's ASK java repository on github and ran
mvn package
on it, and it produced the following .jars:

I noticed that when attempting to make certain imports for classes on https://developer.amazon.com/docs/custom-skills, such as import com.amazon.speech.speechlet.servlet.SpeechServlet;
I received a message stating that com.amazon.speech could not be resolved, indicating that the file didn't exist. However, after further investigation, I noticed that there was a SkillServlet class that seemed to essentially replace the SpeechServlet class as it was able to do everything that SpeechServlet could,
so I assumed that the developer site hadn't been updated yet to reflect the changes. I then noticed that RequestHandler, a class in the repository, had a method that returned an object of type Optional< Response >. When I tried to import Response with the following import:
import com.amazon.ask.model.Response;
I recieved an error message stating The type com.amazon.ask.model.Response cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files
This suggests that the class definition doesn't exist in the project's classpath, despite having included all of the above .jars. I searched through and was unable to find a model directory. Did my maven build fail, and am I missing any .jars? I'm using Eclipse EE IDE, which I know is susceptible to errors, but I've cleaned my project as well as restarted the IDE to no avail.
Update:
I noticed that the pom.xml file within the ask-sdk-core-2.3.4 directory contained a dependency for ASK SDK Model, but it doesn't seem to be obtaining the dependency. I also noticed that though ask-sdk-2.3.4 should also include everything that ask-sdk-core-2.3.4 does, as the latter is listed as a dependency in the former, I have to include ask-sdk-core's jar file separately or Eclipse is not able to recognize certain classes. I think this means that maven has failed, so I just downloaded the jar directly from mvnrepository.com. Any idea why this might have happened?
If you use ask-sdk-2.3.4.jar, then it should include all the dependencies you need like you noticed in your update blurb. When you look at Hello World sample in their Github repo, the pom.xml only contains ask-sdk-2.3.4.jar but not other dependencies that ask-sdk-2.3.4.jar has in it. https://github.com/alexa/alexa-skills-kit-sdk-for-java/blob/2.0.x/samples/helloworld/pom.xml
To your error message on Response, that is because you are missing ask-sdk-model jar which you can find from maven central. http://central.maven.org/maven2/com/amazon/alexa/ask-sdk-model/
I would suggest using maven and pom.xml so that you don't have to download jars individually.
I want to replace the auto injected log object, which is of type org.apache.commons.logging.Log with an object of type org.slf4j.Logger, so that I can use it properly with Logback.
Therefore I need to create a ...Transformer class (written in Java) - that's what I got from Graeme Rocher over at the "grails-user" mailing list. I'm also aware that I have to pack this ...Transformer class within a plugin and make it a *.jar archive which I can load within the lib/ folder of the plugin. But I guess I'm doing something wrong here as I have the class, along with a META-INF folder which contains the MANIFEST.MF file as well as another folder services which holds the following file org.codehaus.groovy.transform.ASTTransformation which holds just one String: the canonical name of the ...Transformer class.
Now, if I try to do a grails clean everything is fine, BUT if I try to run grails package-plugin the console comes up with a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException.

my goal was to create a Globals ASTTransformation, to inject a org.slf4j.Logger object instead of the usual org.apache.commons.logging.Log object into every Artefact class without annotation.
so, here are the steps:
I created Java class similar to https://github.com/grails/grails-core/blob/master/grails-logging/src/main/groovy/org/codehaus/groovy/grails/compiler/logging/LoggingTransformer.java but with my own implementation of the org.slf4j.Logger object. It is crucial that you place the Java.class under the following package: org.codehaus.groovy.grails.compiler as
Grails scans for classes that are annotated with #AstTransformer in this package. (Graeme Rocher)
and pack it into a JAR along with its MANIFEST.MF file within the META-INF/ folder. A META-INF/services directory with all its stuff is not needed as Graeme Rocher stated:
You do not need the META-INF/services stuff and I would remove it as it is probably complicating matters.
So, I guess this statement was more related to my specific problem as I only have one #AstTransformer class within my plugin, but that's just a guess. And I haven't searched for further informations on this topic. Maybe some other developer here who needs this could do some research and share his solution within this thread...
The JAR should be imported to the plugin and placed under the lib/ directory. After this you should be able to do grails clean, grails compile and grails package-plugin.
If you want to replace the log implementation, as I did, you should exclude the grails-logging and grails-plugin-log4j JARs from your designated project's classpath. This is done in the BuildConfig.groovy file:

excludes "grails-plugin-log4j", "grails-logging"
}
Now install your plugin grails install-plugin \path\to\plugin.zip and everthing should work as expected.

I have an external JAR signpost-core-1.2.1.1.jar (from http://code.google.com/p/oauth-signpost/), that I want to include into my Java GWT project.
So I add this external JAR file to my build path in Eclipse and put theese imports to my Class:

While compiling I got theese error messages:

Unfortunately the Signpost does not seam provide a gwt.xml file, since it consists only of a jar file.
So how can I write it?
And where do I have to place it?
Or do I just need to set some additional paths?
I don't know Signpost library but I suppose that you want to use it in your client side. Unfortunately oauth-signpost is only provided for traditional web services. Anyway if you want to use it, its possible only on server side where you have full support of jre 6. On client side you can use only provided gwt modules that use only emulated gwt-jre environment.
