Reading the first line of a text file in Android Java(API17) - java

I'm really new in Java and I'm trying to figure out how to read a line from .txt file in SD card. The code below doesn't seem to work since it returns an empty result.

line is still equal to ""
try reading using the BufferedReader.readLine

Parsing file in a format of Key = Value in java

I'm trying to write a function that parse a file that each line is a key = value format. The file is .txt.
Does java has a specific class or object that can help me parse the file?
note- the file has about 500K lines.

You can use a BufferReader to read the file line by line:
BufferedReader reader;

In my code I have two files in my drive those two files have some text and I want to display those string in the console and also remove the repeated string and display the repeated string once rather than displaying it twice.

But I want to compare both the strings and if the same string repeated then that string should be displayed once.
Output I expect is like this:

Where the "hi" is found in both the strings so that I need to delete the one duplicate string.
How can I do that please help.

You can pass your lines through this method to parse out duplicate words:

Android/java Cant read from .txt file in local storage

So i have a .txt file in local storage its a simple text file. The text is basically just a series of lines.
I am using the code below to attempt to read the text file (i verify the file exists before calling this method).

The code produces in the log
----Determined that file is readable
But that is the ONLY output the file data is not written to the log
Also i have tried inserting before the while loop the following to attempt to just read the first line

Let me refine my answer. You can try another way to read all lines from advice_master.txt and see what happens. It makes sure that all file contents can be read.

read from file and write some parts in another file

I have to read from a text file and format the input. I'm new to java reading from files, and I don't know how to work with just some parts of what I read

I've managed just to take everything from the file and print it to output. I would need help just in taking the output I need and print it to the screen. Any help is appreciated.

If your goal is to do the specified output in another file you don't need to first get the content of your file in a StringBuilder before processing it, you can append the processed datas directly in a StringBuilder then you can write the result in a file. Here is an example that would work for the given file but you may have to modify it if the keys change in the future:

The next method will read any string to a file

And here is a simple tests (File1.txt contains the datas from the file you shared on paste bin and I write them in another file)

It will produce the exact output that you are expecting

check if a value exists in an external file (java)

Is it possible (and wise) to check if a value exists in an external text file.
So if i have a file: bankcodes.txt that contains the next lines:
INGB
ABNA
...
Is it possible to check if a value is present in this file?
The reason is that these values can change and need to be easily changed whitout making a new jar file.
If there is another, wiser way of doing this i would like to hear it too.
