DynamoDB mapper class missing in dynamodb client - java

I want to use dynamodb client by declaring following artifacts in my project
<dependency>
<groupId>software.amazon.awssdk</groupId>
<artifactId>dynamodb</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>software.amazon.awssdk</groupId>
<artifactId>dynamodbmapper-v1</artifactId>
<version>1.0.0</version>
</dependency>
Both of the above jars not contain classes related to dynamodb.
But if see the artifacts downloaded by using following GAV then i see the classes in extracted jar.
<groupId>com.amazonaws</groupId>
<artifactId>aws-java-sdk-dynamodb</artifactId>
Whats the difference between group com.amazonaws and software.amazon.awssdk and where is there a difference?
Why is the mapper missing in the first GAV.
Amazon mentions following in the first artifact
<artifactId>dynamodbmapper-v1</artifactId>
<name>AWS Java SDK :: Test :: Amazon DynamoDB Mapper v1</name>
<description>DynamoDB Mapper largely unchanged from v1. The v1 Mapper is kept for testing purposes only. All classes are in the test directories to prevent use in application code.</description>
<url>https://aws.amazon.com/sdkforjava</url>

Personally I don't like the amazon documentation - I'm not sure if this is your case but, for me, most of the time the material there is outdated.
I'm using the aws client and the Lavelle community dynamo library to make some queries into DynamoDB via annotations / querydsl.
Below follows my pom.xml for a spring-boot/spring-data/dynamodb/swagger micro service.
I hope it helps.

Is it possible achive running spock and junit test during maven lifecycle without above warning?
First, upgrade maven-surefire-plugin to 3.0.0(-M4) which runs JUnit Platform (JUnit 5) tests by default. Then it should be enough to just add spock-core 2.0 dependency. Sample working project from my blog post treating about Spock 1 -> 2 migration (of course Groovy 3.0 is recommended to use).

Spring Boot application fails to run - spring.resources.cache-period were left unbound

I'm having difficulties with my Spring Boot application which is not willing to run.
According to logs the reason of this situation is unbound spring.resources.cache-period property.
This property however is set in application.properties and compiler is even returning it's value.
I'll really appreciate if someone could lend me a hand with that issue.

Just as #Stephane Nicoll suggested, I've changed spring-boot-devtools version to the one corresponding my Spring Boot version. This, along with deletion of previously provided spring.resources.cache-period property solved the issue.
I had the same problem.
You should remove the version to use spring-boot same version
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-devtools</artifactId>
</dependency>
Also be aware of your user's global configuration file for devtools:
~/.spring-boot-devtools.properties
This might have deprecated values like the mentioned spring.resources.cache-period in it, that are no longer valid.
=> In my case, removing this old value solved the same error!
Also have a look at spring boot's documentation for the order of configurations:
https://docs.spring.io/spring-boot/docs/current/reference/html/boot-features-external-config.html#boot-features-external-config-application-property-files

Google Cloud Storage Runtime Error

I'm simply trying to list the contents of my Google Cloud Storage bucket from my GAE (java) using the following code:
GcsService gcsService = GcsServiceFactory.createGcsService(new RetryParams.Builder()
.initialRetryDelayMillis(10)
.retryMaxAttempts(10)
.totalRetryPeriodMillis(15000)
.build());
try{
ListResult list = gcsService.list("MyTestBucket", new ListOptions.Builder().setPrefix("testFolder").setRecursive(true).build());
}
It compiles, but when I run it I get the following error which I don't understand:
Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.google.appengine.tools.cloudstorage.GcsService.list(Ljava/lang/String;Lcom/google/appengine/tools/cloudstorage/ListOptions;)Lcom/google/appengine/tools/cloudstorage/ListResult;
The POM dependency looks like this to include Google Storage:
<dependency>
<groupId>com.google.appengine.tools</groupId>
<artifactId>appengine-gcs-client</artifactId>
<version>0.6</version>
</dependency>
I've tried various <exclusions> but can't seem to make it work.
Thanks
Tim

Fixed it! I looked in the .war file and found that there were two versions of the appengine-gcs-client jar files. 0.2 and 0.6. I did an mvn clean and it sorted the problem. I really should have done that before :-( Live and learn!
Try removing <enableJarClasses>false</enableJarClasses>. I suspect this is causing the JAR for the GCS library not be be included in the artifact ran on GAE. As a result required classes might be missing.

Compilation failure child package does not exist

I am trying to create simple Rest API app and I want to check it with jbehave framework, everything worked fine until I added dependency for image_capture project in my service_tests project.
In my code everything fine, my service_tests recognize image_capture classes but when I am trying to mvn clean install for parent app I am getting
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-compiler-plugin:3.1:testCompile (default-testCompile) on project service_tests: Compilation failure: Compilation failure:
for all packages from my image_capture project.
I am using IntelliJ, java 8 and spring boot for Rest API app.
I saw many answers from stackoverflow and did not succeed with one of them.
Thanks for help in advance.

I found a reason: Spring Boot classes is not accessible via dependencies as I understood. That a reason that my test app does not see spring boot classes while compiling via Maven. The solution is to use additional app, not spring boot app, that has class that represents spring boot Entity class.
I found some reference in this article: https://www.toptal.com/spring/top-10-most-common-spring-framework-mistakes
The solution that I used here is a Common Mistake number 2 from the article.

How to implement push-style RESTful webservice with Apache CXF?

We already use Apache CXF in our project and I wondering if it is possible to implement push RESTful service (the feature introduced with Servlet 3.0 spec) within CXF 2.7?
Yes..... Download cxf-3.0.0 framework zip( here is the link). on extracting you can find samples directory(number of sample cxf projects are there for our reference). In our case select jax_rs/websocket directory. You can find sample push customer maven project. I modified the existing pom.xml as below and imported to eclipse and worked perfectly.
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/maven-v4_0_0.xsd">
