I am using the PocketSphinx Demo project for my hot word detection Android app and now I'd like to extract the MFCC features. Is it possible to do so with PocketSphinx?
Also, I've read many posts about using Sphinx 4 for Android, some say it can be done, some say it can't. I personaly didn't manage to make it work.
Thank you for your help,

No, this feature is not supported

Sphinx4 on Android is not supported either

I'd like to have advertisements in an android App I've written and built using PGS4A. I've done my research and all, but there doesn't seem to be any online resources that explains how to do that just yet. I haven't much knowledge on Java either, which is clearly why I've written that in Python. Has anyone found a way to achieve that? If not, how difficult would it be to convert the project files into an Android Studio (or even an Eclipse) project? (so then one can just implement the ads following the Java Admob documentation found everywhere)
Thank you in advance.
To access Java already implemented version you can use pyjnius. I tried to use it for something else and I didn't succeed. Well, I yielded pretty quickly because it wasn't necessary for my project.
Otherwise, I am afraid, you will have to implement it yourself from scratch.
I never heard about a finished solution for your problem.
If you succeeded to use PGU, it wouldn't be so hard.
If not, well, I wish you luck, and put your solution online for others.
There is an Eclipse plug-in for Python. I think that Android studio does not support PGS4A. Never needed it. Console is the queen.
I am really new to the java & android apps development. Currently I'm doing a prototype application about the voice recognition. Which use the sphinx4 speech recognition. I'm really no idea that, is that Sphinx4 can be used on the android SDK?
Using Sphinx4.0 to build a speech recog. Android application (this shows that, it can't)
https://sourceforge.net/p/cmusphinx/discussion/sphinx4/thread/ce6ee093/ (But this said it can.)
if yes, i really no idea how to make use of the sphinx4, anyone can kindly provide the guide for me to complete the prototype?
Thanks for your kindly help.
It is possible to run Sphinx4 on android, however, you need to remove sphinx4 parts that use desktop-specific java api like java sound API. You still can have the core in place and demo should work as expected.
You need to reimplement Microphone class to use android API for sound input.
For more details see the discussion about that:
https://sourceforge.net/p/cmusphinx/mailman/message/31317160/
So it is some work and it requires coding skills. If you don't have that, use pocketsphinx instead like Opiatefuchs suggests you. It's well documented approach which requires minimum efforts.
I also tried to do some App with Pocketsphinx, not Sphinx4. I think this is really not designed for android, but maybe You could get it work. But for which reason? PocketSphinx is a good designed API for including in Android. I had mad some tutorial on my website for how to get the Pocketsphinx work, I advise to stop thinking about Sphinx4 because it would be a heavy coding thing to get it work. PocketSpinx has all You need...look at my Tutorial, this is a better way:
https://sites.google.com/site/opiatefuchs/home/pocketsphinxandroiddemo
Until now I stopped working on it, but when I got time, I will start to include Pocketsphix into an apk. But this tut only shows how to get the example demo work and set up Your runtime environment to work with Pocketsphinx.
I want to develop an application based on Voice Biometric Recognition.
Specifically, I want to develop an application which will record a voice from the telephone, and identify the speaker. If the same person calls again it will recognize the voice. Like other Biometric applications do here my need is to do a voice biometric. Are there any URLs or examples which will help me. I searched but not able to find a solution.
FreeSpeech is a text-independent speaker verification system that verifies a caller's identity
I want to achieve the above one FreeSpeech Recognition in my application.
Is it possible to do the below things by using any Open Source.
The individual records a voice print, then
The system keeps track of the voice prints and can distinguish recordings from live speech
If yes, can you please provide me a URL or example which will help me.
Well, I got the light from This Url to achieve the above task but not able to get the expected out put.
After wasting 20 to 25 Hrs, Finally I got the solution by using MARF Framework.
I got the sample app from the http://sourceforge.net/projects/marf/files/Applications/%5Bf%5D%20SpeakerIdentApp/0.3.0-devel-20060226/
And for now, it's working fine for me. This links is very useful for me to make the sample app executable. http://marf.sourceforge.net/
You can take a look at this previous SO post in which various Java Speech Recognition Engines are described such as Sphinx.
I am not an expert on this domain so please take my answer as is , it's not an authorative one... I think you have different ways to achieve your goals :
- finding a Java library is one , the most natural one
- recording the voice in Java then applying one of the several algorithms available for such job , you may find many research papers dealing with that subject
- depending from the architecture choices, you may find different libraries implemented in C dealing with voice signal, using JNI or JNA is one way to deal with C/C++ libraries, Web Services or CORBA are other ways to achieve this....

i want to use a function for image recognition
i dont want to make an algorithm.
please suggest me a function where i could compare two images and tell whether these images belong to the same object.
please help me!.
Arbitrary image recognition is something that computers can't yet do (even for supercomputers). However, Google Goggles comes close, being able to recognize a wide range of objects. Read its limitations, and see if it suits your purpose.
Yes. There are definitely ways to do this but they all depend on what you are trying to do. If you are more specific about what you want to compare then it will be easier to give a more thorough answer.
There are some excellent libraries out there but it will require some effort on your part to learn and understand how to use them and how to use them on the iPhone.
The most famous algorithms so assist in finding images inside other images are called SIFT and SURF. Unfortunately both are patented and cannot be used commercially in an application.
Consider using OpenCV for most of your image operations.
Or you could use OpenFrameworks (google has tagged it as a phishing site for some reason, im sure theyll fix that soon)
You might also consider VXL which has started to become more popular.
Good luck!
I've got one of those newfangled Android phones and want to do some app development for it and am looking for guides. I haven't really found anything that looks promising for both an Android newbie and a Java newbie though. I know PHP and code in it professionally as well as a basic smattering of some other languages so any 'for dummies' resource is probably not for me.
Are there any advisable books, resource sites or tutorials that focus on both these aspects (rather than one or the other) that assume you know nothing but not treat you like an idiot?
Thanks.
First of all, start with Google's own documentation. Its basic but a good start.
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/fundamentals.html
Then you may wish to progress via various books.
I would recommend the set of books written by a Mark Murphy who is a regular on stack overflow. They are digital downloads and are kept up to date. Checkout http://commonsware.com/
For Java, since you already understand programming, I would recommend Sun's tutorial
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/
For Android I agree with Tom but also recommend the notepad tutorial:
http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/notepad/index.html
I'm also in the same boat, except I'm a .net developer trying to pick up Android. The best place to start seems to be the Google getting started. I've not found any other large resources for Android, but IBM have a couple of good articles, particularly this run-down on working with XML with Android.

Also, here's an excellent book with some great examples:
