I'm trying to create a new project with spring boot.
But I'm getting Error described below. I have added my code.

I think you have missed out ViewResolver configuration class.

Try above configuration and it should call login.jsp page.
Update
As you have correctly added resolver in application.properties. I figured that the problem is with folder WEB-INF. This folder is secured from outer access and .jsp files should not be inside of this folder. It is for files like web.xml which should not be exposed to client.
Just rename it to view (or something else) and change application.properties as -
spring.mvc.view.prefix=/view/jsp/
spring.mvc.view.suffix=.jsp
This should definitely work.
In my case I had everything correctly setup in spring boot. The jsps were in src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/jsp
and index.html the welcome page in src/main/resources/static/index.html. Still howevere hard I tried the jsp pages were not getting rendered. I always got 404 return.
But when I changed the build process to create a war field instead of the jar file it worked fine.
Just made additional line change in the build.gradle file as below
apply plugin: "war"
and after that while ruuing the war as java -jar demo.war everything fell in place and started working.
I just had this same issue occur. Project structure was correct and everything looked good. I made a slight change to my application.properties spring.mvc.view.prefix. I changed "/WEB-INF/jsp/" to "WEB-INF/jsp/" and everything works correctly. I think in the generate target and war it is the root directory so the additional / as a prefix was confusing something
Its a hierarchy problem, the WEB-INF should be under webapp folder.
yourMainPackage/src/main/webapp/WEB_INF
(note that for it to work with springboot default configuration, webapp/ should be under main/ and not under resources)
I faced the same issue and it took me long time to figure out that there are three conditions.
1.) In application properties you need to have the following view resolver mapping
(You can use java based as well):
logging.level.web=DEBUG
spring.mvc.view.prefix=/WEB-INF/pages/
spring.mvc.view.suffix=.jsp
Note: you have to create "WEB-INF" folder by yourself as in my case "webapp"
folder was empty. DEBUG property is not necessary just keep it as it will
help you find the root cause from logs.
2.) I had to make the packaging as "war" instead of jar.

3.) Make sure you have added tomcat jasper dependency to compile the jsp pages at
runtime.

Correct value should be spring.cloud.config.server.native.searchLocations=file:///Users/Sankest/StarterProjects/MicroServices/AllConfigurations/ with 3 front slashes after file:. One way to verify whether path is correct or not, even without running the application, is to paste the path in browser and check whether it shows all the files.
For default profile make sure either file name is application.yml or application.properties.
For other profiles e.g. dev, file name should be application-dev.yml or application-dev.properties (if all are in the same folder), then http://localhost:9090/config-server/dev would show both dev and default profile entries.
I don't think so you are accessing the correct endpoint.
For example :
If you are having three files in your AllConfigurations folder.
The file can be yml or properties.
application-dev.yml
application-test.yml
application-prod.yml
The name in the left side of the - is application name and name in right side is profile.
So the endpoint for application-dev.yml will be
http://localhost:9090/application/dev
From the client to access the specific profile file in the config-server you need to set the active profile.
If you client application name is test
spring.profile.active=dev
Then it will return test-dev file to your client from config server.
I have a web application using maven & spring boot with a war deployment.
While it works normally on a windows machine (starting it using netbeans), I get a blank page response from browser when I run it on a linux machine (not sure if this is relevant). No errors occur on startup.
After searching a while I found that it is related with some 404 error response of spring boot. This happens for any route that I try (valid or not)
Another clue is that I tried to redirect 404 errors to a test.jsp but nothing changed in the browsers (I still get this blank page). With postman I get this .jsp as a response.
In any case it's not normal to get an error response since the routes are correct.

After some tries I conclude that:
mvn spring-boot:run
java -classpath "lib/*:classes/." org.app.Application
java -jar webapp-1.0.RELEASE.war
start the app as a normal application which leads to this problem. No matter if pom packing is defined as jar or war (If I'm wrong someone pls correct me)
Netbeans was deploying the app into an external tomcat server. I finally tried the classic war deployment way in order to make it work.
This answer is not solving the original question but provides a fix in case someone else has the same problem.
I am using the H2 database in a Spring boot application. But unable to open it in the browser at http://localhost:8080/console. My pom.xml is as below:

Note - if you are not using any security then adding spring security is not required
Actualy problem is - when you open this url in chrome
http://localhost:8080/h2 chrome makes it --> https://localhost:8080/h2
To get rid of this issue - Below reference will help -

You might have face 2 situation including following errors:
localhost refused to connect
Double check the URL. Chrome automatically try to change http:// to https://
Check spring.h2.console.path (Path at witch the console avilible) to get your URL:
Default: /h2-console --> URL: http://localhost:8080/h2-console/
If you running IDE (e.g. IntelliJ Idea), make sure your app is running witch means your H2 data base is running!
You face 404 Error:
In this case your H2 Data base is correctly running on Port 8080 and you already have the connection with it.
Check spring.h2.console.path (Path at witch the console avilible) to get your URL:
Default: /h2-console --> URL: http://localhost:8080/h2-console/
Enable H2 Console
spring.h2.console.enabled=true
The issue might be also be caused by adding server.servlet.context-path to properties. The new url will be composed of server.servlet.context-path plus spring.h2.console.path
If you have renamed the h2 path in the application.properties to "console" you've to add it in your antMatcher like .antMatcher("/console/**") with two asterisks after the "console" because there are much more appendings.
If none of the above solution works, try below one, this worked for me :
Add below property in your application.propertiesfollowing

Open console in browser using this URL : http://localhost:8080/h2-console
On a login page make sure that you use jdbc:h2:mem:testdb as JDBC URL.
As h2 database console is mapped to "h2-console".

There are a lot of moving parts to this project, but I'll try to be brief and objective.
Basically, I have a Spring Boot application that compiles and runs fine on Netbeans with Tomcat 7.0.63. I also runs without issues when I drag and drop the .war file generated on Netbeans, directly to the webapps/ folder on on the Tomcat directory.
However, when I try to deploy that same .war file to Tomcat 7.0.63 running on a remote server, all I get is the Tomcat 404 Error page.
No errors are generated on Catalina.out and the application is deployed successfully, but it seems to just point to the root application folder instead of loading the Spring DispatcherServlet. The reason I say this is because if I add a sample index.html to the root folder, it will render instead of the 404 error.

Maybe a bit late, but somebody else might stumble upon this problem like i did myself.
Deploying on local tomcat worked fine for me, but when deploying on remote tomcat on ubuntu i got the Tomcat 404 Error page aswell.
I also tried deploying with
<java.version>1.8</java.version>
but without the tomcat version (i was using Apache Tomcat/7.0.52. for the reference).
After deploying with properties:
<properties>
<project.build.sourceEncoding>UTF-8</project.build.sourceEncoding>
<start-class>controllers.Application</start-class>
</properties>
it worked like it should.
Deploying with
<java.version>1.7</java.version>
worked aswell.

What does this mean?
I have a correct structure and doing it by the convention
But no luck what so ever. I tried changing to public/ and tried using webjars. All in vain. What are the norms for this and how do I get this set up so it wont be breaking! Thanks!

After further examining the application, I have found this
It says that the request it allows is PUT, but why? From what I can understand is that something is blocking my request to the resource files, is that right?
Desperate to get this fixed, it's really bothering to configure Spring, even with Spring Boot!
Found a problem that I was facing with not being able to access static resources.
For those who experience the same:
This behaviour (405 error) signifies that something is blocking the path to your static resources. This doesn't have to be /static or /public. It wont do anything.
In my case the problem was that a controller was blocking the /css path. To fix this a #RequestMapping(value = "/Somepath") annotation on the class lvl is needed to release the path for the static resources.
This worked for me and now I can access my static resources without any issues.
This can be a very annoying problem and someone can spend hours and days trying to figure this out. Hope this helps others to save their time
