CardView cardView = findViewById(R.id.CARD_VIEW);
View child1 = LayoutInflater.from(this).inflate(R.layout.task_layout,null);
cardView.addView(child1);
Try this...
CardView cardView = findViewById(R.id.id_cardview);
Create an object to your layout
View child1 = LayoutInflater.from(this).inflate(
R.layout.extra, null);
cardView.addView(child1);

Please Help
Try to replace the linear layout in the following with cardview and use the resultant layout as the layout for the recyclerview items .
<FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:background="#android:color/transparent"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_gravity="top"
android:layout_marginTop="20dp"
android:background="#cccccc"
android:layout_height="100dp">
</LinearLayout>
<ImageView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:src="#mipmap/ic_launcher"
android:layout_gravity="right"
android:layout_marginRight="20dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
</FrameLayout>
Hope this helps.

android:background="#color/accent_501">

<TextView
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"

<Button
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="50dp"
android:id="#+id/btambahLokasi"
android:text="Tambah"
android:textColor="#fff"
android:layout_marginTop="10dp"
android:background="#color/teal"
/>
</LinearLayout>
</LinearLayout>
And the java file
Function that show visibility of layout
private void checkIndexOrNot(){
Log.i("Value :", String.valueOf(campak.getSurveilans().getStatusKasus()));
if(Integer.parseInt(campak.getSurveilans().getStatusKasus()) == 1) {
linearIndex.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
} else {
linearIndex.setVisibility(View.GONE);
}
}
I know it's look like no problem, but the function that show visibility of layout does not work. The layout does not show after check condition. The logic of the condition that check from DB is working fine, no error.
I put the checkIndexOrNot() in onCreate() function.
Thank you in advance.
Your parent layout of linearIndex has gone as default property mean it will not be visible. To show children views, the parent layout must be visible. So either set both layouts to visible programatically or just remove the visibility="gone" from lstep3
Just remove android:visibility="gone" from root layout.
Change this:
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:visibility="gone"
android:id="#+id/lstep3">
To this:
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:id="#+id/lstep3">
I have A LinearLayout with a GridLayout inside. The GridLayout houses an ImageView, Textviews and then a ListView. I have tried all I can to get the ListView to scroll but it doesn't scroll at all. The LinearLayout ( Main One ) Is housed in a ViewFlipper if that changes anything.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:id="#+id/singleClub"
android:weightSum="1">
<GridLayout
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<ImageView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="150dp"
android:id="#+id/mainclub_image"
android:layout_row="0"
android:layout_column="0"
android:scaleType="centerCrop"
android:focusableInTouchMode="true"/>
<TextView
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge"
android:text="Large Text"
android:id="#+id/mainclub_name"
android:layout_row="1"
android:layout_column="0"
android:layout_marginRight="10dp"/>
<TextView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceMedium"
android:text="Genre"
android:id="#+id/mainclub_genre"
android:layout_row="2"
android:layout_column="0"/>
<TextView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceMedium"
android:text="Opening Times"
android:id="#+id/textqView3"
android:layout_row="3"
android:layout_column="0"/>
<TextView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceSmall"
android:text="Mon 00:00"
android:id="#+id/mainclub_openingtimes"
android:layout_row="4"
android:layout_column="0"/>
<ScrollView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_row="5"
android:layout_column="0">
<ListView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:id="#+id/mainclub_listview"
android:choiceMode="multipleChoice"/>
</ScrollView>
</GridLayout>
</LinearLayout>
I originally tried it with a Custom Expandable List View which worked but then stopped working later on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Remove scrollview outlining ListView and then set the height and width values of list view to match_parent. And Try using a relativelayout.
Alright, what I'm trying to do is: setting an imageview to be on the right and the 3 textviews will be located on the left relative to the image. With the following XML code, the imageview is on the left and the 3 textviews are located in the right of the imageview.
Here's the look of it now:
As I said, I want the image to be aligned on the right side, and the 3 textviews on the left of the image.
So here's the current xml: http://pastebin.com/r68S1QKv
If I change the LinearLayout to RelativeLayout (so I can use alignParentRight = true), the textviews stack on each other and are not displayed vertically.
Suggestions, please?
EDIT: Looks like I haven't clarify the wanted look, here's an illustration of what I want:
Use This Code.Use RelativeLayout as parent & assign android:layout_alignParentRight="true" to his child this set your all view to right side.
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
>
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginRight="20dp"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:orientation="horizontal" >
<LinearLayout
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<TextView
android:id="#+id/row_title"
style="bold"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="hey1" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/row_subtitle"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="hey2" />
<TextView
android:id="#+id/row_postcode_city"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="hey3" />
</LinearLayout>
<ImageView
android:id="#+id/icon"
android:layout_marginRight="20dp"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:src="#drawable/ic_launcher" />
</LinearLayout>
</RelativeLayout>
What you can do - is to make outer RelativeLayout, make you image alignParentRight=true, put text views in a separate linear layout (with vertical orientation), align your LinearLayout with text views to the left edge of the image view (layout_toLeftOf="#+id/img_id").
Here is what I manage to do following this approach:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="horizontal">
<LinearLayout
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_toLeftOf="#+id/img"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:id="#+id/text_container">
<TextView
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:text="text1"/>
<TextView
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:text="text2"/>
<TextView
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:text="text3"/>
</LinearLayout>
<ImageView
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true"
android:src="#drawable/icon"
android:id="#+id/img"/>
</RelativeLayout>
