Java code runs through IDE but fails from terminal

I have a Java Code where I am able to run it on Intellij using custom configuration. The configuration has following attributes :-
module : java 8 (Oracle OpenJDK 1.8.0_321)
classpath : -cp XYZ.main()
main : com.ABC.XYZ.ManageTraffic
CLI arguements : server XYZ.yml
But when I try to run the jar that was build using gradle from terminal , it gives me Error , could not find or load main class com.ABC.XYZ.ManageTraffic
So far I have tried the following things looking at other solutions at Stackoverflow , still getting the same error
java -jar ques.jar
java -jar ques.jar com.ABC.XYZ.ManageTraffic
java -cp /build/libs/ques.jar com.ABC.XYZ.ManageTraffic
Just to cross check , I unzipped the creataed jar and found that com.ABC.XYZ.ManageTraffic class file is available there , still getting error. What could be the issue?

Run it from the IDE, and while it is running, try to get the command used by the IDE from the process list.
not sure what OS you are using but something like this should work on linux/mac:
ps -ef | grep java
After you have the command you can try to understand why its not working for you, or just use that command

Just want to add how I managed to run it. I created a new shaded jar file of the same application. refreshed its dependencies and now it works. I am yet to find out how creating a shaded jar instead of normal jar helped. Right now the only reason I could figure out is there may be version clashes with some dependencies but I wonder how it could throw could not found main class error.
Anyways , then I ran the file with the following command from terminal:
java -jar ./build/libs/ques-shaded.jar server XYZ.yml

how to run kubectl command in java

I can run kubectl get secret/rabbitmq-expressmode -n expressmode in shell successfully.
However when I try to run it in java with either ProcessBuilder or Runtime.getRuntime().exec, the error:
Error from server (BadRequest): the server rejected our request for an unknown reason
is thrown out.
What's the possible reason?

Best approach would be to use official java client library.
Installation is pretty easy, and code examples shows you how to use it.
If the official one does not meet your requirements, there are also community-maintained client libraries:

I had same issue but resolved by programmatically creating bash file containing kubectl... command I was trying to execute directly.
For example, create bash file and put your kubectl command there (i.e.: some-file.sh). Then try then executing it in bash process running within your java code (bash some-file.sh).

I was able to compile my java code from PowerShell, but cannot run it

I was able to compile and run my java code from CMD, however when I try to run the same commands in PS, I am getting error messages. I have read and been told that CMD commands will work in PS, but the CMD commands are not working in PS
Here is the line that I am using to execute my program:
java -classpath .;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0.jar;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-
javadoc.jar;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-models.jar;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-
models.jar Test.TestCoreNLP
I am running the command from the directory where my needed JAR files are located. The error message says...
The command stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-models.jar was not found, but does exist
in the current location. Windows PowerShell does not load commands from the
current If you trust this command, instead type: ".\stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-
models.jar".
Made the change and the code looks like this now.
java -classpath .\;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0.jar;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-
javadoc.jar;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-models.jar;stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-
models.jar Test.TestCoreNLP
Still getting the exact same error message. I have also tried going up a directory and no luck. I have looked all over StackOverflow and I have done my research.

Using .\ would work for one file, but since you have a number of files, you should reference the current directory in each one of those files.
java -classpath .\stanford-corenlp-3.8.0.jar;.\stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-javadoc.jar;.\stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-models.jar;.\stanford-corenlp-3.8.0-models.jar .\Test.TestCoreNLP
Java 6 also supports wildcards, as this answer indicates, so you might try simply this.
java -cp ".\*" .\Test.TestCoreNLP

I came here with similar trouble, and what I found is that when running like this:
java -cp .\target\somelib.jar;.\target\myapp-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar com.ethoca.app.myapp
I would get help info. My discovery is that I need to double-quote my list of classpath, like:
java -cp ".\target\somelib.jar;.\target\myapp-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar" com.ethoca.app.myapp

How do I set $PATH using PHP?

My site is being hosted on a shared server so I don't have su access. I needed to run a piece of code with java but it's not available on the server. So I got a self-extracting version of java and put it on the server in my home directory. Then I gave executable permissions to java and I try running the code. I have to use relative paths when running the file because of the restrictions of the server.
Trying to run the java file ../java/bin/java -jar 'javafile.jar' gives me the following:
error while loading shared libraries: libjli.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I looked and libjli.so is located at ../java/lib/i386/jli/libjli.so. So I'm thinking that because I'm running java using a relative path it doesn't exactly know how to look for the other files. I'm hoping that if I can add absolute/path/to/java/bin to $PATH then this issue will be resolved.
So once I'm running my PHP, I can use dirname(__FILE__) to get the full path of my java bin directory. I've tried the following code:
exec('export PATH='.$bin_path.':$PATH', $output, $return);
print_r(array(getenv('PATH'), $output, $return));
Prints:
Array(
[0] => /usr/local/admin/bin:/usr/local/admin/bin/servers:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin,

So nothing was added to $PATH, no output was given, and the command returned a successful exit value. Is it just the restriction of the server that is preventing me from getting this working?

Firstly, this is not going to work.
exec('export PATH='.$bin_path.':$PATH', $output, $return);
It will launch a child process with a shell, run the export command in the shell, and then the shell will exit. But the export command only changes $PATH for that shell.
I'm not sure, but I suspect that you need to use putenv.

Well, it could only help if you used a simple command name for invoking the java command.
And it would be simpler to just run java using the full absolute pathname; e.g. "/absolute/path/to/java/bin/java"

Getting error "bash: appletviewer: command not found".

I'm trying to learn Java and I'm having problems with the appletviewer command. I am using openSUSE 11 and am able to compile and run normal java programs but when I issue the appletviewer command I'm getting the following error "bash: appletviewer: command not found".
I have set the PATH variable in the .bashrc file. so the problem is not that of the path. This can also be verified from the fact that javac and java commands are working normally. I have googled and tried many said resolution but none is working. I have even tried moving the files to the bin folder and running the command from there.
So what may the cause of this? Isn't appletviewer designed to work in linux? And FYI I have replaced the OpenSDK and IcedTea versions with the jdk1.6.0_14 version from the sun site. Please help.

As a test, do the following:
$which java
$which appletviewer
Check to see if the paths are different. If the second command gives no output, appletviewer may not even be installed (or can't be located by your system).

You need to install java-1_6_0-sun-devel-1.6.0.u14-0.2.1
$ sudo zypper install java-1_6_0-sun-devel
You will find it in the openSUSE-11.1-Non-Oss repository.
