Java IOException invalid constant type [duplicate] - java

I have a project that I want to update the version from Java 1.7 to Java 1.8 but running the UnitTests all mapper tests are failing.
The project is using:
SpringJUnit4ClassRunner
<dependency>
<groupId>ma.glasnost.orika</groupId>
<artifactId>orika-core</artifactId>
<version>1.4.5</version>
</dependency>
For that part of the exception: nested exception is ma.glasnost.orika.MappingException: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException: invalid constant type: 15 at 142
I found u.a this SO post:
Reflections - Java 8 - invalid constant type
But I'm not sure if this is realy the problem, as I have no dependency on the 'javassist'.
Is this related to the same issue?
How can I overcome that?

Your idea goes into the right direction.
the java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException: invalid constant type: 15 at 142
shows that the the application has problems with java 8 - as explained inn your link.
The ma.glasnost.orika mapper depends on javassist as you can see in the Stack Trace.
This is a transitive dependency of orika.
You could use mvn dependency:tree -verbose to build a dependency tree.
There you can look up the what library is depending eg on javassist and the exact version.
To use a javassist version that is Java 8 compatible use that dependency to overwrite the implicit dependency of orika:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.javassist</groupId>
<artifactId>javassist</artifactId>
<version>3.18.2-GA</version>
</dependency>
But for this example it might by better to upgrade the orika version to 1.4.6 as this one is Java 8 ready.

Context -
I have a spring boot app and
I updated the spring-boot-starter-parent version from 1.5.12.RELEASE to 2.4.0
I had this dependency in my pom -
<dependency>
<groupId>com.google.guava</groupId>
<artifactId>guava</artifactId>
<version>30.1-android</version>
</dependency>
Now when I am running my app, I am getting this error -

I resolved this by completely removing guava dependency and its references from my project.
If you still need to use caching then try using Caffeine.
With some more research over the web, I was able to fix the same exception which was occurring in my project by adding spring-context-support to the project.
I did it by adding following dependency to my build.gradle:
compile("org.springframework:spring-context-support:4.1.7.RELEASE")
spring-context-support is a library that contains helper methods and classes for configuring the cache.
Here is the blog that I followed:

Need help fixing Jira 6 "Mercurial-Jira" plugin to work on Jira 7

I'm trying to port ServiceRocket's JIRA Mercurial Plug-in (https://bitbucket.org/servicerocket-labs/jira-mercurial-plugin/overview) to work with JIRA 7. It works fine on JIRA 6.4.7 (via atlas-run-standalone --product JIRA --version 6.4.7). Long story short -- I've only just upgraded my private JIRA server to JIRA 7, and this is the only thing that doesn't work...
On JIRA 7.1.9, the Mercurial Repositories configuration page throws a 404 error, and I get a massive backtrace in catalina.out (copied below).
I can't get it to run in atlas-debug or atlas-run. The only way I've been able to get the plugin to run is by running JIRA stand-alone.
The error I get from atlas-debug and atlas-run is:
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal com.atlassian.maven.plugins:maven-amps-dispatcher-plugin:6.2.4:debug (default-cli) on project mercurial-jira-plugin-project: Couldn't detect an AMPS product to dispatch to > [Help 1]
Can anyone offer me some help with this?
I've a sneaking suspicion this is a dependency issue – the servlet API upgrade seems like a likely candidate (https://developer.atlassian.com/jiradev/latest-updates/preparing-for-jira-7-0/jira-7-0-platform-changes#JIRA7.0-Platformchanges-servletapi). Unfortunately my Java knowledge dates back about ten years, and the limited documentation ("just add a dependency in the project pom file") in the Atlassian documentation is going way over my head...
Thanks.

Spring Boot default test throws an IllegalStateException

I am starting to play with spring boot and I have problems with fresh new installation.
I have created initial project using http://start.spring.io .. here is my build.gradle:
buildscript {

springBootVersion = '1.2.5.RELEASE'
}
repositories {

}
sourceCompatibility = 1.8
targetCompatibility = 1.8
repositories {
mavenCentral()
}
dependencies {
compile("org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-jdbc")
runtime("mysql:mysql-connector-java")
testCompile("org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-test")
}
eclipse {
classpath {
containers.remove('org.eclipse.jdt.launching.JRE_CONTAINER')
containers 'org.eclipse.jdt.launching.JRE_CONTAINER/org.eclipse.jdt.internal.debug.ui.launcher.StandardVMType/JavaSE-1.8'
}
}
task wrapper(type: Wrapper) {
gradleVersion = '2.3'
}
When I execute in the command line:
gradlew clean build
build fails. Here is the output:

Make sure you have connection properties in the application.properties
For eg.
spring.datasource.url=jdbc:mysql://localhost/database
spring.datasource.username=username
spring.datasource.password=password
spring.datasource.driver-class-name=com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
I had a similar issue, but using Spring Initializr with the JPA module. What happens is that in the pom.xml generated there is no dependency declared for any embedded database. This makes the context loading process fail during the test phase.
To fix you can simply add the following dependency to your pom.xml:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hsqldb</groupId>
<artifactId>hsqldb</artifactId>
<scope>runtime</scope>
</dependency>
However I thought it would be nice to have such dependency by default, so I have opened a (trivial) issue at Spring:
https://jira.spring.io/browse/DATAJPA-1461
I hope I have submitted to the right board.
Writing configuration to have connection with database in application.yml helped me.
spring:
datasource:
driver-class-name: com.mysql.cj.jdbc.Driver
url: jdbc:mysql://localhost/database_name
password: password
username: username

component-scan can not detect interface bean?

This is part of my root-context.xml in spring mvc project(3.2.8 RELEASE).
<context:component-scan base-package="org.owls.test">
And I got some structures like below.
--org/owls/test
----dao
----dao.impl
----service
----service.impl
----controller
I got 2 annotations in my source code. one is #Repository which is on my DaoImpl Class and the other is #Service on my Service Interface.
I ran this with JUnit(4.7). DAOImpl thing works fine as I expected but Service does not work. I knew I can use #Service with an interface, but somehow this case can not.

Is there any good samples which use component-scan xml setting and #Service annotation on interface so I can compare with mine?
thanks for help :D
The annotation must be on the implementation not the interface. For some annotations spring looks at the interface (like #Transactional) but that is also basically a hack. Annotations are not inherited from interfaces, this is by design and is a Java and not a spring related thing.
Putting #Service on the interface has no effect what so ever. If you look at the answer in the link you provided you see that they also put #Component or #Repositoryon the implementation. If you put it on the interface it doesn't do a thing and your components will not be detected.
The specialized annotations like #Service, #Controller, #Repository are stereotype annotations. That way you can see what type of component it is (there are even more like #Endpoint - spring-webservices or #MessageEndpoint - spring-integration). For some of these annotations there is additional behavior like automatic exception translation for #Repository annotated beans.
You must also change autoscan base-package to base-package="org.owls",it looks for all classes.

The problem is that I am using some other project's library and that project has bean names similar to mine and they seem to be clashing !
So, is there a way to bring up that library's context separately for a Junit test case?
The problem why I was getting stackoverflow error was.. that I created a recursion by invalid imports of bean.xml file:
A.xml imports B.xml
B.xml imports C.xml
C.xml imports D.xml
D.xml imports A.xml // this was creating recursion.
Today i also faced this issue. My Problem was, that i had a property-file like that:
db.name=${db.name}
db.driverClass=${db.driverClass}
db.url=${db.url}
db.username=${db.username}
db.password=${db.password}
hibernate.showSql=${hibernate.showSql}
hibernate.generateDdl=${hibernate.generateDdl}
hibernate.generateDdl=${hibernate.generateDdl}
If it is not a testing case, these values are replaced via Maven, but i was not in this case. That causes an endless loop for me.
Hope it helps someone :)
