I am unable to run a spring boot application with https. I know that Spring boot uses an embedded tomcat server

APPLICATION FAILED TO START
Description
The Tomcat connector configured to listen on port 8181 failed to start. The port may already be in use or the connector may be misconfigured.
Action:
Verify the connector's configuration, identify and stop any process that's listening on port 8181, or configure this application to listen on another port.
Below shown is my Yaml file
server:
port: 8181
ssl:
enabled: true
key-alias: tomcat
key-password: tomcat
key-store-password: tomcat
key-store: classpath:keystore.p12
key-store-type: PKCS12
I have tried almost all answers in stackoverflow
Some of the answers that I tried are as follows:
This is happening only while running the jar file, I can easily run the spring boot application from IDE (I use Intellij)
Changed port from 8181 to 8443(many others also)
explicitely specified server port while running jar file (java -jar --server.port=8661)
created and tried JKS and PKCS12 files (no luck)
I checked whether any other application is running in the port by using netsat -nltp | grep : (no application is listed here) - Checked the same command in root also, doesn't list anything
This is only happening while specifying the ssl file, if ssl details are not there in the yaml file, the application easily starts.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
I solved this issue finally!
This was an issue with the embedded tomcat version (9.0.25) which is used in spring boot version 2.1.9.RELEASE.
I downgraded to spring boot 2.1.8.RELEASE and it works.

Nothing seems to work. My build.gradle
You are using a mixture of Tomcat modules. Some from Tomcat 10 and some from Tomcat 9. Rather than manually setting the versions in your build.gradle file, you should allow Spring Boot's dependency management to control the Tomcat version. This will ensure that you use a version of Tomcat that's compatible with the version of Spring Boot that you are using and also ensure that all of the Tomcat modules have the same version.
Note that Spring Boot 2.x is not compatible with Tomcat 10. Tomcat 10 is an implementation of the Servlet 5.0 specification which is part of Jakarta EE 9. to use Tomcat 10, you'll have to use Spring Boot 3 which is only available as milestones at the moment and will not be released until near the end of 2022.

thank u for your support...
As you can see in your logs files, Spring can not create the file logs/spring.log (relative to the server's working directory). Unless your system administrator changed the usual permissions on a Tomcat installation:
$CATALINA_BASE/logs is writable by Tomcat, but
there is no guarantee that the OS working directory of the server is $CATALINA_BASE, although often it is.
To be on the safe side and don't depend on Tomcat's working directory, use the Java system property catalina.base to define the path of the log file:
logging.file.name=${catalina.base:.}/logs/spring.log
The fallback . is used when you start your application in an embedded Tomcat.
Remark: Since you use the default spring.log file name, you can also delete the logging.file.name property an configure just a path:
logging.file.path=${catalina.base:.}/logs
From the stacktrace it seems like tomcat is trying to create a file under logs/spring.log in the tomcat directory which the using running tomcat not has access to. See (Permission denied) in the stacktrace.
You could create this file and give write access for the user running tomcat.
Some reasons may happen:
Check if you have permission to read the spring.log file or not this is the most obvious reason for java.io.FileNotFoundException: (Access is denied) exception so immediately provide read, write and execute permission to the log file and try again.
Or check if some other process is using that file This could be another possible reason for java.io.FileNotFoundException: (Access is denied).
I installed apache-tomee-plume-7.1.0 from https://tomee.apache.org/
I installed eclipse-jee from https://www.eclipse.org/ using the installation tool.
In eclipse I added a new tomcat v8.5 server since eclipse told me that was the installed version.
When starting the server from within eclipse, I get an error-message like this:
'Starting tomcat v8.5 Server at localhost' has encountered a problem.
Server Tomcat v8.5 Server at localhost failed to start.
In the console it says:

I ended up using another version of tomee.
Switched to version: apache-tomee-plume-8.0.0-M3
This solved my issues.
Both version of TomEE, witch is Apache TomEE plume 8.0.0-M3 and Apache Tomee plume 7.1.0, it seems to run without error, both started from prompt and also from Eclipse plugin. However try to unpacked them in an directory whose name does not contain the space character.

2) I need to provide external configurations for both applications and it needs to be clear that each application uses the right configuration.
1) When two Spring-Boot applications run on the same tomcat you will normally face the issue that the instantiation of a datasource might fail, because an instance with the same name already exists. This is the exception you described in your question.
This can be solved by adding a unique name to each Spring-Boot application e.g. in the
application.yml
spring:
application:
name: application-name-1
jmx:
default-domain: application-name-1
2) Providing an external configuration for each Spring-Boot application can be done by tomcat context configurations for every application individually. Assuming that all applications are deployed as .war e.g. app1.war, app2.war we need to configure the context for both applications as the following:
create the following files (and directories if missing)
tomcat-base-dir
/conf
/catalina
/localhost #must be the same as specified in the Host tag in the server.xml
app1.xml #must have the same name as the .war application file
app2.xml
Content for the app1.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!-- docBase must contain be the name of the application to be configured -->
<Context docBase="app1.war">
<Parameter name="spring.config.location" value="${catalina.base}/conf/app1.yml" />
</Context>
This will configure the application app1.war to use the file app1.yml for configuration. Do the same for app2. The actual configuration file app1.yml can be located at any path specified in the value.
In my spring-boot application I have externalized the log4j2.xml file and added the location of the configuration file using logging.config properties in application.properties file.
If I give an incorrect file location in logging.config then my application doesn't start and throw the following error:
[main] ERROR org.springframework.boot.SpringApplication - Application startup failed
java.lang.IllegalStateException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /tmp/log4j2.xml (No such file or directory)

I think the ideally the application should startup with default logging. Is there a way so that I can put in the default logging configuration or have spring-boot application start with default logging capabilities.
I am using log4j2 and spring-boot.
As the spring document says:
The various logging systems can be activated by including the appropriate libraries on the classpath, and further customized by providing a suitable configuration file in the root of the classpath, or in a location specified by the Spring Environment property logging.config.
For log4j2, the configuration file should be log4j2-spring.xml or log4j2.xml
So you can add log4j2.xml in your project resources directory and it will be packed into the jar file and then will be in the classpath.
